According to Eddie Hearn, a fight between Froch and GGG could be possible for late 2015/early 2016. However, this is of course very unlikely as it would depend on Froch first beating Ward (in itself unlikely) in early summer 2015, with that following up to a GGG showdown.

Now, let's say by some miracle this plan could actually be put into action, and Froch would somehow manage to get a win over Ward and GGG, how good would his resume rank?
In my opinion this is all b/s by Hearn, but what are your thoughts on the situation?
Less likely to receive a concussion, in that sense yes. Besides Froch hasn't been much interested in Ward of late, mostly for good reason, until the WBA made their decision the other day. He wanted the relatively easy big pot of gold called Julio Cesar Chavez jr.
That's quite funny because Golovkin wanted the same thing and even signed for the fight against Chavez. And we all know Golovkin wasn't interested in Ward because of "financial sense".
So let's climb down off our high horse, shall we?
Well he has talked a lot about Golovkin as an opponent for Froch for about 2 years, so . . .
Froch and Hearn have both said that Froch might actually retire and you are talking about letting the Froch-Golovkin fight marinade? Really?
Again, where did I say or imply that Froch should face Golovkin for little money? I said he should face him on Sky PPV, that is big money.
No Froch against my mum wouldn't be Sky PPV, your mum is a different story, she has had the experience of people paying to watch her in action.
But he can face anyone on Sky PPV. A fight with James DeGale would do better on Sky PPV than Golovkin.
The idea of a Golovkin fight is that it will be a duel PPV with HBO and Sky. I don't see what is so difficult to understand about that. A fight of that magnitude deserves to be on both PPV platforms and it will be soon enough.
Froch can retire if he wants but if he carries on then Golovkin will be a lucrative option in the next few months. It's not like he needs to fight Golovkin. I can understand why you are impatient because Golovkin needs Froch.
Is Ward easier than Golovkin?
He did want Chavez but that was for an HBO PPV fight in Las Vegas.

Why would Hearn need to use Golovkin's name? Judging by his ratings on Channel 5, no one knows or cares who Golovkin is.
No fighter just fights anyone for the sake of it. The potential for a Froch-Golovkin fight to be PPV on both sides of the Atlantic is there. Why pull the trigger now when Golovkin will be a HBO PPV fighter in a few months time?
Show some fuking awareness.
So what? Froch against your mum is Sky PPV. He's a PPV fighter unlike Golovkin.

Hearn initially used Golovkin's name to continue this facade that Froch is so tough that he will fight anyone, and then as Golovkin has got bigger and bigger he is constantly asked about him as a potential opponent for Froch. Then Hearn is always talking about it as a potential fight for Froch, but always down the line even though it would make good money on Sky PPV.
As for the last sentence, show some ****ing self-awareness.

I never said it was, I said it was Sky Sports PPV. Is that difficult to grasp?

75/25 was the mandated split used for Klitschko vs Povetkin in the same super/regular belt situation.
In the Klit-Povetkin case there were the Russians who were paying the huge purses in order to see their man winning in in Moscow, with Putin in the audience...
... I don't think that the Brits are that dumb... They would go for a 50-50 split, just because its' Froch who's selling the tickets... not Ward...
It is already PPV on Sky. He just wants to fight easier opponents.

Why would Hearn need to use Golovkin's name? Need I remind you that Froch made £9million for his last fight whereas I'm not sure if Golovkin has even broke the million dollar barrier. What a ridiculous notion.
They've always maintained that if the fight was HBO PPV, then they'd fight Golovkin. Fighters don't just fight for "the love of the nerds online".

That claim is fair enough as it seems to be factually accurate. However Froch-Golovkin is PPV on Sky Sports in the UK. The reality is that Froch wants to earn similar or greater money fighting less risky opponents, which is fair enough, but it certainly doesn't cohere with Froch's image as the man who will face anyone.
Froch vs anyone is sky ppv they only care about hbo ppv.
I agree with you no fighter today will truly fight anyone but he has had a lot of tough fights. Pascal, Taylor, Andre Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, Ward, Bute, Mack, Kessler, Groves x2 only Mack is a gimme. So he deserves some credit.
I might be wrong but I think Hearn has been using Golovkin's name for a while to tease the fans. The possibility of Golovkin-Froch always seems to be in 6 to 12 months in the future with Hearn. I hope i'm wrong but I think Hearn is talking out his arsehole.

Froch has always been down to fight Golovkin as long as the money is there for the fight.
Golovkin's stock is growing in America with increasing tv ratings on HBO. It will be a PPV fight soon enough.
It is already PPV on Sky. He just wants to fight easier opponents.

In fairness I think he has been pretty consistent that if it is ppv in the us the fight will happen until then they don't want GGG. But it is hearn so you could be right.

Yeah, I figured.
I think this fight makes more sense then a Ward fight for Froch, and damn sure for 3G..It's time for G to move up,and Froch is a hell of a test to see if he's ready for the big boys at 168lb..
Big boys at 168? Froch is arguably 'the' champ of 168, since Ward is inactive. A fight like you say to be a test would be someone like Abraham. Fighting Froch is essentially fighting the Number 1 or at the very least number 2 in the SMW division.
If Froch beat undefeated Ward and GGG back to back he surpasses Cal and Roy as the greatest SMW of All Time and could very well have the best resume of the entire generation, including Floyd and Manny.
As a fan of boxing primarily, it's actually kind of exciting to think of the possibility of one of the current generation warriors like Froch to really build up a hellacious-looking ATG resume with these two potential wins. I'm not a fan in particular of Froch, or Ward for that matter, but for example for Ward, two wins over Froch as well as Dawson, Kessler, Abraham, and potentially GGG...that's a great resume also. As it stands, Froch probably has the better and deeper resume to Ward, and adding an avenged loss as well as beating GGG would be crazy.
Ward is exteremely jealous of Froch so he will never give Froch the chance to avenge that L, everyone know froch aint scared of **** unlike ward and all these other urban cowards.
Well, as I understand it, it's not a matter of choice anymore. Since it has been mandated, they either decide to fight or one of them gives up the belt. Will be interesting to see what happens, but Ward is sort of in a corner here...he has no one else really to fight and although there are risks and downsides to a Froch fight abroad, it could still potentially be a good payday for him and an easy fight if he shakes off the rust, and could make him relevant again.

Yeah mate Hearn does talk a lot of crap, this isn't the first time he's said something along these lines, but we will see how it goes. I'll keep the faith for now. :boxing:

Where did you get such figures from? Is that the split when a WBA regular champ fights the super champ? Actually I see this going to purse bids...and I fancy Hearn winning it and making the fight in England. Would be interesting what Ward does then.

So it seems Froch is down to potentially fight GGG...after Ward? | BoxingScene Community
