Undefeated Floyd Mayweather believes that he is the greatest boxer of all time, eclipsing the likes of Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali.
The highly anticipated showdown between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will be the most lucrative fight of all-time when the two fighters meet the MGM Grand on May 2.
The welterweight showdown between the undefeated Mayweather (47-0) and Pacquiao (57-5-2) is projected to worth in the region of $300m as two of the most talented fighters of their generation finally square off.
Speaking to ESPN, Mayweather is in little doubt over his legacy on the sport.
"No one can ever brainwash me to make me believe that Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali was better than me," he said. "No one could ever brainwash me and tell me that."
I ain't mad at that mentality. Good for mayweather. I don't get why people get so upset about statements like that.
Anything Floyd says sends NSB in an uproar.
Nothing wrong with someone thinking they are the best. Confidence is a necessary evil in the sweet science. Ali called himself the greatest at a very young age....
Mr. Mayweather Jr.,
Although I appreciate the internal rhyme, You really should consider hiring a PR person. Somebody should have stopped you from dropping that line. It does absolutely nothing to improve your public persona.
The only way I see this line as useful is if you actually wanted to secure the villain status for the fight. Come to think of it, that's what you're probably doing. Maximizing profits. Good one.
If not, then I should be available in 2 to 3 years.
he is what he is, all the ***** that comes from his mouth comes from his heart. he thinks he's the god of the sport. poor guy

The problem is floyd can't read
I remember how I first got interested in boxing and that was reading a book about Ali at my schools library. There is no comparison between the two.

Most of it is Nostalgia, and we have been conditioned on who's the best by media.
Same thing with Michael Jordan, people will never admit that anyone is better than Jordan, although people have been comparing Kobe, Lebron and just recently Kevin Durant to Micheal Jordan.
I don't think Floyd is better than Ray Leonard, never mind Ali, but I think people are too harsh, Floyd has earned the right to think he is the best ever.
What would be disrespectful about it, is if it was some young up and comer, IE Broner, Crawford that said it.
I'm amazed in his confidence but sometimes it doesn't work out especially if you're facing a fighter like Manny and that will be his downfall. He strongly believes that because he manhandled Marquez easily whom he cheated on the scales, he'll just walk through on Pacquiao.
Do I agree, resume wise NO.
But I can't knock him for thinking he is the best, who did he get it from? Thats right, Mr Bob Arum was the one who started claiming he was before Mayweather did.
When you get to a certain level you are allowed to think highly of yourself, even if it might not be true.
Bob even says that pac is better then ali.
He is just promoting his fighters.
