Biopics have proven time and again that they are a hot commodity in Hollywood, drawing in both moviegoers curious to learn more about the real-life story and awards attention. Take a look at this year’s Oscar nominations (or any other year, for that matter) and note how many of the recognized films are based on true events.
So the life of Mike Tyson seems like obvious source material for a big-screen adaptation. The boxer’s life has been marked by more than his share of controversies and scandals – and when word arrived that Oscar winner Jamie Foxx is set to star in a film based on Tyson’s life, the film instantly showed promise. Today’s news will instantly lift anticipation for the movie even higher.
New York’s Power 101.5 recently talked with Foxx; the comedian/actor/singer was on the station’s The Breakfast Club morning show to debut his new single, but he also casually dropped some big news on his upcoming Tyson biopic. Here’s what Foxx had to say:
“I just went in with Paramount with Mike Tyson. So I’m going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I’m on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time. And Martin Scorsese at the helm. This will be the first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull.”

Looks like this thing is finally set in motion. This is Scorsese ' first boxing movie since "Raging Bull", this should definitely be good. Thoughts?
A little photoshopping...I gave him cheeks and removed the glasses and look how easily Foxx could pass for Tyson. Imagine what Hollywood could do. He will be great.

Imagine Foxx without the glasses in this pic...with a little hollywood prosthetics Foxx could easily be made into a Tyson look-a-like with some extra cheeks.

Jamie Foxx will do GREAT as Tyson no doubt about it just hope they do it RIGHT!
Still waiting for the damn Roberto Duran Movie that seems to be stuck on the shelf or something
Hands of Stone is out in october.
Jamie Foxx as Mike Tyson, the dude used to wear a dress and is soft, but I'm supposed to believe him as a badass, only in Hollywood. Hasn't there already been enough Tyson movies and bios, I've already seen watched enough and they have most of the same stories and info.
There has only been one movie which was made back in the early 90s. It's time for an update.

Jaime Foxx was great as Ray Charles. He was OK as Stanley "Tookie" Williams; however, I nor the public saw enough of Tookie Williams before the camera to know whether he nailed the character or not. Overall, Foxx is very talented when taking on a character to mimic; so he should do more than a passable impression of Tyson.
Scorcese is one of my favorite film makers so this should be a stylish and absorbing study.
Foxx has been doing convincing Tyson imitations for 20 years...it's already a given fact.

Speaking of Tyson and and Raging Bull, I actually came across this interesting clip of Mike on a talk show with Jake Lamotta back in 1986 before Mike won the title, if only Mike had listened to the advice Jake gave him at 6:18

Wrong video? There's nothing at 6:18
