His whole career Canelo has looked suspect against fighters of color, gift vs Tyner, Flat out quit vs Mayweather and 2 arguable l's to Trout and Lara.......Canelo has to prove otherwise to me, but his career tape proves he's average, he gets dented at 154 by the up and coming black fighters that roam; he'll hide in between 154 and 160 to avoid challenges though
Trout and Lara lost so get over it he was weight drained vs Floyd
Who can sit in the pocket and bang with Canelo from 154-160, OUTSIDE of GGG?
My answer is NO ONE? What's your answer?
Just drain him to 152 and a sh1t load of guys will beat him

The Tyner fight happened when he was 19. Tyner also had the experience of fighting the likes of Lamont Peterson.
Mayweather is Special. Canelo should've came to fight, but he wasn't ready. I'm actually impressed he had enough confidence in himself to fight a technically sound fighter like Lara, after the Mayweather lackluster performance.
Lara changed his whole game plan after a massive body shot in what I think was the 4th or 5th round. I like Lara, but he didn't do enough to take that fight.
I see Canelo as a special fighter. He has correctable weaknesses I hope his team can pick up on. I've made the suggestion it might be time for Canelo to look into a new corner. The Reynoso's are a knowledgeable boxing family, but I worry if Canelo is "listening" to them. Canelo camp stories are horrendous at times. Nevertheless when I see Canelo, my eyes show me a calm intensifying fighter with a good combination of power, strength, intelligence, & ring generalship...
I like Jermell Charlo, but I feel he will get clipped & sparked by Canelo. No disrepect to your opinion though

I think GGG, Lara beat him Floyd already beat him. I think Demetrius Andrade beats him also. Few boxers can stand and trade with Canelo but Canelo is low volume enough that he can be outboxed.
No mention of Kirkland? He can punch, throws in volume, goes to the head and body has a fantastic gas tank.
On the downside he is easy to hit and tends to get rocked or buckled early but seems to get used to using his face as a punching bag as the fight progresses then becomes indestructible where punches don't seem to faze him.
True that. Kirkland has the POTENTIAL to take Canelo into deep waters. Forgot all about ole' boy.
So, so far notable answers. .or answers worth a flying F1CK are:
GGG, Lemeuiex, Pacquiao, Kirkland, and Williams. And of course, May weather by default since he's such a "banger" and really "took it to" Canelo in the "pocket" as the title suggests.
The rest of the answers are appreciated however have been laughed off immediately.
mayweather, pacquiao, cotto....you really like making canelo threads today don t u ?
This is the only Canelo thread I made all day and possibly in last 2 MONTHS. Too much stout last night? Too much pub'n? Too much cocaine? Weed? What did you do too much of last night to make such a blunder?
That my thought exactly, its weird some fighters are like that Froch, Marquez where they are prone to getting stunned earlier in fight but the longer it goes the better they take shots. Its like they are cold coming in and need to build a resistance mid fight to getting hit.
seems like punch resistance in general is heavily dependent on expecting the punches. i guess those guys come into the fight planning not to get hit but reconcile themselves to the idea as the rounds progress

Lemieux. He throws very hard single shots and is a strong guy. I would expect Canelo to decisioCanelo has decent power but i don't think he hits hard enough to blast Lemieux out.

Thank You Sir!!! JRock is the Truth!!! I don't want to talk about him too much on Canelo page, but definitely pay attention. He's also mature, & has the same focus & dedication of BHOP. I'm not exaggerating either. He wakes up 5AM, no drinking or smoking, just live the sport of boxing. I hope the fame doesn't distract him because I have no doubt its coming Soon!!!
No doubt. I like his style. He's fan friendly. That's always a plus.
Good stuff, I don't know much about J. Rock but he certainly does look like a strong prospect. And someone who WOULD sit in the pocket with Canelo. Sort of like El Perro did, although that didn't work out to well for him..
Green K for not coming with the same tired answers.

Julian JRock Williams. I don't want to be biased. If/when this fight gets made I'm matching bets.
At 160 I'd take GGG, but its a lot closer than I think most people give him credit for.
Canelo had a **** camp vs Lara. Im favoring him now if he fights Cotto, but he must have a more focused camp. This long layoff is a disadvantage as well, especially if they fight in September as it was reported. Canelo is a very Good fighter. I was impressed he was able to pull out the victory over a technically sound Lara after all the stories from his camp. I Love Canelo's "line em up "attitude as well. I've been thinking maybe a corner change would pay dividends for his career. No disrespect to his trainer, he's very knowledgeable, but I worry if he has Canelo's complete respect.
Salute Canelo!!! A true people's Champion

Not true, Mayweather took it to Canelo, he was up in his shyt and had the ring cut off on him before the first bell even rung.....he beat him into the fetal position, I no longer take him as a elite level fighter, Cotto dismantles him, plus guys like the Charlo's Canelo wants no part of.................
