Why is this seen as a win not even worth mentioning?
Seeing everyone say that Khan hasn't a win worth mentioning in the last few years made me think of this.
Have we forgotten that Khan AND Brook were apparently ducking Devon Alexander barely a year ago?
So the fighter that Brook and Khan ducked, when Khan beats him he becomes a win not even worth mentioning? :lol1:
Why is this?
Genuine question, is the Alexander win not a notable win?
Let's leave the other crap out of this thread as i'm sure we can all agree that Khan is terrified of Brook and Bradley, and has the worst resume in the history of the sport and is the most cowardly fighter of all time.
alexander was tailor-made for khan and his stock plummeted after porter beat him up. it is by no means comparable to brook's win over the guy who had already beaten alexander
I think that's unfair to say Alexander was picked because he was a favourable match up for Khan, yes in hindsight he was but before Khan beat him i didn't see many saying it would be as easy a win as it was.
The same favourable match up Alexander was the one Khan apparently ducked when he waited it out for Mayweather, didn't see many at the time saying ''no point anyway, Khan would beat him easy''.
I think Alexander was a very solid win for Khan, i for one didn't expect it to be as easy a win as it turned out.
Alexander is a solid name, and a better win than Algieri will be should Khan beat him.
So i disagree when people say Khan has no notable wins since 2011.
But yeah, your point still stands, Algeiri isn't gonna show us jack sh1t.
What did Alexander do when Kotelnik established himself as the better boxer? Devon still kept trying to box, and although Alexander is decent at pressing the action he can't fight on the inside which is why he holds a lot. If that isn't a favorable matchup, then what is man?
It's a good win. I give him full credit for it. My problem is what he is doing after beating Alexander. He beat a 9/10 ranked welterweight and is now fighting a guy who isn't even on the map.
The next logical fight would have been Brook or Thurman to put him in position to fight the Mayweather/Pacquiao winner for the undisputed title. Instead he wants to take the easy route and hope for a phone call.
It's a pretty decent win. It was a step up from his previous fight which is all you can ask for really. Was a good performance to shut him out too.
But lets be real and I said this all along. It was a perfect style for Khan to look brilliant against. I always felt that even when they were at 140lbs.
I knew Khan would win virtually every round and the only chance he'd have of losing was if Devon pulled out some hail mary uppercut like he did against Urango.
Whenever Khan beats someone haters find a way to downplay it
Its just like when Floyd or Pac beat someone, people will find flaws
Leading up to the fight people on here were saying Devon vs Khan is a 50/50 fight, and then when Khan dominated and won the fight... came the excuses "Devon wasnt at his best"
Even leading up to the Collazo fight people on here said Khan was going to get knocked out many saying Collazo is too big for Khan, and then Khan batters the living **** out of Collazo,, "Collazo was washed up"
It's a solid win but it isn't worth mentioning because it doesn't tell us anything, we already knew that Alexander fights with a lack of understanding, trying to outbox the rangier more talented boxer told us that already. What we want to find out is, is Khan still the same guy who got beat around the ring against Peterson, lost to Garcia and looked horrible against Julio Diaz? I personally think he's that or maybe even less than that at this point.
No way of us ever knowing that since Khan seems keen on fighting guys who are favorable style match ups, guys who can't punch or fight a lick on the inside.

Because Devon got his ass kicked in the year between Khan deciding not to fight him and changing his mind. Alexander was riding a bit of false mystique at the time, where some people thought he was a different fighter at 147, not realizing his competition was the reason he looked different. Same thing happening with Khan right now.
I won't say it's not worth mentioning, but it sure as hell didn't matter as much once Porter was finished with Alexander, and it was always a stylistic dream for Khan. That's why people couldn't understand the reluctance to fight him before.
I think it's a good win, devon has one of the best resumes out there. The problem is devon has looked absolute dog **** since porter beat him around the ring. So while its a good win on paper it lacks relevance in division.

Also don't ban a brother BigPoppaPump, i didn't wanna post in the Khan thread as that thread is a bit of a joke, let's be honest. I don't even bother reading it anymore, as i'm sure most others on here don't.
No proper debate can be had in that thread.
