The answer to the question of the thread should be an obvious yes. Right now, Asia's biggest boxing star is Manny Pacquiao, However, I would not be surprised if Inoues following grows and he gets star status too. He is making history with only a few fights under his belt, And I honestly don't think we have seen the best of him yet. That is scary. I think Inoue would maul Shiming.
If Naoya can make the move up to 122lbs in the next 12-18 months and beat the likes of Leo Santa Cruz and Carl Framptom in clinical fashion he will be on his way to stardom in the west.
If he does that he is a certified ATG in my book, that would bet he shortest and fastest destruction of top competition in such a few fights.
But he will not be a star in America unless he can speak Broken English and have a laughable harmless and goofy personality like Manny Pacquiao or Jackie Chan. Americans love those type of Asian personalities.

I agree with this
Can he reach Pacquiao level status... really are you serious, what is wrong with you besides logistics/circumstances there's virtually no chance.
He's already a big thing in Japan.
Inoue looked great at 115 I think he should stay there for the next 3 years or so dominante rack up belts/legacy maybe when he fills out he can go to Bantum but anything above that could be too much.

But will Kosei's power carry up weight classes like Naoya's has? That is the question
I suspect he hits A LOT harder than his record indicates though I have a feeling he chose to get some rounds under his belt. Prove to himself and Mr Hatanaka that he can do 6, 8 and now 10 rounds at a great pace. He hurt Hara as soon as he started to put weight on his shots in round 9 and I think he knew he had already answered the questions about his stamina by then.
We might nee to wait for Hinata Maruta for the next star (though Takuma Inoue and Kenshiro Teraji are both waiting in the wings)
Talent wise I don't see a lot separating them, Naoya is the bigger name...for now. Amazingly Kosei is about an inch taller O_o
But the point is Naoya is ALREADY a star Tanaka is THE NEXT one

Naoya is better than Kosei

Inoue isn't the "next" star, he's one of the current stars. The next one is Kosei Tanaka (who will burst on to the scene in April), Takuma Inoue, Ryo Matsumoto and Shohei Omori will follow.
RE-Rigondeaux it's expected he'll fight Wake in Japan later this year

I honestly haven't seen him before this post but shiet that boy is a heavy hitter..
I would like to see him more and I hope he gets promoted well and fights in America..
They have a great champion at 118 that might be moving up to 122 in Shinsuke Yamanaka. If Yamanaka could bring his power up to SBW I could see him troubling Rigo. Both Southpaws and extremely talented I would love to see that go down. If Shinsuke could land his devastating left hand, it could easily be lights out for Rigo.
Tomoki Kameda is another awesome fighter but I don't think he is headed down that road. He wants to become a star in American soil and fighting Rigo might spoil those plans.
:lol1: at that final boss segment. Are you guys serious? A newly crowned Super Fly Champion being rushed to 122 to face arguably the best pure boxer of this era? Get it together guys...
Beating Roman Gonzalez is one thing. Beating Rigondeaux, you have to really move mountains to do that
If Japan keeps bringing Rigo back I'm sure they'll have him as a sort of "final boss" to their fighters. Not sure if Japan has any 122 fighters to face Rigo tho.
They do have Tomoki Kameda at 118 tho.. that could be huge.

Like a Final Fantasy game :lol1:
He definitely will be the next big Japanese star.
Whether he'll ever cross over and become a world mega star like Pacquiao is very doubtful. The fact Japanese fighters make good money in their home country makes it hard to ever see them come to the US to fight.
Without a doubt. How it stands the test of time is another matter, but in the short-term at least it would be a giant win for whoever got it.

why did inoue skip flyweight? he skipped one of the best division to fight at one of the weakest.
narvaez sucks is 4 feet tall and is an old 40 year old which is completely ancient at the lower weight classes.
i'm not sold on inoue. i think he is all hype. gonzalez and estrada both KO him easy.
He's probably just growing too fast. Shane Mosley had so much trouble making 135 that he didn't want to bother stopping at 140.
if he fights in america and climbs up to a higher weight class he might be.
but he will never attain manny pacquiao greatness. no other asian will ever attain manny pacquiao greatness. nonito quackhypenaire tried to but he was proven a joke fighter.
He's definitely the next big Japanese boxer. I don't know about best Asian boxer. Uchiyama is a huge superstar in Japan, and apart from the core of hardcore fans here on NSB you'll be hard press to find people who know who he is.
The weight doesnt do him any favours neither...
