The Nottingham Cobra is daring the man who calls himself Son Of God to nerve himself for a first fight outside the Americas.
‘I fought him in the US,’ Froch says. ‘Now it’s only right that he comes over here. To be a truly great champion you have to box overseas.
‘Ward needs to be forced to travel out of his comfort zone.
‘I dare him. He will discover that I’m a very different animal here than I was that night on the Boardwalk.’
Froch suspects Ward believes he will relinquish the WBA belt, as he did his IBF world championship last month.
But he warns: ‘I vacated the IBF title so as not to delay James DeGale from getting his chance any longer. But I’m not giving up the WBA title. No way.’
Promoter Eddie Hearn, with whom he meets this week to discuss strategy for the negotiations, is provisionally holding the City Ground for May 30. That is the night of the FA Cup final and there would be a sizeable over-carry of TV viewers from Wembley on to pay-per-view with Sky.
But Froch says: ‘That is already short notice for me and if we have to wait for purse bids there won’t be time for proper training camps for either of us. I would hope we can find another date in middle to late June.’
‘I will only get back in the ring for a fight that really floats my boat,’ says Froch.
‘And when you think about it, beating Ward in Nottingham would be a fantastic way to end my career.’
Froch says: ‘The nine months since I knocked out George is the longest I’ve been out but Ward has to be really rusty.
‘Also, a lot went wrong for me in that Super Six final. I was looking forward to appearing in Madison Square Garden but it was moved to Atlantic City .Out on the shore in the cold of mid-winter. Disappointing. The date was pushed back so I had to hang around in America a lot longer than planned. It ended up a week before Christmas and my mind was on getting home to the family instead of the fight.
‘It’ll be very different in the English summer.’

Yeah. Bute was never really that good. A shame for Ward that he was not the one who got to him first. That was a major miscalculation.
We'll never know because Froch battered the life out ofhim and he's finished now.
But that is a clear example of Froch doing Ward's dirty work for him.
Can't argue much with either statement really.
Ward calls the shots. He beat Carl Froch already. Who is froch to dictate terms.
Froch is the champion; Froch has a bigger fan base and more drawing power; Froch actually fights
Exactly, Ward should be thankful he hasnt been stripped of his WBA belt. He is not a true fighter, he is one of the pioneers of the new breed of boxers who are basically princesses who see other fighters making more money so they have tantrums and pout about it. Froch kept going while Ward sat around did nothing. Why on earth wouldnt Ward want to have a huge fight in england, probably would make more money there since thats what he is most interested in (well that and God :o). A win over Froch would put him back in the spotlight, its a good opportunity. Ward dont want the fight though obviously. Maybe he fights Shelby Pudwill rematch instead in good old Oakland. :lol1:
If you really think Ward was scared of losing to Bute and avoided that fight at that time for that reason, then I'll just disagree and leave it at that, as I duck most, if not all "ducking" arguments. I rarely feel like I can see clearly enough what is actually going on to speculate.
As for Ward not having enough power to make Bute give up, I think you're wrong. Imo, once Bute discovered he was outclassed it was over. While I'm not arguing that Ward has hands equally heavy to Froch's, I think Bute's physical unmanning was preceded by his mental capitulation and that Ward was more than capable of the mental domination that would have
enabled the physical pwnage despite having less pop than Carl.
tl,dr: levels exist and once Bute stepped up, he got squashed like a bug. Kessler would have beat him similarly.

Ward doesn't have the kind of power to turn Bute into the quivering mess that Froch did. At the time that was the best fight to make at 168 and one of the biggest in boxing yet Ward didn't want it.

While I'm pretty certain Bute would have taken a similar beating from Ward, Dirrel might have made it interesting. I don't recall Ward fighting anybody as fleet of foot as AD. Still, I'm pretty confident Ward would be able to figure a way to deal with it and for the same reason that I pick him over anybody around his weight; his ability to analyze the action as it happens, anticipate and then frustrate his opponents intent.

I'm not necessarily agreeing with the guy above but I would have liked to have seen Ward fight Dirrell and Bute.

Please list for us those fighters that Froch beat while he was "truly" cleaning out 168 that you really believe would beat Ward.
Please describe in intimate detail the beating that Ward would take at their hands and would that (or those?) beatings have somehow prevented Ward from manhandling Froch?

Like how people forget that Froch was the one that truly cleaned the division and not Ward? But but he beat him doe.

How could he have cleaned the division if he lost to Ward? Yeah that makes sense. He beat Bute doe.
He didn't just beat Bute. You're forgetting a few names.
Ward should beat Froch regardless of location but the real battle is who is the bigger bell-end and in that prestigious conflict they are very evenly matched.
:lol1: :lol1:
Ward is your typical delusional diva. While Froch has been fighting and filling 80,000 seat stadiums Andre has fought 2 times in 4 years but somehow he's the A side and wants to dictate all the terms..
Go back to being retired, nobody even cares if you fight anymore. A waste of great talent but who gives a fk at this point.

Ward was the man. But that was before he fought twice over four years. Inactivity changes that shit. Now he's another fighter, even if he's a very talented one.
He must have suffered some head trauma himself if he thinks he's dictating to Carl Froch at this stage in the game.

Everything he said here is true. Typically a lot of people are going to pretend like they forgot about this.

Looks like Frochy Froch remembered my name all of a sudden. That***39;s good to know. Looks like the old man is still kicking.— Andre S.O.G. Ward (@andreward) March 3, 2015
Froch could have gotten this fight years ago, but it took the WBA mandating the fight for him to step up. SMH. This guy.— Andre S.O.G. Ward (@andreward) March 3, 2015

He might, Ward always seemed keen on the rematch - for the right price.
ward without being home evading PED tests and a ref allowing him to headbutt and clinch 80% of the time froch has very good chance of beating him
If this fight does happen, Froch is not dictating anything. He must have fell a bumped his head.— Andre S.O.G. Ward (@andreward) March 3, 2015
This ****ing ugly ****** wants to be dictating sh1t!!!!!!! ****ing deluded ******!!! **** him!! You know the ***GET wants it in JOKEland so the ****** can grab and cheat!! F*ck that ******!!!!!!
Please forgive the cliche but I couldn't resist; U mad bro?
