All I've heard on TV, radio, Internet and in person has been people ripping the fight to shreds. All eyes were on the sport this past Saturday and they blew it. What a damn shame.
nothing can or will ever destroy boxing to real boxing fans, the rest can go away they are not needed them along with the pac fanatics (not fans) can go away for good
Nah. Casual fans aren't fans of boxing, boxing will do fine. This fight happened and did huge numbers despite the relatively drab fights between Oscar - Floyd and Floyd - Canelo or Manny-Mosley etc.
Casual fans don't know anything about boxing, the aftermath of this fight brings out loads of boxing idiots (especially on facebook) and frankly I'd rather they crawl back into the woodwork.
I think his KO at the hands of JMM is still fresh in his mind and is reluctant to take the risks and "sell out".
Floyd on the other hand is getting a pass because he's not known to be an exciting fighter. What I fault him for in this fight like I do in many of his fights is him doing just enough to win rather than stepping on the gas when he's ahead and closing the show and giving something back to the fans.
STop this Bull***** dude. You would never ask any other fighter or athlete to compromise a potential win. You would never ask a team to make the game/match more exciting by risking a loss. You would ask the other team or other athlete to step up.
This was all on Manny for not trying to win, for fighting with no honor or dignity, and for basically coming to get his check and then go home. The JMM loss had no bearing on this fight. he just realized he was in with a better man and showed his true character.
Fault the fact that Pacquiao was unwilling to sell out, that was uncharacteristic, as well as all the smiles in the ring. If all hope was lost he should have swung away like he did against Algieri, make more of an attempt to put himself in a position to win.
He didn't have to sell out against algieri. Algieri was outclassed from the opening bell. Floyd isn't algieri.
I see it this way. Who had the skills and ability that night to do more. Sure Pac could have just went wild and maybe got ko'd in the process. Then the critics would say that he was stupid, wreckless, and got knocked out. He did all he could with what he had. It just wasn't enough against a defensive fighter like Floyd.
The amount of attention and money it made unfortunately it wasn't the fight that the masses expected. Very forgettable affair. It did more harm because ppl are going to be skeptical in buying a ppv and specially one that expensive
Round by round. The active discussion thread for when a fight is happening.
The official thread... why not just call it that you dunce... nah just f.ucking... green k... thanks
But PAC and may still will remain biggest 2 attractions in sport until they retire
When they retire, there will be no ppv stars that can fight anybody in top 10 and sell over 500k buys
And a lot of so called "hardcore" fans that frequent the boxing forums will no longer follow the sport
It'll be me, Hanz, mike d and BeerBro of the remaining pac tards and fl0mos in the RBR threads
Serious question, what is an rbr thread?
All I've heard on TV, radio, Internet and in person has been people ripping the fight to shreds. All eyes were on the sport this past Saturday and they blew it. What a damn shame.
It's an embarrassment! All cuz some f.uck wanted to cover up an injury...
Now not only is the win tainted, Floyd deserves all the credit in the world regardless, but the sport doesn't even live up to the hype anymore...
I'm just disappointed... imagine if the Superbowl played out like this? Ppl will get over it, but how many have already put boxing back on the shelf?

The consensus was that Pacquiao would sell out if he found himself behind, everyone believed it, even I did myself, instead he was hugs, smiles and continued to eat jabs. Blame Pacquiao if anyone because if anything was unexpected, it was that.

I find it so hilarious that people say "you don't know **** about Boxing" if u think that fight was boring. Am I suppose to pretend to be entertained by what I saw??? The fight stunk. At what part was I suppose to be jumping outta my seat or clapping my hands after a spectacular round???
Hence you don't know boxing...the fight was no fight of the year candidate but it wasn't terrible either. It's being blown way out of proportion by casuals just like all big fights.
The fight had a few moments of drama where Pac had Mayweather against the ropes. And it had technical brilliance with Mayweather being able to completely neutralize the "tsunami" that is Pacquiao. Doesn't that in the least impress you?
For people that understand the sport there's a lot of content in that fight to watch over and break down. Anyway, I'm not mad, sucks to be you :nana:
I found the fight pretty boring to be fair. It just felt like watching the same round over and over, with Mayweathers skills being better than Pac's.
I wasn't bothered who won, I'm just glad the fight finally happened and boxing can move on, with more focus on the next generation (hopefully)
At least I know who's better, just not worth the £20 I paid to find out.
Floyd was able to negate Pac's offense with his defense and counters all the while treating the fight like a game of "tag you're it".
Floyd doesn't care about putting on an entertaining fight for the fans. His only concern is a W. Even if it comes via a 12 round potshot and clinch fest.
Pac was unusually inactive not because he wanted to be but because Floyd's defense and counters had Pac leery of letting his hands go. I don't think the shoulder injury had anything to do with Pac's low output. I'm sure if Pac had opportunities to let his hands fly he would have, shoulder injury or not.

I call it a DETOX, it eliminated the TOXINS and the PARASITES that has accumulated since the RISE of Manny Pacquiao. To the Pacquiao fans who are Boxing Fans much respect to you all, to the Pacquiao Fans who was only hear for some type of PRIDE REASSURANCE and to Troll and talk trash:fing26:
So it Eliminated the Childish Trolls from this forum, some of them are still hanging on trying to argue about a Robbery :lol1:
It Eliminates the LEECHES who was USING BOXING to get youtube views and Website Hits...ALL GONE! No more Mayweather vs Pacquiao to talk about so NOW WHAT for them?
As a hardcore Boxing Fan I'm EXTREMELY HAPPY and is ready for the next ERA OF Boxing Post Mayweather and Pacquiao because I think the Next ERA is loaded with Talent FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD and it is going to be a lot of fun watching that next superstar rise and grow just like it was fun watching Mayweather and Pacquiao.
Thank you. Jas, Beercules, Mike D, keep crying lol
Negatives: A lot of people saw a pretty boring fight. Casual fans especially might feel stung by the fact that they were not given what they were sold. It will wear off. A few years ago people in the UK were raging after Haye vs Harrison, fast forward to last year and Froch vs. Groves sells out Wembley Stadium and captures the attention of the country.
Plus: People everywhere were reminded of just how much money boxing can produce. I dont think boxing will be harmed in the long run by a fight which made half a billion dollars to be split between networks, promoters, managers, investors etc. If anything they should be clamoring to set up the next mega fight.
Floyd didnt even have to throw alot of punches to beat pacman, and still schooled pac worse than anybody recently.
Only ppl who dont know **** about boxing would call it "boring" and whine and complain
That's kinda the point though. That fight won't have attracted many new fans to watch again.
The fact that so many are talking about boxing still is great! Good Press or Bad Press is still press. Do you remember everybody saying this same thing after DeLaHoya v Mayweather. Boxing is still fine.
They could have done more for the sport for putting GGG, KOvalev, Crawford, Walters, Imam and Spence on the undercard.
It probably didnt do any harm to the sport, boxing fans will still be boxing fans.
However if the fight had heaps of action then it could of done so much for the sport and gained many more fans.
Its more of a missed opportunity I guess.
