If you think he is, or not please state why. I wont insert my opinion one way or the other just want to get a feel how the boxing community feels about Cotto's career thus far. Try your best to not be a Troll about it thanks.
not that any is needed, but cotto isn't better than pacman, mayweather, marquez rigondeaux, golovkin, Hopkins, prime margarito, de la hoya and I could go on.
You lost all credibility when you said prime margarito.

A few of those heroes on that list are suspect as hell when it comes to PEDs. Margarito?? Ahahahahahaha!
Instead of saying he shouldn't be, who is? Provide some substance to back up your bullsh*t.

He's arguing that Hopkins is a fighter of Cotto's era. Era is a period of time. For some reason, when you rate Hopkins in this era, you include all his wins from years' past, even though he started fighting 13 years before Cotto so he's going to have an obvious advantage in regard to how many more opponents he could have fought.
Just like ranking Muhammad Ali in Holmes era essentially. He's arguing that because Hopkins had big fights when Cotto had big fights they are from some era, so since Ali had big fights with Holmes and Berbick then, he's from that era. Then we include all Ali's earlier wins, he's the greatest fighter of Holmes era. See the problem here?
El Blanco, name more that are better than the KING from this era. You said you had plenty more. Shoot.
I meant it as in elaborate and list his best wins and accomplishments that make him that great for you. Same went for people who disagree and think he is overrated, but most people are too caught up on insults to do that.
I must admit this is a lot more contested than I thought it would be voting wise, but not many good arguments for or against have been made with posts throughout the thread.
Cotto's understanding of boxing fundamentals has allowed him to achieve what he has. I think he is a strong contender in any era.
Imagine Cotto paired with Cus D'Amato.
Yes. Cotto is a very good fighter but he is not leagues above of plenty of fighters and wll be beat by quiet a few from 160-147 and will be competeive with even more
An era is a length of time, not how old someone was during a period of time. You an el angel have a very odd way of defining eras lol.
When he started his career is what matters. The age is obviously going to correlate with that, but that's irrelevant.
You're doing the same thing el angel did. You're saying guys under 40 because it excludes Hopkins. He fought right through Miguel's era, he's part of it. Anyway;
Ward
Floyd
PAC
Hopkins
Wlad
Then you should only include his bouts from the period of time Cotto has been fighting "big fights" as you say. Hopkins has a 13 year advantage to fight more opponents to and bolster his resume.
That's like ranking Duran in Hopkins era because they both fought during the same time period. It's when you started your career.
Elaborate...please.

Count Hopkins, why do I care. Ward being up there is possibly the biggest joke I've seen in my life. Winning a tournament is as good as becoming a 4 time division champ? Winning a tournament without a single P4P fighter is the same as beating two P4P fighters in Mosley and Martinez? Good to know.
Wards best wins are home decisions with dirty refs and draining guys down 7 pounds. He should be remembered during the era, but it's for his commentary not his fighting. Also, you define "era" as a period of time yet Andre is up there for only doing anything meaningful in a 2 year period lol.
Under 40 isn't a specific amount of time? When I think of the current era of fighting, I think Manny/Floyd era. Another era would be Oscar/Tito/Mosley/Hopkins in the late 90's early 2000's. The heavyweights like Holyfield/Lewis/Tyson is another era bout the late 80's to mid 90's. Before that it was the Durans/Leonards...
That's how I look at an era, Cotto is one of the best fighters in the Manny/Pac era of fighting. If you want to judge it based on may 3 @ 1:32 AM of 1995 until some other stupid time, fine. Judge it how you want, I could care less.

Anyone under 40. So... yeah, top 3. I'd say 30-40 if you want to be really specific.

GGG is as white as Canelo, he isn't Mexican though. Rubio is growing his white boy skin while shedding all his Mexican, but he is still Mexican as well. Also, why would Cotto fight a former sparring partner? He warmed up on Rubio before tee'ing off on Margarito, dumbasses.
:lol1: You didn't get the joke I guess. GGG talk about his "Mexican style" that's why icha said Jotto ducked 3 Mexicans then said jk 2. Bro you've been on here all day defending cotto, no life?
