People keep saying #MayPac is gonna be announced during the super bowl, and that's just nuts! Why would they waste 4.5mil for a 30sec commercial too announce the fight when they could just have a big presser that would cost a fraction of that. Seriously people, c'mon!!

Because people are dumb. The "during the Super Bowl" nonsense is urban legend born from social media stupidity.
There's quite a few people here who think that there will be announcement during the super bowl and Dan Rafael thinks you're all dumb.
a commerical turned godaddy into the number hosting site! their power in the superbowl commercial!
Yea cause everyone thought it was p0rn lol. Genius marketing.
It's part and parcel of the whole deal now.
Pretty big deal out here.
There will discussions about the commercials, if Katy Perry is part of the Illuminati, and a whole bunch of other shit that means absolutely nothing pertaining to the game itself.
It's big fat dumb yankdom at it's finest. (Or worst.)
But it will be the most watched single event by far here in the States.
It's a probably a given that a commercial announcing the fight will not happen.
To say that making said announcement during the Super Bowl would be dumb financially?

I can't believe people look forward to this event to watch the commercials.

Hey Fat Dan. During super bowl =! Super bowl commercial.
for reals like mayweather annoucing it on his tweeter wont be brought up one time during the boardcast for free lol.
Lmao you're usual an idiot but that actually made me laugh. Good point. But the nfl are huge hypocrites and money talks
Theres no way they let it happen this year after all the bad press they've gotten
Literally 50% of the people that watch the NFL are women.
The rumor is next year, they are gonna do a zero tolerance policy when it comes to domestic violence. And what Floyd did was worse than what Ray Rice did and hes been blackballed by the NFL and I doubt any team would take a chance on him.
No way they have announce it via commercial during the Super Bowl, however I can see them announcing it with some sort of side line interview with one of the fighters before/after a commercial break or during half time. But that's probably just me being optimistic. lol
He doesn't want it taking away from Carl's Jr.,Mcdonalds and Doritos commercials.
lmfao this right here, fat dan will throw a fit if a food commercial was bumped cause of this annoucement

Hey Fat Dan. During super bowl =! Super bowl commercial.
I never thought they were gonna announce it at the superbowl
A bunch of anti domestic violence commercials are gonna be shown and no way NBC lets a convicted felon with a history of domestic violence buy air time then

But a guy can dream.
I don't know they have a ton of airtime to fill up and they are just getting started in boxing big time, doing those networks a solid at no real expense gives NBC some credibility in the sport and some chips with the long standing players.
I can see NBC wanting to ride those coat tails a bit for their boxing brand even though they have nothing to do with it, but Hyamon is involved with both.
It won't happen. Most years the Super Bowl ad time is all paid up months in advance, sometimes even before the NFL season starts. This year it was much later but it is all bought up. So if this were to happen they would have needed the fight signed well before and needed time to create an ad.
Plus NBC is not going to let a rival network hype up their event on their biggest day of the year. They have the right to refuse an add time buy request as there is no shortage of companies willing to pay up the 4.5 million per 30 second add time. They are not going to let Manny or Floyd on their airwaves during the game at all.
Basic logic. :boxing:
Superbowl ad space is the most competitive (and obviously expensive) air time for advertisers. They book time waaaay in advance of the actual game. No way in hell they'd be able to get air time last minute. Only way this theory makes sense is if the fight was signed, sealed, delivered many weeks/months ago and they somehow managed to keep it and their commercial deal under wraps.
Literally impossible.
