manny done won 31 of 36 rounds since the Marquez KO, but yeah he shot tho
seriously if anyone really believes that Pac is truly shot needs to have their boxing card revoked, or at least harshly scrutinized and suspended
He's not what he was in his prime, obviously, and neither is Floyd
I'm a Manny fan but I'll give Floyd 100% credit if he wins May 2nd. No excuses. Despite them being on the tail ends of their respective careers, they're still both 2 of the best in the world in the sport
respect to both of them
Didnt floyd sucker punched gatti in that fight? TBE doe, protect urself at all times doe
Yeah, first round, knocked down gattI with a hook after the ref broke them up
Yes, it would be a lot worse, but it is not going to happen so it doesn't matter. Floyd didn't "Gatti" Robert Guerrero, who posed him no threat whatsoever. He hasn't pulled a Gatti on anyone he's fought since Gatti, who subsequently got Gatti'd by Baldomir and Gatti'd/retired by Gomez.
I'd have to say it would be. As somebody has already mentioned, Gatti didn't win 1 second vs Floyd. It was so one-sided I remember finding hard to watch at times.
Don't think it will happen though. Unless it's a bluff (quite possible), with Roach saying about how Manny has got to be careful not to walk into Floyd's trap and that their tactics must be spot-on I think he'll be overly cautious, Floyd will pot-shot and pick up points as usual and it will be a boring fight, with Floyd winning fairly comfortably and taking over more and more as the fight goes on and Manny gets frustrated. I'll still watch with great interest though.
My two pennies' worth :boxing:
I don't see Floyd ever having a Gatti type performance ever again in his career. That was Floyd in his absolute prime against a fighter who was several years passed his. The only way Floyd could recreate that type of performance again is he fought someone like a Mike Alvarado. A walking, talking, punching bag who's over the hill.
May 2nd is still a 50/50 fight to me. It's way too difficult for me to see one guy dominating the other.
Pacquiao is shot.
floyd has the benefit of a calculated retirement and his defensive style prolongs a fighters prime.
If manny is shot, then what are roy jones, toney, and Judah
You do realize that since the ko loss, manny has beaten 3 world class fighters, 2 of them undefeated Titlists, all 3 with different styles, and manny maybe lost 4 Rds combined. many welters not named floyd would be hard pressed to do that.
Manny isn't prime, but neither is floyd.. Neither are shot, and both are still top p4p guys.. Its going to be a great fight
Pac was pushing JMM's **** in before that KO. People tend to gloss over that point.
and a round before that he was being Knocked down by JMM.. :bottle:
Yes, being gatti'd is worse.. At least manny was in a wild shootout and in a close fight..
Gatti never won 1 second of that entire fight.. It was a total shutout destruction on par with roy-paz, toney-Barkley
Acting like Floyd Mayweather beating up Arturro Gatti is a big deal is fking ridiculous.
That's what happens when a B level guy fights an Elite fighter...
Stupid ***** logic..
a boxing war takes a couple of boxing prime years from a fighter. that version of gatti was clearly shot.
I don't deny he was not his best but people make it out that he would have done well against floyd before that, Gatti would never win a round against Floyd at 140.
if Floyd actually Gatti'd pacquiao it would propel him to ali, ray robinson, henry Armstrong type mythical status.. I'm not sure Floyd can actually gatti manny, but it would be the most illustrious victory in the sport since maybe the holifield Tyson era
you may not believe the ray robinson comparisons, but if Floyd gatti's manny and retires undefeated, years from now all would agree.. Floyd is top 3
