I wouldn't put it past Tyson Fury to do something this ballsy. But will he actually go through with it?

That's true, if he tried to grapple with them.
Don't swallow the bullsh1t. MMA fighters are not supermen. One punch in the head from a world class heavyweight boxer boxer like Fury, wearing those little lightweight MMA gloves, would knock any one those half dozen guys spark out, and Cain Velasquez too.
Why do you think Dana White didn't call Fury's bluff - if he was bluffing - and offer him a fight with Cain?
The answer is that he had no idea what would have happened if he'd done that.
We've never seen an elite level boxer in his prime going up against an elite MMA fighter, ever.
ya the stand up would completely go in furys favor no question not even arguable the best boxer in mma is not a good boxer it just depends if he could learn enough on the ground to cover his ass
Fury has the best legs in HW boxing, he'll dance away from any attempted takedown while landing precise counter-punches.
I see :lol1:
Being that tall in MMA is a detriment ,he will getting taking down easy by any capable grappler.
That's what I'm thinking. He would indeed be a huge target. Once somebody takes him down, it would be game over.
How is Fury's ground game, though? Would he know how to use his long legs?

I have no doubt the furious one would KO any of these MMA girls. You can't compare Fury to a fat disgrace like James Toney.

yea you could tell the kick was a devastating one?lmao....he was over 300 pounds from his 260 in shape weight...stick to the beer you idiot...lol
So he agreed to keep it a boxing match by throwing a kick within the first couple of seconds of the start of the fight, yeah? :dunce:
:lol1: @ you retards discussing this.
as far as this joke of a fioight you have here...it was ORIGINALY a boxing match and was later changed to MMA b/c of rules in a different state, but BOTh fighters agreed to keep it a standing match /boxing only with MMA gloves on
And Sylvia broke that agreement immediately by throwing a leg kick.
Top ten ranked heavyweight, two years removed from being UFC champion, and he gets KTFO by a middle-aged, physically decrepit old fart. :lol1:
So you have some idea of what you could expect, but a Kickboxer is a striker just like a boxer! Add to that a division 1/2 wrestler, do you know how to adjust then?
Now try to string it all together... Trying to find an opening to land your punch, while in your mind wondering if you'll need to check a kick or if your opponent wants to shoot a takedown... Only for him to blast you with a straight right down the pipe!
The boxers stance, which most certainly is a problem, regardless of you "adjusting", is only the first hurdle! You also need to take into account 4oz MMA gloves, you said that mma guys wouldn't be able to deal with a boxer punching them with... That's true, if the boxer could land, see there's a huge difference defending blows with boxing gloves than mma. The same defences don't work because punches slip through! Fury and other boxers would be at a huge disadvantage as the mma guys know what it takes to block a punch with them!
Then take into account high kicks! How do the block those?? Because just putting your hands up isn't going to work for fury if he had a K1 champ like Alistair Overeem throwing those poles at him, it'll break his arm like kindling if he tried...
What I'm saying is just the tip of a very dangerous iceberg! Now like I said before I'm a boxing fan, but I'm also a realist! It's a big, dark, deep ocean MMA.. And there's a lot of sharks, fury wouldn't beat any top 10 guys, whatsoever!

After White said that, Furys twitter page went silent!
So Dana White said Fury should come on over at some obscure Q&A session.
That's hardley offering him a fight with Cain. I doubt Fury even knew White had said that.
Do you really believe what you wrote there about about MMA fighters being better at defending against punches than boxers? I mean, seriously?
Fury's punches would be faster, more accurate and much harder than anything Cain has experienced before. And There's no way Cain would be catching Fury with any head kicks. Lol.
I'm not saying Fury would beat Cain, and I'm not even sure if his challenge was serious or not. But if it happened he would definitely have a chance. One clean punch from Fury is all it would take to end the fight there and then.
Pro MMA is not the deep, dark pool you think it is. Boxing is a much bigger sport, with more competition and much more money to won. And more money, of course, means a better calibre of athlete, overall.
There's a big difference between fighting and winning!
Ray Mercer, who was pushing 50 at the time, KO'd former UFC champion Tim Sylvia in his first ever MMA fight.
Yeah you're right... I could totally see fury excelling in Darts and Bowling!!
Imagine Tyson Fury's colossal power transferred into a golf swing. With a little training, he'll put Tiger Woods to shame.
Some athletes like Fury are just genetically gifted and would probably excel at any sport they turned their hand to.
Yeah you're right... I could totally see fury excelling in Darts and Bowling!!
Utter moron but if guys like Bob Sapp, Hong Man Choi and that fat Sumo guy can fight top MMA heavyweights then why not? I don' think he will tho, way more money to be made in boxing.

I've competed as a boxer and kickboxer, so I know how the boxing stance needs to be adjusted if your legs are going to be targeted in a fight by someone who knows what he's doing.
When I first started learning kickboxing - as a boxer - my main sparring partner was the British and European pro kickboxing champ. Whenever he spotted me setting my feet to throw punches he would drop down and sweep my lead leg out from under me, then tell that if he'd used a front kick to the knee instead, that would have been my cartiledge smashed.
I'm too old to compete nowadays, but I still train and I spar, including grappling, with MMA guys who train at the same gym and do ok.
They're not Cain Velasquez, but I'm not a 6.9, 18 st world class heavyweight boxer either.
Can you post evidence about Cain offering to fight Fury and Fury backing down ... links, videos, whatever? Because I don't believe it ever happened.

It's not about being supermen, it's about having a few months of training in something vs someone with a lifetime of dedication. Cain grew up a wrestler, that's his background. It would take him a matter of seconds to put someone on the mat that hadn't also spent years in developing and perfecting technique on how to reverse or stuff said take downs.
If Fury and Cain fought in a boxing match, I'd give Fury the win 99 times out of 100, and if Fury went into a cage for an MMA fight, it's Cain's for the taking 99 out of 100 times. To me the debate about boxers going into MMA or MMA fighters trying out boxing is like getting Usain Bolt and Mo Farah to run a race. Who wins? Well it depends on if it's a 10,000 meter run or a 100 meter dash. Now that doesn't mean that an elite athlete can't switch sports and thrive in both, but that takes years of dedication, not just a couple of months before going against one of the best in the world.
Fury has trained with MMA fighters and kickboxers at the gym he uses in Begium, so he wouldn't be completely naive in an MMA fight.
I disagree with your assessment of his chances vs Cain in boxing and MMA.
In boxing, Cain would not have even a 1% chance of beating Fury. Fury would win every time.
In MMA, I really have no idea how it would turn out, and neither does anyone else. We've never seen a prime world class boxer in an MMA fight, so I'm going to call it a 50/50 fight.
See this is where I have to laugh!
Have you ever tried to broaden your horizons and test yourself? I have actually gave training in grappling and mma a go to get fit. I boxed amateur as a kid, so I went in to sparring pretty confident! I was tapping within a minute!
First things first an elite boxer does have a punchers chance, but that's it, 99/100 times he will lose against an base average mma guy! The reason is the boxers stance does not fit in real life because it gives up the legs!
You say Fury "Wouldn't try to grapple", do you think the mma fighter cares or that it would stop him?? He'd throw a low kick and then shoot the single or double leg and Tyson wouldn't have one iota how to deal with it!
You say Dana didn't call Furys bluff?? You realise that it was Fury who pulled out of that fight... Velasquez would brutalise him... He'll the UFC's Middleweight champion Chris Weidman would do that too

Will never unify as the UFC belts are legit world title, the only true world title in mma..
Bellator titles are secondary and the champs, contenders, etc aren't anywhere near the level of UFC
It would be like floyd unifying welter championship vs a NABF or EU champ
There are some organisations that have very good champs or contenders but I agree with you for the most part!
I'd be interested to see UFC vs One FC champs fight at welterweight! Ben Askren is legit!
