Hearn: Khan’s next opponent will disappoint people

Adrian Broner, Keith Thurman, Chris Algieri and Miguel Cotto were named yesterday by Sky Sports as the four leading contenders to fight Amir Khan next, but Eddie Hearn promoter of current IBF welterweight champ Kell Brook isn’t buying it. “I don’t think Amir Khan will fight any of the names mentioned apart from maybe Chris Algieri,” Hearn told Sky Sports News HQ. “I can’t wait for Kell Brook to knock him out. Khan is under a lot of pressure at the moment because the public want the fight. I’ve been trying for years and years to make the fight and obviously Amir’s always told Kell to go win a world title. “We’d love to fight Khan now. June 13 at Wembley is there for him but there’s no real interest from Khan in the fight…they aren’t even entertaining any negotiations for this fight but they have to put on a brave public face now because the demand is so strong…right now, Kell is golden and Amir is struggling to find an opponent. Whatever opponent he’ll choose on May 30 isn’t going to be Kell Brook and that’s not what the public want.
