FYI: Next two reunions being planned as we speak...looking at this summer in NYC and then again at Rival in Las Vegas late in the year (waiting to see what big fight is planned for November or December)...
Johnny Moore, he was my trainer. Black guy that always has on a derby hat and is easily the loudest guy in any gym......... Rockin':boxing:
Oh OK, well, honestly my man, we must have had miscommunication before...I dont recall that guy at all and we definitely didnt spar...the trainers I dealt with are Pop, Keith and Greg Owens.
It's cool, I remember we had spoken before about it. You had said that you remember Johnny from the gym, he was my trainer and I was his only fighter at the time. Nobody forgets Johnny, lol. It's fine either way. Getting a group of fighters together is always a good time. Lots of good fighters on your guest list. Liles, Salmaci and Hoye representin'.
.............. Rockin':boxing:
Johnny? Whats his last name? A coach??
I sparred there with James Toney, Warren Jackson, Tarick Salmaci and Bronco McKart.
I could even tell you the dates and how many rounds. I didnt box with anyone else there.
We sparred at Galaxy in like '94, I think that Tom Johnson had taken over the gym at the time. I know that you didn't write it in your book but Johnny and I both recall it. I remember a rough session, you being a south paw and you telling me that I hit hard as we left the ring. I distinctly recall stepping in to the ring and I asked who this was, he said John Scully. I remembered the name from espn fights. We've met........ Rockin':boxing:
Rockin, believe me...you are wrong....I know u have told me this before but I want u to understand something...I KEEP TRACK OF EVERYTHING....I write everything down EVERY DAY..I write down where I sparred, what gym and who I sparred with...I only trained at Galaxy in 1993...July in Michigan...I went back in January 1994 for only one day but my mother got sick and I had to rush back to Connecticut the same day...you and I have never ever sparred, trust me...
DAMN, awesome stuff Scully!! I'm watching it right now but paused it to comment. Porter right there in the front row looking at you preaching.
Great stuff man, it's awesome to get this type of content from someone on the inside. It's cool to see you interact with them like family.
Says the vile permavirgin star wars nerd who said he hopes fighters die in the ring every time he watches. You're disgusting.
yea, man, thats how it is...its like a family, a fraternity, a brotherhood...lots of respect there...especially when the younger guys, even current champs, see two guys like Mike McCallum and Alex Ramos (they fought each other in the semi's of the 1980 New York City Golden Gloves (thats specifically why I wanted them two there together) interacting and reminiscing with each other...
