I don't think it was their intention, but they applied the pressure, so yes they deserve credit.
How in the hell did they apply pressure? They was begging Cotto to help them out. Stop being a cornball for these guys on an internet forum, you use to be your own man, now like Larry, you're an appeaser just to seem unbiased. Keep it a 1000.
0 credit. Ultimately the networks and the fighters get all the credit. We all know Pacquiao wanted the fight, Floyd could of just fought Khan and still made that bullcrap guarantee he always gets. Good on the networks for working things out although everything hasn't been set in stone yet.
I think so. Some pressure was applied on their side.
Reclaiming early May was a huge factor for Floyd... he got it back though.
I would tend to agree had Alvarez signed to fight Cotto...
Now that would have forced Floyd's hand for sure.... I don't think Mayweather/Khan would have been able to compete on the same date & do the kind numbers Showtime looks for...
On the other hand, fighting Kirkland basically let Mayweather off the hook...Once that was official Mayweather no longer needed Manny to hold on to his May 2nd date....He coulda signed to fight me & would still outdo a Canelo - Kirkland bout IMO....
I think so. Some pressure was applied on their side.

I wouldn't say that ..... Here's why!
Both Floyd & Manny were running out of quality opponents. And really had no choice but to accept the reality, that the time is now to fight each other. I won't explore the bleak economic climate into this as a factor, because it isn't really necessary. DLH|Canelo were nothing more than a side-show that occurred at the most inopportune time. Their collective power-move just happened to coincide with Floyd & Manny having no real quality opposition\options.
Therefore, no real pressure existed on Floyd, since he could have still fought any opponent and he would have still been at the MGM and fighting on May 2nd. The MGM is in Floyd's corner and it would have taken a monumental GBP financial effort, plus a monster card to take that date from Floyd -- And GBP is pretty much rolling around with a decimated roster at present.
Let's not forget the Cotto element here either. Because without a major dance partner, Canelo wouldn't stand a chance of taking May 2nd. Cotto played hard-ball knowing that all the cards were in his favor and ODLH\Canelo tried to do another power-move with Cotto ... Again, at the most inopportune time and failed. Leaving Canelo with May 2nd against "The Mandingo Warrior" :lol1: Hardly a competitive fight or event, worthy of challenging Floyd vs TBD at the MGM.
So IMHO, if anyone is to be credited for influencing the eventual mega-fight outcome, it would have to be Haymon. He made some really monster moves that pretty much sidelined GBP for the moment. And with Canelo being the only remaining cash-cow, ODLH has no choice but to cater fully to his demands ... i.e. "I want May 2nd"
