According to Lomachenko's manager Egis Klimas, the Featherweight unification that we all want to see against 'The Axe Man' Walters will happen at some point in October this year.
From Lomachenko's Facebook page:
WBO world featherweight champion Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko intends to hold a unification bout. It is planned that he will enter the ring in October, Egis Klimas told "R-Sport".
"The contract we have until the end of the year is to have one more fight - the plan for that is sometime in October. The promoter and television say that it makes sense to meet with Jamaican boxer Nicholas Walters. We look forward to as carry out this battle with Walters. Vasyl wants to unite the titles and we will make a start on this, "- said Klimas by phone.
After the fight with Rodriguez media reported that the Ukrainian injured his right hand in a fight.
"Vasyl had nice fight. All were satisfied by the Vasyl fight, the audience got a lot of good feelings from his match. As for his hands, he just hits hard - like a horse hoof ... We went to the doctor, took pictures - just bruises, which are on any boxer. No fractures or cracks, just boxing-beaten hands. He feels great "- said Klimas.
According to the manager, Lomachenko will rest and recover for about a month. "Lomachenko went home to Ukraine a couple of days after the fight. He's there now resting at home (for serious training) in the near future does not plan to come back. I think he will rest somewhere until mid-June," - he added.
Thoughts?
EDIT AS OF 19/05/2015
Bob Arum wants to stage Vasyl Lomachenko-Nicholas Walters in fall
LOS ANGELES Bob Arum promotes the two best featherweights in the world and he's not going to let this one marinate.
The Top Rank CEO told USA TODAY Sports on Monday that he wants to pit Nicholas Walters against Vasyl Lomachenko in the fall, provided the Jamaican gets past his June 13 bout with Miguel Marriaga. Arum said he would considering holding the fight outside the country and listed the Middle East as a possibility.
He WILL outwork Walters no doubt... He will neutralize Walter's jab and reach with incredible foot work and angles. Walter will be searching for that one big shot all night.
Walters is a great fighter but he doesn't have Floyd's speed to match his reach. I.E. he won't be able to frustrate Loma the way that Floyd is able to frustrate his opponents.
Also, you guys forget that Loma is a very naturally strong dude... watch some of his training videos... doing one arm pull ups, he's got those huge arms... He's a muscular guy... He might not be quite as powerful and heavy handed as Walters but he has power...
I believe that both fighters chins will be tested like never before in this fight.
Lol.. No Walters doesn't search for big shots.. You even watched him before? To busy watching Loma struggle with a washed up Salido ?H e might not be as powerful? Its a damn fact he isnt, its not even open for debate.
For the people picking Loma, how do you actually see him winning this fight? He will have to outwork Walters and get inside on him but it wont happen. Walters will control distance and hurt Loma when he gets desperate. I also believe Walters would KO salido as well.

Loma has better speed too and phenomenal defense, and he certainly has enough power to keep other fighters "honest"... like Floyd who isn't a huge heavy hitter but has enough power to keep those big hitters off him.
Please.... Floyd woulda shut out Salido.
No doubt he has better boxing skills but its not happening, you guys act like skills will win out everytime. Walters has size, reach, power, hes more agressive, better chin. Your boy going down no doubt, his face will be rearranged by a hard accurate jab that will connect all night.

Tough fight but Loma's gonna come out on top. Boxing skills are just on another level.

Axe man gonna land....it'll be interesting to see how Loma reacts to his power!!...VERY interesting fight!!
Walters very dangerous , he can rough up Loma just with the jab, but when he gets him with the hooks and uppercuts im thinkin Loma going to sleep.
The longer it is, the more the fight is in favour of Loma. Rigo isn't getting any younger and Loma is improving every fight.
I see it being more of a long night for Walters, trying to find a way to use that power. Having power is all well and good, but you need a launcher for the missile also. Loma's defense and movement will give Walters fits. Loma also has a very good chin.
In any case, there's talk that Walters' next opponent is no pushover so this might all be a moot point! Would be crazy if that happened, haha.
You know very little about Walters other than his power.
His chin held up well against a full-blown welterweight in Salido. I'm not sure how heavy Walters gets after rehydrating, but he's going to need everything including the kitchen sink to put Loma away.
This right here is why Loma is overhyped.. This is a fight Walters can win, he can drop Loma, and finish him. The kitchen sink? Walters can just fight safe and win a decision. Walters has a strong jab, thats hurts, he can hurt you with his jab and follow up with his other punches.

The thing with me is, I dont think Loma can effectively fight Walters on the inside. I think he will eventually get dropped trying to fight in close and than beat up pretty bad on the outside. The reach advantage is pretty big.
You bring up some great points, that are making me kind of scared. A few things that will work in favor of Loma will be his patience and Walters is not the fastest guy on the block. His patience so he won't run into anything and just figure a way to slowly but surely attack Walters and find dents in his game. Loma is a fighter that knows he has 12 rounds to work with and takes his time. I usually get mad that he's a little to patient in there, but agaisnt Walters it would actually be a huge advantage. I feel like his patience and not knowing how to pace himself cost him the fight against Salido, although I personally saw him winning, but as you can see I'm a little biased. Loma also has superior hand and foot speed that could help him against Walter, don't let Walters get set. You mentioned Walter's huge reach advantage, Loma may be able to neutralize it with his upper body movement. Loma will have to learn how to sit down on his punches to earn Walters respect.
This is such an intriguing fight.
He has a good jab, but I should have been more specific, I think he throws wide hooks. Don't think I'm trying to make Walters look bad, but as you can see from my avatar I'm a huge Lomachenko fan, so I'm riding for my guy and I'm trying to see what mistakes (or mistakes I feel I see), to see what Loma will be able to do in there.
I like Walters a lot and won't root against him besides Loma, But my boy Lomachenko has to take it!
It's a fight that has to happen and I hope a loss won't affect any of them. They can still go on to have a successful career after their fight.

Nice post. What I meant about certain things not being subjective is that they are facts.
His style is not about throwing wide shots and he is pretty accurate behind his jab. You saying he throws a wide jab?

He sure as heck doesn't throw straight punches. I agree with you to a certain degree but there's certain things people would disagree on when it comes to boxing. Like I say Walters throws pretty wide shots, while you don't think he does. You may say Pacquiao has quicker hands than Khan but I would say it's the opposite.
Walters has a weird punching style. He throws weird looking punches, he does have a sneaky uppercut though. To you it may not seem like he has a weird punching style. But what the hell do you mean boxing is not Subjective, when everyone will have different a opinion on things. It's not just a matter of does or doesn't.
So arguing about this won't lead anywhere. You're always going to disagree with me and I'll disagree with you on this topic.
I just think Walters throws shots that would allow Loma to work while he's throwing. You will disagree, I assume, so yeah boxing is Subjective. Subjective is opinion based!!!
Let's just see what happens if/when they fight.

I have no doubt he will throw alot of jabs in this fight, mixing it up with the sneaky uppercut you mentioned. Nice reach advantage for Walters.
