I've been very impressed with the matchmaking that NBC has done for their new prime time boxing. Why couldn't HBO, Showtime or ESPN get these matchups?
I think most of the fights were matched pretty well except for Broner-Molina which was essentially two low volume fighters in there. Unfortunately the fight turned into a worst case scenario when Broner showed up a little heavy. Broner can be exciting..but he showed he was out of shape and really only flourishes when someone is coming into his wheelhouse...when he is forced to initiate (and isn't in good shape) he can't turn on the showmanship and I think that is what happened.
but putting all the TV stuff to the side...it's a good win for Broner as a fighter though as he was able to mitigate a right hand that is thrown at the same angle as Maidana's. Bad for TV, good for him. I've enjoyed the other fights
I don't like the matchmaking very much but that can be said about boxing in general. But every match so far besides Lopez vs berto has clearly been Guy Al wants to win vs Guy Al would prefer not to win.
It's not NBC, it's Haymon doing the match-making.
Haymon wasn't going to start the PBC off with bad cards.
They paid out about $5 million for the first fight card.
We'll see whether the money and the match-making can/will continue like that for the length of the deal or further.
That $5 million might was just the purses. Combined with the price of the time slot he had to put on some half way interesting match ups at least.
Most of the PBC fights already have a winner before the bell ring so idk about the so called great match making. Most of the fights made so far have just been show case fights for Haymons preferred fighters.

What are the cards coming up after garcia/peterson and quillin/lee? I honestly don't even know what the rest of their year looks like.
Great matchmaking is Matthysse/Provodnikov
This and great matchmaking is competitive fights, fights were both fighters have a shot at winning, you know unlike Adonis v. Bika. Mathysse v. Provodnikov is great matchmaking because there is guaranteed action and both guys have a shot at winning.

I disagree, the only good matchup so far has been Thurman v. Guerrero, and on the horizon I only see Lee v. Quillin, Garcia v. Peterson has lost its prestige since Garcia's refusal to rematch and beat Herrera.
