One thing I don't think many fans or boxing experts realize about Mayweather is that he focuses on doing what he does best in the ring. Floyd loves to throw lead lefts, jabs to the body, straight right hands and rights to the body.
You don't see him stray from those selection of punches too much, although he can get creative.
I have always felt that Floyd's game was to get his opponents frustrated as the fight wears on. To turn their attacks into futile attempts. It may take a few up front rounds, but he usually catches on as the fight wears on. Floyd confirmed that in recent interviews. While Manny will focus on what he sees are flaws in Floyd's defense. However those "flaws" to the spectator's eyes aren't new. We've all watched Floyd and said "hey, all you have to do is bust his arms and shoulders. All you have to do is jab him. All you have to do is throw a quick straight left from southpaw. All you have to do is beat the body and rough him up. But I don't think we give him credit for his offense and ability to frustrate guys to where those strategies they are trained for, begin to become less effective after round 3 or 4.
While many say that Floyd hasn't seen anything like the combination of speed and force that Manny will bring. I think that Manny's undoing will be the fact that he's struggled with guys like Marquez and Bradley. Simply because those two can get caught up in engaging with Manny. But Floyd will do what they did successfully, do it better, but NOT get caught up in engaging with Manny.
Ultimately my belief is that fans will be surprised at how Floyd handles Pacman with ring generalship. And we'll witness how frustrated Pacman will get to where he may pull some fouls.
Manny deserves more credit than just being fast. He is very skilled. However Floyd is more than just defense. He is very relaxed in the ring and focuses on taking his opponents strengths away from him. Ultimately that will be Pacman's undoing.
Floyd adjusts to Pacman's blind flurries that get the crowd standing even when non land cleanly. Begins to frustrate and touch him up.
