I still can't believe a fight this big will be in a small ass arena like MGM
By now the word is out: after years of rumors, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will f!ght each other in Las Vegas on May 2.
What isn't as well known: There was some brief talk the f!ght would take place in Arlington at AT&T Stadium.
According to Sports Illustrated, Top Rank, Pacquiao's promoter, wanted to open up the bidding for the venue to AT&T Stadium, but Mayweather refused to f!ght in Texas, so Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wasn't able to submit an offer.
The f!ght will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Combined, the two boxers have fought 15 of their last 17 f!ghts there.

Is this really an issue or just something else for floyd haters to latch onto.
The fight is finally being made and you still have one side of fans still bitching and moaning beacause It's obvious they didn't want this fight as their hating days are now numbered once Floyd makes easy work off Pac.
So it will be full of movie stars and athletes who don't know squat about the sport..what's the difference? At least some "common" folk would be able to witness the fight in person... They said they may not even release tickets to the public now lol..
Boxing in America will be dead if it carries on this way.
Thankfully the rest of the world knows how to put on shows for the fans and not just make a select few pay through the nose.
You're right it doesn't sense, Floyd's gate against both Maidana fights were 15 million each with an average of 15K in attendance.
PAC's fight with Clottey had 37K with a gate of $6 million and the Margarito fight had 40K in attendance which brought around $5.5 million.
By looking at those numbers, which one would a smart business man go with.
Damn that's all for clottey and margarito fights.
Thank goodness the fight isn't in Dallas. Can you imagine the biggest fight of the decade in an arena full of rednecks 80% of which don't know anything about the sport. Vegas is where it is and should be.

A smart business man would know what supply and demand is.
You clearly don't
pac blew up the place against clottey who? imagine what the record live gate would be if it were opposite floyd? but its floyd after all nothing makes sense.

After they adjust the prices for all of the garbage seats at Cowboys Stadium the gate is likely gonna be in the same ballpark. They can't hike up the prices for no reason. People aren't gonna pay thousands to watch the fight from here

DAMN, this would suck so badly.
Talk about one of the worse seats in the house.
they have a jumbo screen that run the length of the field across the both sides of the staidum. not a bad seat in the house! i went to the cowboys/niners game earlier this year(visiting some familia out there) and we had nosebleeds but the jumboscreen made it seem like we were right there on the 50yrd line
So you're gonna pay $500 to sit and watch the fight live, and end up having to watch it on a screen anyway? Seems like a waste.

They gotta pay Floyd and PAC $250 combine, do you really think they're worried about how many are at the venue, they have 1 thing in mind and that's to have the highest gate ever, this fight in Vegas is bringing in 21-26 million dollars, doubt there's any stadium that can produce that much.
80,00 stadium Average $500 buck a ticket bring in a massive $40 million
Fight is happening who fvcking cares.
Plus that stadium is ****ing awful to watch a fight. Some of the seats at MGM you already need binoculars to see what's going on, so imagine a venue 3x to 4x that size. One of the Seats is literally behind a pillar lmao.

It would have matter where it happened. But a bigger venue mean more average fans can watch and cheaper tickets.
Things that benefit boxing fans. Floyd as we all know doesn't care about the fans.

They have massive 40ft screen to see above the ring.
The atmosphere is electric
If I wanted the TV feed Id just watch at home :dunno:
But again that's just me. I can't imagine going and not being close enough for it to really matter. But yeah people will be hyped.
Cosign. I've went to events with bad seating before and it's a nightmare. In theory 100k in attendance sounds nice, but I bet a lot of those people are gonna be annoyed after it's over. Just 2 dots fighting eons away from you. Factor in people shouting and standing up obstructing your view everytime someone lands a big punch.
