It would be contingent on how dominant Mayweather is in his next bout against another high level opponent, AFTER losing to Pacquiao. This will help to ensure that Mayweather was in no way "washed-up" at 38 during his match with Pacquiao as many are claiming him to be.
In addition to that, there absolutely won't be ANY conspiracy theories of Mayweather having thrown the fight against Pac due to him having chosen the fight venue and referee, along with MP having conceded to all of his demands.
Lastly, Mayweather has a habit of staying in shape all year round, while using a style of boxing that allows him to take the least amount of damage possible in a boxing match. This in-turn should keep him fresher than virtually anyone he faces in the ring, regardless of age.
Therefore, there really aren't any excuses to be made by Mayeather or his fans to begin with.
They both gain a little prestige with a win over each other. After all of their time in the sport their legacy is pretty well documented and it won't change much. To me its only one fight and both are past their best!

I have debated this right after Pac cleaned MAB, Morales and JMM, and already rated Pac top 10 after that.
And that was before Pac annihilated DLH, Hatton and Cotto. After that Pac was top 3 in my book.
Then he added Margarito and Bradley and make Floyd **** on his Pants and duck for 5 years!
Even after Pac got Kayoed by JMM which he already beaten twice anyways! Actually Pac was robbed the 1st time Pac's the clear winner in the 1st fight. The 4th fight was not necessary but Floyd ducking Pac for years made that fight Happen!
And Now Floyd will Pay bigtime! Pac KOing Floyd will make him the Greatest in my book!
looks at his name stop reading his reply let me guess he is number 1

You're basically admitting that you place Floyd over Oscar and Hopkins in ATG lists.. lol I agree
Mostly referring to the fact that Oscar was horrible at mw, but yeah I would have floyd over hopkins in ATG rankings
Lmao
Hopkins over Oscar
Rjj over Hopkins
No way are those better than taking Floyd's O
You're basically admitting that you place Floyd over Oscar and Hopkins in ATG lists.. lol I agree
no way top 10. Of the top of my head here are some victories that others have achieved which are better,
SRR over Kid Gavilan
LaMotta over SRR
Basillio over SRR
SRL over Hearns
Duran over SRL
Hagler over Hearns
Ali over Foreman
Frazier over Ali
Norton over Ali
RJJ over Hopkins
Hopkins over OLDH
OLDH over Whittaker
Lmao
Hopkins over Oscar
Rjj over Hopkins

Manny already has great wins over many top names already, add a W over Mayweather and what you would be left with, in my opinion, is arguably a top 10-15 ATG.
He already has a great legacy, beating Floyd would seriously put a stamp on his claim to all time greatness. Only idiots and fanboys would say beating floyd means nothing. There is a reason this fight is huge, to disregard how serious a W is towards legacy with this fight would only serve to dumb down how important this fight is, therefore only idiots do so.
Beating the fellow greatest fighter of your era who is undefeated and seriously talented himself obviously boosts your ATG status.
Some people really do enjoy talking straight out of their anuses.
Who are these 25, 30 imaginary fighters who have accomplished more and have as impressive a legacy as Pacquiao if he beats mayweather?
Please list them.
So you admit that Floyd is better than Pacquiao.
Except for the fact that 90% of fans and experts thought that the Bradley fight was a straight up robbery, and every Pac-Marquez fight was competitive. The comparison is just bad. Saying Pac "lost four fights to Marquez" is laughable. If you want to do a reasonable comparison, do Pac-Bradley 1 vs. Mayweather-Castillo 1.
The fact that you're crapping on Pac's resume while praising Mayweather's is just nonsensical. If you're "trying to be consistent," you're doing a terrible job at it. Your bias is could not be more obvious.
Actually that's a stupid comparison.

The first Pacquiao-Bradley fight was competitive. The entire back half of that fight had rounds where Manny did nothing until the last thirty seconds and then Ali-flurried at Bradley to get the crowd excited. It was by no meanss a whitewash. I agree it was a worse decision than Pacquiao-Marquez III, but I also think the third Marquez fight had rounds in which the winner was obvious, whereas a lot of people disagree about who won what rounds in Pac-Bradley I.
Anyway I think legacy-wise Pacquiao and Mayweather are already up there with the likes of Duran and Leonard. Time will be kind to their accomplishments. The winner will definitely be in discussion as a top 10 ATG, and dare I say it, if the winner can go on to rematch Cotto at middleweight and beat him for the middleweight title he can retire as a strong GOAT candidate.
I'm no nuthugger but I admit, manny is my fav boxer since Roy jones.
That being said, a clear dominating win over floyd would put him in the top 25, at best...
His career has been marvelous and he's done so much for the sport of boxing, but no way does that make him top 10, much less top 3. People who say that don't know boxing or boxers in history too well...
If floyd beats manny very clearly, and goes on to fight two of the bigger names in boxing and beats them also and retires a perfect 50, that would put him In the top 25 for sure...
I dislike floyd but can still salvage some of his legacy with what he does in the next three fights...
I think what a lot of western fans don't understand is HOW MUCH of an impact Pacquiao has brought to Asia when it comes to boxing...
Ali is that last boxer who has had that much of a generational impact. It may not be obvious here stateside but go to Asia etc...... and Pacquiao is an icon. Let alone his boxing resume.
Lol at haters in NSB, feeling like experts, lots of experts here. i remember when people are talking here that if he beats dela hoya he goes top 10, when golden boy retired they say if he beats cotto he is sure top 10. After he demolished cotto boom! Now pac should defeAt sergio martinez but it did not happen. Then comes this floyd ducking challenge, he needs to fight floyd to crack top 10 lols.
Truth is you ****ing wannabes dksab! Truth hurts, your ****ing fanboys who degrades a boxer and not rate him as what he is entitled to. But its okay when all of you ****loads of posers boxing fanboys are dead Pac will be remembered as the new generation all time great, beating the **** out of floyd would just be the icing on the cake.
You ****ing retards always remember this: he fought morales, barera and marquez multiple times and that only considers him to be an all time great. They are the four kings of the new generations.
And you hold your dildos fanboys, no one has elevated the sports of boxing since Ali and elevated it Globally other than PAC! Haters gonna hate and that is true, downplaying his achievements would be stupidity at its best!:boxing:
simply trying to be consistent; if people are bent on making a stink about the judges decisions in the Bradley fights, then those same folks should be ready to make a stink about the Marquez fights too.
You can't cry about the decision in the first Bradley fight and then go mum when the 2nd and 3rd Marquez fights are brought up. You look foolish trying to have it both ways.
if that's "haterade", so be it.

^^^^^^ lol
Seriously, are you trolling or just a idiot. You discredit Pacs resume and say why this win isn't that great or this fighter was this at the time you could find that in Floyds resume to, right?
Genaro Hernandez (38-2): two-time world champion at 130; 14 successful title defenses.
Diego Corralles (40-5): two-division, multi-time world champion who walked into the fight with Mayweather 33-0, 27 KOs, and the #1 rated fighter at the weight (#5 P4P)
I'd honestly like to hear about these 15 Pacquiao opponents that would be better than Hernandez and Coralles. just for ****s and giggles.
All you did was discredit Pacs resume and then name fighters and why they were good wins for Floyd.
Genaro Hernandez- Past prime, was having a tough time making the weight and felt drained leading up to the fight but he was professional about it.
Castillo- Alot of people think he lost the first fight.
Gatti- Noting more then a club fighter no matter how you try to spin him. Floyd only fought him for the $$$ and to get on ppv, he even said he is a c class fighter and that everyone knows Kostya Tszyu is the real champ.
Diego Corrales- Was having legal troubles and was going to jail.
Hatton- fights him at 147
Canelo -CW
Marquez- brings him up 2 weight classes, "but he called Floyd out", cool, 144 it is, but he couldn't even make that.
Even Pacs Lineal titles are better.
MAB- p4p at the time and beat Naz for the lineal
Chatchai Sasakul- who beat Yuri Arbachakov who was in the p4p rankings at the time
Marquez
Hatton
Floyd Lineal titles
Hernandez- who beat a old zoom zoom for it.
Castillo- the only good name he has here
Baldomir- lol ya....
Canelo- Cw
Morales, Barrera, Marquez, all of them in their prime. De La Hoya and Mosley.
Cotto, Hatton, Margarito, Bradley.
A win over Mayweather would make Manny's career complete.
^^^^^^ lol
