lol there is nothing mayweather could do no matter how he fights nothing people will hate him its just the way it is. but in 10-20 years i would bet anything he will be respected. lets not forget how many fighters were hated in their prime then taken for granted then respects into retirement one of those being the greatest ali
You make good points. Especially the point about Floyd being 38 years old. So many folks just look past that and don't really take it into consideration.
When Mosley cracked him, Mayweather pressed the action.
When Judah continously set Mayweather up in the early rounds, Mayweather pressed him.
When Hatton wouldn't stop coming, Mayweather put his punches together and eventually got him out of there.
When Cotto started cutting off the ring better around the 6th round, Mayweather mixed up his attack and even Lampley suggested this might be the most exciting fight of Mayweather's career.
When Manny Pacquiao, of right nevermind, Pacquiao did nothing.
At 38 years old were any of them competing at this level? Or were they getting beat across the ring by far lesser fighters than Pacquiao?
Also, he did not fight an overly cautious fight, that's a lie and second, only one that didn't come through was Pacquiao. Leonard, Tyson and Chavez Sr., Marquez (Pretty much everyone on Gole a Golpe) expressed their disappointment in Manny, yet some of us here are pointing the finger at Mayweather?

Very true.
Yet this fight was hyped and sold to so many non-boxing fans who expected a great fight no matter who was dominating.
Even i believed Floyd might try and put on a show and be more aggressive.
I struggle to think of any great p4p boxer who fought such a cautious dull fight. I understand why Floyd does it, but it has zero appeal.

He stood in front of Pacquiao about 70% of the time. There's one point in the seventh where feints Pacquiao three straight times and Manny leaps back three straight times. Floyd's not going to go in there on some Margarito ish. Fact is, he fought his fight which while cautious, lends itself to action if the other fighter is willing to do so (Maidana, for example). Manny didn't want to get KO'ed.
Floyd fights his own fight. It's up to the opponent to change that. Maidana had success in the first fight even though it was dirty. People are mad because they expected more from Pacquiao or at least an adjustment. When Floyd boxes he's labeled a runner and when he stays in the pocket he has shot legs.
I'm going cold turkey on Boxingscene.

Floyd has as many fans as he has haters.
The image that he sold and the non-friendly style will earn him boos anywhere he goes.
I assure you that 99% of the ppl here in this thread gets approached by Floyd they would try to take a pic with him
Pacquiao repeteadly said before the fight, even at the presscon where TBF sat nearby.... that the fans deserve a great fight...
It's the Fight of the Century man.....4.4 f7ckin million PPV buys..100$ eacH!
And what did TBF do?? he ran and Hugged the midget!!! pathetic!!lol

Don't lie to yourself, Floyd is universally disliked, in fact it's the opposite the only people who are happy with such a hallow victory are Floyd nuthuggers.
A win is a win.
if pacquiao got the decision, would that have been a hallow victory?
This is getting pathetic. I don't like Floyd either but it's like it gives people some sort of satisfaction with themselves that people don't like Mayweather. Grow up people. I mean I know it's a lot to ask for especially on this site but this site is supposed to be full of men talking boxing and you go around chatting like women about your dislike for people. It's sad as heck.
I thought he'd be cheered after a big win, doesn't America love winners?
Not this one it seems he is still despised.
lol @ that one guy shouting "yes! yes!" money team style amidst the boos.
He truly is the T.B.E.
The Booed Everywhere LOL!
T-B-E!

I saw him getting booed more now that he got the win over Pacquiao, most casuals I come across tell me Floyd lost and did nothing but run and hold all night. This why I think the rematch is going to happen, casuals are going to pay for it, it wont do 4 million buys but maybe 2 million buys.
Floyd got booed hard at the MGM when they announced him the winner against Pacquiao

That's what makes him who he is today, Floyd Mayweather lived abd fought for Floyd Mayweather and he's happy and satisfied of who he is and what he's accomplished, he wouldn't be able to be this successful if he hated himself. The fans aren't gonna help him after he retires, they didn't help Ali, they didn't help Frazier and he died broke, Sugar Ray Robinson is probably the best fighter ever and fans liked him but guess what, he died broke, Joe Louis, died broke and the list goes on and on.
