MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao has received what could be a counter-offer from the camp of Floyd Mayweather Jr. for a superbout this year, the Filipino boxing icon's adviser said.
Michael Koncz said Top Rank’s Bob Arum is negotiating on their behalf so that the mega fight will be made.
“I spoke to Manny this morning (Dec. 31). I gave Manny what is perceived to be a counter offer from the Mayweather people,” he said in ******.
Pacquiao’s business adviser didn't say how much the offer is worth.
Koncz said they responded to the counter offer and will wait for Mayweather’s camp to reply. He said negotiations have been ongoing for weeks.
“We discussed it and now I’ve given instructions to Bob to counter their counter. We’ve been going back and forth,” said Koncz.
“There’s been offers and counter offers, and a couple of days ago Bob called me and gave me allegedly where Floyd’s side is, and I discussed that with Manny two hours ago.”
Although Koncz admitted that counter offers are a good sign, he said that nothing remains certain until Mayweather finally signs the fight contract.
“Now I’ve given Bob our response to that. I’m never overly optimistic until the contract is signed, but the good thing is that we’re still going back and forth,” he said.
There have been negotiations between the camps of Pacquiao and Mayweather in the past, but for some reasons, the talks always collapsed.
The first negotiations in 2009 crashed after the American fighter demanded Pacquiao to undergo blood testing up to the weigh-in, which was initially turned down by the Filipino.
In 2012, Mayweather called up the Filipino to offer $40 million for the fight. The American, however, didn't want to give Pacquiao a share of the pay-per-view earnings, which was viewed as unfair by the Filipino sports icon.

this may be sad lol but one of my main reasons for wanting to see this fight happen is because finally all the discussions of who is ducking who will finally die. Seriously everyday the same thread of pac fans calling floyd a duck, floyd fans crapping on arum and pac for being a puppet. It blows my mind that people haven't gotten tired of the same discussion for the past 5 years..........
exactly.................

I don't know. Sounds too convenient. Especially after it was reported that Pac's lawyer was looking into both Arum and Konz to see if they were indeed blocking this fight from taking place.
Apparently according to rumors, they've been negotiating for months. Maybe final negotations with everything on the table, that's why they are countering each other before they both sign on the dotted line?
We can only hope..both have milked all their other options and milked their fans and even their loyal fans have had enough..the time is now!!!

Me too so all this damn talking on this forum can stop and a definitive answer is finally in front of us
Great sign. Contracts need to be sign ASAP.
For a fight this huge it will take time, but atleast it seems they are talking and negotiating..lets see what happens
i think it's a good sign the both teams are in discussion for a mega fight. at least they're talking about a possible fight.
Exactly...lets see where this goes..Manny and Floyd have been silent hopefully that means they are negotiating and moving forward..both seem to want and need the fight now as they have drained all other options and their ppv's are going down fight by fight
