TBRB, the RING and Boxingscene all rank Canelo as no.1 at 154, below Champion Floyd Mayweather.
Yet, he hasn't fought in the division for two fights, and if i'm not mistaken, is about to take a 3rd fight outside of 154. You'd think after two fights (as well as a clear intention not to fight there next), he'd be removed from the rankings.
Lara has a TKO victory over Angulo (despite a tough fight), and complete wipeouts over Trout and Smith, all at 154 which I feel warrants him to be ranked higher than Canelo at the weight, if Canelo deserves to be ranked there at all.
Is this nitpicking? Weight divisions are there for a reason. If you fight outside the weight, you shouldn't be ranked there, nor should your victories count unless they are in that division. I'm well aware fighters, often lower ranked ones, take fights a few pounds north of a division, but they don't usually affect the top rankings of a division.

haters gonna hate....
He should love his fans instead of haters, maybe that way he'd fight at 154 or actual MW's.

Lara looked like utter **** in the Ishe Smith fight.
Canelo is a junior middleweight as long as folks consider him a junior middleweight; the only reason he fights at 155 is to avoid paying additional sanctioning fees to organizations where Floyd Mayweather Jr is still the champion (after beating him).
You add that Canelo already beat Lara and has looked better that Lara has, in the performances since losing to Floyd, and the case gets weaker.
I would say he would fight GGG at 155, but again, he has yet to even fight a MW at that weight.
Canelo isn't the future, he is in his own weight class.
Shameful
No, he doesn't beat Gennady.
He said in an interview he intends to fight at 155 and that's it. :dunno:

just like he was scared of trout and lara... you said the same before, and canelo keeps proving you wrong, im telling you, you are on the wrong side but not for long... you will be rooting for canelo by 2016...

dont even bother, let them hate, 1lb is all they need to hate even if no titles are on the line..

Lol come on don't be f*cking boxing novices guys. Any non-title fight at any weight class you can still be considered at that weight class if you are one pound over. It's allowed. A junior-middleweight fight can be sanctioned and still be considered a junior-middle weight/super-welterweight fight at 155. Which is what canelo has been fighting at.
Let me guess, you guys are some of the same people that say Broner missed weight in his last fight too, right?
Yea thought so. Educate yourselves instead of down-talking fighters who aren't being non-professional.
Kid is only 24 years old and has Cuello, Gomez, Cintron, Mosley, Trout, Mayweather, Angulo, Lara, now he's about to add Kirkland on his record and he's only lost to one time that was to mayweather.
Let's not forget miguel vasquez twice.

Call me when someone in or around 154 beats him that's not named Mayweather. I'll be waiting by the phone. I might be grey by then.
Call me when he fights a MW after being a MW for 3 fights. I can only imagine if Cotto/Floyd or Manny did the same sh*t Canelo is doing. The hate would be astronomical, but since it's Canleo it's okay.
You are making a federal case over a pound. Everybody ranks him number one because his record says he is number one. Boxrec also ranks him right behind Mayweather. Non title fights don't have to be fought at the class limit and seldom are. Hundreds of other fighters fight a pound or two over the class weight limit in non title fights. It's not against any rules and there is nothing wrong with it. Hell, Kirkland fought at a catchweight of 156 in his last fight. Clearly large junior middleweights like Kirkland and Canelo have to sruggle to make 154 and they won't do it unless it's for a title. This does no one harm and breaks no rules. When Canelo was the 154 pound champion he always weighed 154 or less when he defended his title didn't he. If he fights for the 154 pound title again he will make 154 again. If he can't make weight he will move up to 160. If you don't think he deserves to be ranked as the top 154 pounder then don't rank him there. All the ranking places will still have him right behind Mayweather at 154 and rightfully so. What you should be asking is why Mayweather is number one at 154 when he hasn't fought at that weight in well over a year and as no plans to ever fight at that weight again.
If you want to be ranked so highly (or be champion, as you say) at 154 pounds, you fight at 154 pounds. Kirklands fight at 156 had no bearing to me as to where id rank him at 154 pounds. Theres a reason non-title fights are usually over the weight class, because those fights arent in the weight class and no title/ranking is applicable. Yet Canelo is still rank 1? It breaks no rules, but claiming hes the best 154 pound fighter by beating others at 155 is strange to me. If he struggles so much to make 154, maybe he wouldnt have won? Just speculating.
I could ask the same about Mayweathee, youre right. Theyve both fought outside 154 for over a year. But Mayweather earnt his title in the ring within 154 pounds., Canelos ranking isnt earnt in the ring at the weightclass hes supposed to fight

He's Canelo. He gets the special white privilege treatment.
You're not wrong about dropping him since he's going on his third fight in a row over 154, but no one else has done anything to supplant him. Like it or not, Alvarez did get a decision he deserved against Lara, and that trumps Lara's other wins at the moment.
Yea but that fight was at MW.

Completely agree, he hasnt had a win in the division since April 20th, 2013. Thats almost exactly 2 years.
Same with Danny Garcia, he hasnt had a "win" at 140 in more than a year
