Fights in Mexico

We have plenty of fights. I'm going to the Galeno Sandoval fight tomorrow to cheer for my friend who's making her pro debut. Let's see if she shows up in the weigh in pics :boxing: edit: Never mind I saw the thread already they just showed the dudes.

Mexico has plenty of fights. Popular fighters though come to the US because of the $$$. Same way in Europe many fighter go to the UK or Germany to fight. It's where the money is.

Mexicans also have those small rings 18 by 18 imagine Madaina vs Floyd in that ring we cater to runners with 24 by 24 foot rings

There's a Mexican boxing card in Mexico damn near every week, sometimes two at the same schedule :lol1: . Perhaps not the greatest names on the cards but they showcase prospects and are even headlined by Mexican world Champions defending their straps. Seriously, Mexico puts on enough Boxing to fill up both HBO's and Shotime's boxing schedule two times over. They don't really get any attention abroad though, maybe in Mexico/the US but in the rest of the world not much. I also meant BIG shows, when Martinez fought in Argentina it was pretty big every time theres a UFC event abroad it gets a ton of exposure even when they're **** cards. I didn't realise how many cards they had there though, that's great.

There are a ton of cards in Mexico. Many are televised as well. Most of the big name fighters like Alvarez and Chavez Jr. go for the higher paying fights above the border though. That's true but that's mainly because quality opposition in Mexico for those weights is extremely limited, if any at all. Mexican boxing thrives from 130 and below, anything above 140 is not too common. Although it's true, the US is where the money is at. Especially with the PPV's and massive Mexican fanbase that spend dollars instead of pesos just to see their countrymen slug it out.

Why aren't there more fights in Mexico? The Mexicans are amongst the most passionate Boxing fans in the World with a rich history in providing us with great fighters with tons of heart that brought so much entertainment. Imagine Canelo, Marquez, Ortiz etc on a card in Mexico. Look at what the UFC did with their Mexican card originally built around Cain Velasquez who is an American with Mexican roots. The card was successful in every way too. Maybe Canelo with a decent opponent (obviously not Cotto because more money to be made in the U.S in terms of PPV/marketing) and stack the rest of the card with Latin fighters (majority Mexican) vs Americans and so on. Pretty much do what the UFC does in foreign markets, see UFC Fight Nights in China/Japan/Sweden/Mexico. The UFC's card in Ireland a few months ago was probably one of my favourite cards in terms of the fun factor ever since I started watching MMA as a hardcore fan 5 years ago.
