Gaby Penagaricano, Cotto's attorney, said it was too soon to say if Cotto would face Golovkin since they both have intervening bouts.
"I don't know yet. We need to talk about the June fight and after we will sit down with Tom, who's a dear friend of mine, and see if we can make the fight," Penagaricano said. "But as you know by Miguel***8217;s track record he is not one who ducks opponents."

As long as the money makes sense.
Golovkin is nowhere near the star that Alvarez is, yet Cotto was easily willing to walk away from a ~$11m guarantee over the sense that he was being low-balled on the offer; a $15m guarantee, plus Cotto getting the favorable split on the upside would've likely swayed the man.
If K2 was willing to offer up an 85/15 or 80/20 split, with Golovkin taking the short end, then i see Cotto considering it (15/85 to Golovkin, with Golovkin keeping the Germany TV rights exclusively, seems reasonable).
If K2 pushes for even remote parity, Cotto tells them to go **** themselves.
The only ones who are obligated to do anything are champions. They are supposed to defend their title at least twice a year against worthy challengers in the weight class they are champion of. Canelo is not a champion so he is free to do what ever he wants to do and nobody should complain about it. If he fights at 155 pounds for the next ten years so the fuc what? He is not hurting any other boxer or slowing down any other fighter's career. Cotto is a middleweight champion so by taking over a year off with no injury and not fighting worthy middleweights he is hurting the division and the fighters who deserve a chance to win his title. If Cotto was not a champion he could fight whenever he wanted against whoever he wanted to fight and I would not care. It would be his business. Canelo is not making up his own rules. He is not a champion and there are no rules he has to follow. He fights at a weight limit of 155 against other fighters who agree to fight him at that weight. He is not fighting smaller men. Lara is a huge 154 pounder who might move to 160. Kirkland's last fight had a weight limit of 156 so he is coming down a pound for his fight with Canelo. Angulo went to 160 in his next fight after Canelo so not a single guy Canelo fought at 155 was smaller than he was. Quit your bitcing.
He said he isn't moving to 160 after the Kirkland fight, so it will be 4 fights and still not a MW.
he could be fighting for a title after kirkland and that will be at 154, who knows ... wont even rule out pac or floyd fights on september...
4 fights? as of for now he did 155 for lara and angulo, lets wait and see his weighin vs kirk(must likely 155) , but that will be 3 then...
He said he isn't moving to 160 after the Kirkland fight, so it will be 4 fights and still not a MW.
In Canelo's mind, he's fighting at JMW. He even said that, "I want to continue at JMW" despite fighting at 155.
That's the influence of money in sport for you, it gives fighters a license to bend the rules and do what they want.
those rules dont apply for non-title fights, but i get your point and i agree, fighters need to make weigh all the time...
his team doesnt seem to be pushing canelo to the limit and chepo being his SC coach and nutritionist doesnt help much either...
Not a chance in hell. He turned down 10.5 million to fight Canelo so there isn't enough cash anywhere for him to fight GGG. He will fight somebody he is sure he can beat for his next fight and the fight after that in my opinion. No middleweights for Cotto. I hope he does fight GGG. It is what a good middleweight champion would do.
He'll be at 4 fights in the MW division without fighting a single MW. It's pathetic.

I realize this is about cotto, but wtf is up with canelo? No to 160? You're in the division, how can these guys just make up their own rules and divisions.

Hey Genius, it confirms that at the very least, Cotto is considering the idea of fighting at 160lbs whereas, Canelo is saying "**** 160lbs!!"
The lineal MW champ is "considering" fighting at 160? :haha: do you see how stupid you sound? Nobody can be this dumb right?
WTF does this have to do with canelo? never go full retard. :lol1: Cottostans are out of control right now.

I don't see Cotto fighting Golovkin, you think Roc Nation would want him to do that?
Trouble is, it's hard to see who he will fight because Haymon has 154 pretty much tied up save for K-9 and Andrade.

canelo not moving to 160 next doesnt mean he wont fight GGG, he said if GGG wants it this year it can happen but GGG will have to come down a little...
ill take that line ...
He's not fighting GGG. Stop this madness..
He's going to fight someone like Caleb Truax and then vacate his title and drop down in weight. Which would definitely be the smartest "business" decision for him. Why would Cotto fight GGG when he just turned down 10 million to fight Canelo.
It's simply not smart business. We're talking about a guy who lost to Austin Trout.... at JMW. Austin Trout is god awful. Why the hell would he basically sacrifice his whole career and MILLIONS of dollars to fight GGG?
Not happening! Don't get me wrong- I want it to happen.... But GGG's gonna get that vacant title anyway, so I don't really care :boxing:

Time will tell I guess lol. Even that picture scares me man and I don't have to worry about fighting him.
