CARL FROCH has vowed to retire if he does not land his dream Las Vegas swansong against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Promoter Eddie Hearn is nearing an agreement with Chavez's camp over a March showdown and an announcement could be made soon.
Froch, 37, has fought four times in America during a glittering career that has seen him become a three-time super-middleweight world champion.

Very true. Just seems like an early retirement, for being 37 and starting a career at 25. I think he has some fights left in him but if he no longer has the desire than he should hang them up.
He's been in some wars, prob worn him down
so he wont fight Ward unless its in London, he'll retire if he cant fight chavez jr in Vegas. Why doesnt he fight ward in vegas? or he doesnt trust america, because he believes he was robbed in the ward fight. Ward beat him with one arm.:usa2:
Yeah but what about...
Andre Ward: "If I beat Kovalev, then what?..."
How about moving back down to 168 and fighting the same opponents who are still available to you now lol?
Ward fights all-comers right lol? But when it comes to blood-testing in Europe or Kovalev...then it's "If I beat Kovalev, then what...?"

Ward won't fight in Vegas come on... it was a surprise he fought Froch in Atlantic City.
Early?
He's almost 40 and is clearly thinking about retirement, it's never a good idea to hang around when you want to retire.

Why retire this early? No Chavez I'm retiring... I'm sure how to take this... Maybe he should get Mr.Slappy out of retirement

Froch offered Ward the fight in England and Ward turned it down... Ward fought a nobody for peanuts...
Ward doesn't even have a promoter to negotiate a fight for him... There is no way Froch should wait on Ward... Ward's legacy should have asterisk next to it as well because he never left his country for the fight and didn't subject himself to the European blood-testing protocol that all other Super 8 Tourney fighters had to subject themselves to.
Did you read what I wrote ?
I did, and you made some good points there. I've head about how Ward avoided the PED tests the other Super 6 fighters had to do, and his long time association with a known "steroid doctor". That's one of the reasons I've never been a fan of his.
I also just read about Ward's signing with Roc Nation, so now I'm wondering what Froch's reaction would be if Ward did an about face and decided he would come to the UK for that fight after all?
I doubt it will happen though. Andre likes home advantage and Froch would be able to insist on doping tests for a UK fight.

Froch's resume is stacked... Froch wants the payday obviously... I know you would rather prefer him fight Ward for Peanuts in the U.S... but Chavez in Vegas would be a big money fight even though Chavez Jr. is nothing special talent wise
I don't see this being a big money fight and definitely not a ppv worthy fight.
Froch isn't a big name in the U.S and Chavez Jr lost most of his following by being an inactive lazy pot smoking bum.
What's his fascination with Chavez Jr? He's acting as if Chavez is some sort of superstar here in the states.

Carl it's Ward you should try and pin down, as I've often said history will not be kind to you if you don't.You'll retire as only the second best super middle of your era, I know you deserve better!

IN OTHER WORDS: If I can't get the easy win against the lazy, pothead, I'll retire because I want NO PARTS of Triple G...
Chavez-Froch might not happen because Bob Arum is a control-freak and power-hunger, and I doubt Arum let's this fight happen without Chavez giving him another fight or paying him a huge percentage of the money...
Bob Arum the biggest roadblock to making big fights in boxing strikes again!
