I know a lot of people are saying a boxer can't be measured by stats, but quite frankly it's all we have. This chart is simply to put some perspective into the equation instead of just going off blind opinion. Which is perfectly fine, you can have your opinion. Personally, I think Mike Tyson is the greatest of all time. You put him in his prime with anybody at the same weight and he would kill. His style and skill were just amazing. And that is my opinion. If we just looked at each fighter at their prime this list would be different, but you can't deny the stats when you look at a fighters overall career, and that is what this is about.
So everybody has heard by now how Mayweather feels about himself. I would expect nothing less from a fighter like him. But even so, I was bored and decided to compile stats from Boxrec, and came up with a graph based on 10 major stats that I personally feel are the most important when comparing fighters. All are not here obviously, but I took 5 of the most famous boxers who are usually brought into any pound-for-pound conversations and compared them. In the end, my list ended up like this and Mayweather is not number 1. Nobody needs to get butthurt. Just laying out the stats.
1.) Ali
2.) Joe Louis
3.) Sugar Ray Robinson
4.) Floyd Mayweather
5.) Mike Tyson
6.) Rocky Marciano

Anyone can manipulate stats to make fighters look better or worse. Why do you think he chose "title defenses" instead of "title fight wins"? Because Mayweathers number would be too high if he did that, just counting defences deducts the fights where Mayweather moved up in weight and when he came back from retirement to win titles.
Yea that left out 7-8 title fight wins
Smoke n mirrors
If anything your graphs make a stronger case for him (certainly stronger than I would have guessed). I'd imagine there was another fighter on these graphs but you didn't like seeing his metrics next to the others and conveniently left him off.
probably because that another fighter never claimed to be anything more than what his achievement shows.
and you might have noticed those who are in there are coincidentally all black americans.
im not sure about rocky marciano though
There is no doubt that Mayweather has carefully picked his opponents, especially in the second half of his career. If he beats Manny, he can blow his own horn a little louder. But if Manny beats him, well then we'll know why he's avoided him until now.
Actually since 2009 his comp has been damn good, amazing in his first 39 fights he won 6 titles and 3 lineal titles..since he can back in 8 fights he has won 4 titles and 2 lineal titles
This shows Floyd's ignorance. Ali is dying, first of all. Why not take the high road and show some class? Oh, yeah I forgot, it is Floyd we're talking about here. If Ali and Floyd were the same size, based on styles alone; Floyd gets F'd up 10 times out of 10! His defense only works on B Level guys and he STILL gets hit with flush shots. As a matter of fact, Floyd has taken more punishment in his last 2wo fights, than Manny has his last three. Smh. TBE. What a JOKE he is!!!!!!!!!
10 more days
robinson and marciano fought in an era when there was one world champion.
robinson would take 10 round, non-title fights in between title fights to stay busy and make money.
I know but up until 2013 Floyd was only defending the WBC title,so that holds true
This list is not that thorough because I was bored, but not THAT bored. I wasn't about to list 20 fighters. And Mayweather only said he is better than those two. It is widely believed that Ali and Sugar Ray are TBE, and they are consistently placed in the top 5 of most peoples lists. I put Joe Louis and Rocky because many people make an argument for them as well, especially the older generations. And I like Mike Tyson.
You know who you left off and why...don't lie to us :lol1:
No, Ali got banned from boxing for three years for refusing to enlist in the selective service during the Viet Nam war.

thats right I do remember now, I needed a refresher remember seeing a documentary on it

What I look at is the in-ring performance stats. Floyd had the TOP 3 plus minus in the HISTORY of the sport. It peeked at 30, when he was 33 yrs old. SRL plus minus was 15, and he was washed up at 29 because he didnt train and dedicate himself like Floyd.
Ward currently has a plus minus of 15. But the thing is, boxing has evolved so much. It wasnt no Mayweathers, Pacmans, and Wards runnning around back then. They didnt exist until they got here. Gotta give it up to Floyd. Most skilled boxer in history based on the stats
