Canelo is criminally overrated. First of, no, I'm not a hater. Canelo never kicked my cat or did anything to make me hate him as a person, he's a young star doing his best. But to see him in the P4P top 10 lists feels so wrong and it annoys me a lot. Look at his last 4 fights:
Loses to Trout, but gets a gift decision.
Gets absolutely dominated by Mayweather.
Beats a journeyman.
Loses to Lara, but gets a gift decision.
Personally, I don't find him impressive at all and I don't understand why so many people does. He got an entertaining style, is young and got room for improvement, sure, but many are making him out to be something he is not. I wish him and every other fighter well in the future, but be fair, even if you're a Mexican or a redhead or a fangirl or got some other reason to root for this guy, he is NOT P4P top 10 material right now...
He really isn't anything special. Concrete feet, average power, can't cut off a ring, decent hand speed.
If it wasn't for his good looks he wouldn't be so popular. Golden Boy sold him to us that he's the next big thing, he's average at best.
all of thiss is true, BUT, at least hes fought people considered a threat and will continue to fight opponents fans want him to.
Man, I'm not getting into the Cotto/Canelo deal again. Canelo, has never not once in his career fought a "ducked" fighter. That was my point and it's fact, not some bs opinion you have of a limited fighter, deuces.
I stated all facts.
you can say they weren't ducked but the fact remains canelo was accused of ducking both trout and lara.
canelo may be limited, but he aint scared.
I just wish cotto would have gave him the chance too show just how limited you say he is.
how is canelo ducking cotto when he has been chasing him for over a year?
Schaefer offered cotto a 10 million dollar guarantee to fight canelo last march and cotto turned it down. that 10 million guarantee would have been the biggest guarantee of his career and he turned it down.
canelo and gbp has said that they have agreed too all of cotto's terms this time and still no fight. even bob arum has came out and sided with team canelo about the cotto negotiations. so for you too say canelo is ducking cotto is crazy.
but my original point was canelo fought trout and lara when nobody thought he would.
and ggg is cotto's mandatory. so why does canelo have too fight ggg instead of cotto fighting his mandatory?
and paul Williams was ducked by the whole 147 pound division. Floyd, pac, mosley, cotto none of them would unify with Williams.

What's your point? You said he fought Trout when nobody else did, someone else did first is all I'm saying. He also fought Lara, after somebody else did Paul Williams. Williams wasn't a ducked fighter that time either, Sergio already put him to sleep and Pwill is a C class fighter anyway. Where did I also say Canelo was ducking anyone in this thread?
The only fight he is ducking is Cotto and that's because he'll only fight him in Canelo's hometown, on Canelo's date. Canelo has never fought a "ducked" fighter. If you or he himself want to market him as that he should fight GGG and shut me up. That won't happen though, so until then he'll stick to his own custom weightclass with people a division below it.

canelo fought trout after trout dominated cotto. you acting like he fought trout coming off a loss.
he fought lara after he dominated paul Williams and got robbed.
hell, canelo was signed too fight paul Williams before he got in the motorcycle accident.
you're right. lara brings no money too the table and canelo still fought him because people said he wouldn't.
which comes back too my original point. canelo aint ducking nobody, and you would be a fool not too respect that.

Go watch him vs Alfonso Gomez, he was outboxed for a few rounds until a bad stoppage. That fight tells you all you need to know about how good this guy is. That being said he's exciting to watch and appears to be willing to fight people so he's good in my book.
he has come along way since that fight 3 and a half years ago.
He fought Trout after Cotto and he fought Lara after Paul Williams and Angulo, what do you mean nobody wanted to fight him? Biggest crock of sh*t in boxing that Lara is avoided, he simply brings no money. He was getting beat by Angulo FFS, he's overrated as well.

I really tried scoring the Trout fight for Canelo, my objective mind just simply wouldn't let me.
Then you're the retard that doesn't know how to score lol :lol1: tell us all which rounds trout won in detail. I'll wait.

Yet Lara couldn't turn him; make him reset within range, that's how concrete feet are supposed to be dealt with.
No, when the consensus is that he beat two opponents who were viewed as stylistic nightmares for him, Lara and Trout, and he still doesn't get the proper respect around here, that only indicates that he's underrated. I mean, some even thought Angulo was a dangerous opponent.
I think there's no doubt that Canelo is a top 10 LMW. I think those who want him to fight GGG right now might be overrating him a little. That, or they just want to see him lose.
I kind of like Canelo...He is very good but not great. He has great belief in himself....even believing that he could out-think and outbox mayweather instead of using his size advantage and try to be a bully. I think he may need a new trainer though. I would love to see canelo-GGG. GGG would win but it would be really entertaining. Canelo, for all of his popularity, really hasn't been in many entertaining bouts yet.

Also heard that he beats up older sparring partners... and that one died and that many mexicans from mexico dont even like canelo at all
how could you not like canelo?
he fought trout when nobody would.
he fought lara when nobody would.
canelo isn't afraid too fight anybody. he's been chasing cotto for over a year and cant get him in the ring and I guarantee you that if canelo and ggg remain undefeated through this year that they will fight in may of 2016 in the biggest fight the sport will have too offer at that time
canelo is connected with Oscar for a reason.
ducking aint in their blood

Now you're trying to underrate him, that makes a lot of sense. :pat:
Alvarez might not be anything special but he's got a good little resume for 24 years old.
Rhodes
Cintron
Trout
Angulo
Lara
Or...
May 2015 - Andrade (WBO JMW title)
Sept 2015 - Cotto (WBC MW title)
At 24, Canelo's in a good place and at least he wants to fight, unlike certain divas holding off on signing contracts.
Age has NOTHING to do with it when you have nearly 50 career fights. He should have been tested 25 fights ago, not 3.
