I heard this rumor today that the reason why there is no interim WBC belt for the winner of Provodnicov vs Matthysse is because Art Pelullo (Ruslan promoter) didn't want to pay the organisation the sanction fee to make this a title fight. If this is right, is this promoter treating his fighter as a journeyman or what? What do you think?
Maybe he didn't feel like paying it because he knew there's no guarantee of a title fight in the near future and then constantly paying the sanctioning fee for the "title"

Pellulo is a small promoter, the $30,000 or whatever is probably quite a lot of money to be shelling out for Banner Promotions.
I think the winner of this fight gets a PPV date with Pacquiao anyway, that's the real prize.
I don't think belts are meaningless in a division where the champion can't make weight and still hasn't desided to move up...both fighters are on the top of the rankings and i don't think the winner will fight Danny next. Garcia will probably stay at 140 and fight Postol next...
Interm titles are lame. How do you become champ by not fighting the champ? Ruslan has been a world champ and win by beating a champion. Lucas is the desperate one wanting a gimme title
Berto is an interm champ. Nuff said
I know its crazy Berto is the interm champion , all you need is for Keith to come in 148 one pound over in his next fight and Berto is the new WBA world champion without fighting Thurman
Lara , Thurman , Jesus Cuellar, and Emanuel Lopez are all now WBA world champions without having to have to fight for it just cause they were holding the "interim" belt , Don't you see with Danny Garcia leaving the winner is pretty much the new WBC world champion , His promoter made a stupid move

Like others said who cares about the interm. There's no need for it to be a 'title' fight

The simple reason: If Ruslan wins then there'll be a rematch for the title at which point promoter would pay fee, but he has essentially paid one fee for two fights. If he loses then the promoter hasn't paid a fee anyway.. < that's what promoter is thinking.
It's an interim title. Who cares? Lucas already has one in his closet.
The person holding the interim title became world champion without even fighting since Danny Garcia is moving to 147 in the summer..
Makes sense why put the money up when the winner of this fight immediately gets a shot at a full title anyway...
Winner is pretty much the new world champion , Danny leaving to 147
Nobody is watching a fight like this for titles or undefeatedness or tmz gossip or whatever
This is just an epic puncher matchup, who cares who even wins it's gonna rock
Who cares about the interim belt... All this means is more money going to the fighters..
It's not like this fight needs a belt to be a compelling matchup
