I mean you gotta be kidding me...The guy knocked him out in 6 rnds! It should be a KO6 on his record (or whatever rnd it was, I didn't check sorry)...Who gets a pass on a 13 second count? It's really unfair to Tyson.
He is one of my favorite fighters of all time and he was screwed that day...And people act like the losses he went on to have weren't attributed to that first loss directly. After that he went to prison, came out in different shape, then one thing lead to another and it was all a downward spiral of unfortunate events for Tyson...

nope. saw an hbo special on that fight and it indeed was a 10 count. tyson got beat fair and square. buster just happened to be the better man that night. get over it and move on
Precisely. Not to mention the fact that Pacquiao was coming off a loss so he needed an easy win to get his confidence back, and get back in the win column. He misjudged Juan Manuel Marquez as an easy win.
Meanwhile JMM was looking at this opportunity as his chance to avenge his 3 losses to Manny, he was putting everything into it. He even took up to taking power pills, or something.
That's just dumb.
If Tyson was a nice likeable guy a bigger fuss would have been made over the long count that saved Douglas from a KO. The fact is Tyson was a very dislikeable person. He was a very nasty guy. He was a bully and a thug who talked about raping his opponents and making them his girl friend. As a younger man before he was a boxer he robbed old ladies on the streets. He beat up some old people as an adult because of a fender bender involving his car that he bought out of what was pocket change to him at the time. Most people were glad to see him lose the fight and didn't care if Douglas got a long count. I am not saying that's fair or right but just answering your question. I remember the fight well and Douglas should have been counted out.
The ref blew it, people will say that Tyson had a equally long count but that's not the point. Had the referee counted the way he was supposed to the fight would have been over before Douglas could drop him.
Still though, it is what it is. And that's a loss for Tyson. Douglas dominated the fight and neutralised Tyson.
Two of the scorecards for that fight were disgusting.
He lost, Mike was in no shape to fight that night. Mike did land a good punch, but that was it, Buster beat Tyson fair and square.
The rule in boxing is NOT 10 seconds, it is a 10 count, Buster was not KO'd, he hit the canvas, he could have got up sooner, but I'm sure he was stunned.
There definitely should have been an immediate rematch, but Tyson's camp (Don King) protested the fight and that probably killed the rematch. Would have been interesting to see if Tyson got revenge (I think he most likely would have), or if Buster could beat him again.
Tyson got dropped in sparring right before the fight, they should have just cancelled the fight (happens all the time in boxing) and fought Holyfield after a better training camp, but truth be told once Mike dropped Rooney, he was going to lose to any fighter that wasn't scared, had a good jab and could take a punch.
There should've been an immediate rematch.
I'm pretty sure Tyson would've knocked him the fuck out in a rematch.
There couldn't have been however cuz the winner was scheduled to fight holyfield if memory serves me correct.
okay pacquiao fans are officially out of control with their excuses, so now he got koed cause of got robbed by bradley in his previous fight.... smh

Just like Manny, after he got screwed by Bradley. He went on to get knocked out in his next fight by Juan Manuel Marquez.
I'm telling you there's a science behind it. When you get screwed in your last fight, you come back not as the same fighter..It takes a certain zest out of you.....
