Someone must've sat him down after the post fight PAC interview and let him know where his bread gets buttered... The BS he was spewing prior to the Canelo vs Kirkalnd fight was at times delusional and other times flat out lies...
"PAC won 4 rounds on some peoples cards with one arm with two imagine what he could've done"
"If you want to blame anyone blame the NSAC... Now all of the sudden they want to follow the rules. That wasn't in line with the spirit of the event" (so bend the rules for PAC max?)
"Had PAC postponed the fight he would've been out for at least 12 months who knows if Floyd would would still be fighting?"
(It was an old injury that he's been fighting with for years if he re aggravated it ... Some rest would've had him ready for September without surgery)
I'm sure someone will post the link but seriously Max normally is the most level headed on HBO but This is the first time I honestly can say I think ... That's over with. Max has compromised the only thing that made him a decent analyst...
sh*t made me lol
Dressing isn't Teddy's strong point... He's the Timothy Bradley of analysts. Bradley's another non dressing dude hahaha ... When he wears a suit he looks like a kid at his 8th grade graduation.
This is dangerous, kellerman, bernstein, merchant, lampley, atlas these are the guys that casual fans used to listen to. If they spew enough of this BS, whether we like it or not, casuals gets energized for rematch again. And we might probably see may-pac 2. Because according to recent rumors by some wackos (Pac clearly won in a slow motion replay in the fight; both missed badly and some of pacs connects were not counted and probably haven't seen clearly by the judges and compubox boys because it was too damn fast)
I watched it in slow motion and so what if Pac clearly won in slow motion replay, it's not how the fight is actually scored wackos no judge watches it in slow motion, no such thing LOL!
Good post. Max was getting respect from all corners all week for his non biased interview and fair, firm questioning of Manny. Even his haters gave him props.
The stuff on the fight last night was the complete opposite. I understand espn and Hbo have a narrative they are pushing and they pay his salary so I wasn't surprised.
Guess money is more important than professional respect for max. I don't blame him- mortgage, gas, food are not paid with respect.
You're right. That's why I said they pulled him to the side and explained very carefully his position at their company and let him know who signs his checks. But take a guy like Teddy Atlas for example. While I don't agree with everything he says because he can say some wacky stuff and can't pick a fight so save his life. The man has integrity, he says what he wants and doesn't worry about the consequence, he will straight up SLAM a fighter regardless of who it is if he sees something he doesn't like.... Aaaaand that's why he's not on HBO or SHO and will always be on ESPN... His house probably isn't as nice as max, his car isn't probably as nice, his wardrobe definitely isn't... But the guy can sleep at night knowing he's his own man and he's not compromising what he believes in for a check... I respect that.
Not sure if I was given the choice to be Max or Teddy that I would automatically choose Teddy I'm flawed... And I'm not trying to come off holier than thou. But damn Max!!! You had it for a second there ... You said what people have been dying to here from an HBO guy for years... You got your props as a result ... And then you just threw it all away last night.
I want to see you guys say something negative about the company you work for at the risk of being fired. It's also true though, they're going to have a rematch and get half the buys, same sh*tty fight and bamboozle boxing fans again. These guys can't retire soon enough.
PAC isn't "the company" he's a part of a small part of HBO as a whole. He's the networks biggest fighter for sure but he's on his way out. I didn't expect them to slam PAC but to be pointing their fingers on all types of directions to make up an excuse for why he lost was cringeworthy and seemed desperate at times. The guy checked that he was uninjured two hours before the fight but according to max he was supposed to have been given the pain killers anyway? If I'm not hurt but I take pain killers before a fight wouldn't that give me an edge in the sense that any pain that might be coming my way would be slightly dulled? ... So in max world the NSAC should just be handing out pain killers too anyone just because? Come on ... You can't seriously are with that! I fail to see the logic.

Not trying to justify/co-sign Team Pac's blatant BS by (falsely) pinning blame on USADA is NOT equal to 'saying something negative about the company you work'.
we understand max has to do his job, its all a hustle, but it takes nothing away from the constant hypocrisy of team pac, and HBO... after 6 years of all this talk we just expected more professionalism from the 2 but its life
What the hell is all this hate on Max? He was just saying what the public perception and how there's a slight chance of the fight being pushed into consideration for next year if there's enough public clamor for it because of the shoulder angle. The fight was a clear win for Mayweather and if these forums are any indication, there's really no warrant for a rematch, but I'm sure there's still plenty of money to mine out of a rematch if they ever wanted it.
Max was saying all this on his radio show the week after the fight, so why are you all gaining up on him?
I don't see what he's saying as "trying to kiss ass" or "save his job" or "push HBO's agenda", he's always considering all the angles. And like it or not however far fetched it may seem, there IS still money left to squeeze out if both fighters were to meet again. I'm not saying it'll make anywhere near the amount they made for last weekend, but there's a nice chunk they'd take home if they decided to do it again...lop-sided win be damned.
How am I hating on him? He changed from Saturday night and I was just calling it as I saw it.

they sat him down n let him know what the deal was lol he switched his whole tune
they probably told him to sell a rematch
I used to think of Kellerman as a bastion of journalistic integrity, but not after this.

Go listen to Kellermans ESPN radio show him and Lampley shit all over him. They were talking about how they'd end up having to hype a Mayweather 50th fight Pacquiao rematch and Lampley said he wasn't allowed to tell fans what he thought (Mayweather would easily win) because of his job. HBO making them hype their fighters.
link?.......
HE is correct, the NSAC is to blame for the simple reason, it is their soul responsibility to make sure that the fighters safety is paramount, if they found out two hours before the fight that Pac was injured, why deny him the legal pain killers, USADA even vouched for him and they did the drug testing.
A lot of fighters don't check of injured when they go in not 100 percent, Floyd and Oscar were both given pain killers before fights and they were never injured. Why didn't they give Pac the shot? this is whats fishy to me. NSAC let a injured man in the ring, its the responsibility of the NSAC to cancel a fight for fighters safety.
I remember there was a fight where a UFC fighter said he hurt his arm an hour before the fight and he was scrapped from the card. NSAC should have either canceled the fight or gave the legal pain killers before.
They let the fight go on for money and let a man in with a disadvantage going in and injury, if they gave Pac his pain killers and let the fight go on than they would have a leg to stand on in the lawsuit, now they are equally at fault and canceled out their suit toward pac.
They should have just gave him the shot, after the fight they could have filed the lawsuit that he lied on his contract. Now they are trying to cover their tracks.
exactly and they're throwing Pac under the bus to save their behind. Not surprised man of integrity would retire after the fiasco.
hbo is going to offer Floyd a contract after he finishes his showtime contract.
don't think for one second they won't give him a call, so they can have the rematch exclusively to themselves.
