I've been wondering who could be fight that would be a worthy way to go out and becoming champ in another division (making it 6) while fighting cotto again could be great all round. better than a khan fight I think. not a guaranteed win if cotto is genuinely better under roach.. another chance for him to have a go too as a trainer.
He's not above him, but Golovkin is nothing more than a hypejob until he proves himself against a top fighter.
Who at 160 would satisfy your demand for a "top fighter"
MW lineal title would give him lineal titles in 5 weight classes (unprecedented) and give him 3 in the original 8 which I believe no fighter has done since Armstrong.
rather watch him vs cotto rather than anybody else at the moment. see if cotto really did improve. also it could be sold well def will do over a mil but less that there previous fight. ****ing cotto better be doing the most roadwork in his damn life sick of him gassing
if you want to call the title won off of a dude who can hardly walk and defended against welterweights "the lineal MW title," then yes. gennady golovkin is the guy to beat at MW.
The guy who could hardly walk was the lineal MW champ, so that's exactly what it is. And GGG is just going to have to wait his turn. He doesn't want the unification, he wants the money and fame. Floyd and Cotto want the money, fame and glory. They all want the same thing, too bad for GGG he doesn't offer any of the three. If he wanted to show his greatness beating Miguel Cotto isn't the way to do it, beating Carl Froch and Andre Ward at 168 is. Instead, he's fighting fighting Willie Nelson while waiting his turn.
Cotto has a better resume at MW after one fight than Golovkin has amassed after 9 years.
Golovkin doesn't have a great resume, but beating a cripple surely doesn't put someone above him.
