JAMES DEGALE has binned his bad boy image in a bid to become loved by the British public.
The London super-middleweight star takes on Andre Dirrell for the IBF title on May 23 in Boston.
DeGale, 29, won Olympic gold in 2008 but was booed on his professional debut in 2009.
He was then criticised for his swearing outbursts in the build-up to the 2011 clash with George Groves and was left red-faced when he lost.

I'd be very surprised if he becomes a star if he wins this fight tbh.
It took Froch winning title vs Pascal, winning a dramatic war vs Taylor and gettng to super 6 final before becoming a legit star when he beat Bute.
Froch was more exciting, better personality and was allied to Football club.
It will take consistent success for someone like Degale to gain a decent following imo.
"a million pound don't go far"
Yeah comments like that are definately going to improve his image...
He's in a very privileged position, loads of people in the country would give anything to be in his position and have the opportunities he's had. Then he makes out it isn't a big deal. A bit of humility would go a long way.
