Russel was a perfect example. I said this in another tread yesterday. Some fighters need to get that (L) out of the way so they can move on and improve.
Then there are other fighters who's world spiral out of control after defeat. I guess you could say their mettle is either forged or they're undressed.
There are guys like Alvarado who never recover from loses. But then he's not a Haymon fighter. He was given Provo and Marquez right after recovering his belt. A Haymon fighter will go back to fighting cab drivers after a loss. They even get to fight Salkas after a big win.
Matchmaking is a science. Haymon is an expert.
russell is with haymon...wouldnt really say gonzalez is on salkas level lol...
after he stretched mares people where hyping him to biblical proportions on this site lol

Then there's fighters like Broner. I don't know what's flowing through his head but he's done nothing worthwhile since losing to Maidana.
Broner i think had already shown an unwillingness to learn even before his loss.
Mayweather said (paraphrasing) that "I was trying to show Broner some things, telling him he wouldnt get away with some of the stuff he was doing at this level, but he would just shake his head and say "I got this, I got this"..."
Its like, the no.1 p4p fighter in the world and one of the fighters of his generation is trying to teach you, you f*cking listen lol.
1 loss could be worth countless wins over bums if you learn from it.
When you get to the top you are going to have to deal with adversity at some point, surely its better to learn what do before you are fighting for World titles for however many thousands of dollars?
