CBS lost millions of money from Floyd fights. He's a LIABILITY.
In 2014 CBS/Showtime did two Mayweather Pay-Per-View fights, which sources say did less than 900,000 buys each. With the break-even being about 1.2 million buys per fight, figure CBS lost a total of $10 million to $12 million on both rumbles.
He is now in the negative side lol
It's bad enough to break even in business, but to lose millions. That must hurt bad.

This is what, the 31st thread about the retired Floyd Mayweather on this message board in the last week. Just like all the others, neither the thread started nor the person who wrote the linked article know a damn thing about how PPV events work or anything about Floyd's contract with Showtime. Therefore, no one has a clue about how much money may be made off a Floyd fight.
Floyd truely always needed other fighters fan bases and
Big names (most were has beens and washed up)
To get good ppv numbers.
He never once beat a prime hall of famer.
A very overated fighter.

But don't you think the profit from the canelo fight eas enough to offset these loses?
Mayweather brought in more money, yes, but Showtime invested a lot into both Mayweather fights (especially promotional costs, and stacking the cards), so obviously the fight would generate more revenue than Pac-Algieri would. However, given that he fought a Latin fighter on a Mexican holiday with all the promotion they had for the fight as well as a much stronger undercard, it was performed poorly from a business perspective judging by the revenue it generated in comparision to the losses Showtime made.
The Pacquiao-Algieri fight seems underwhelming at first glance, but if you consider that the fight was in China, the fact that Algieri was virtually unknown to many and that investment in proportion to the Mayweather-Maidana fight(s) were significantly less, it isn't bad as some imply. Not to say it was a great success, but taking all these factors into account, it performed better than the Mayweather fights given the circumstances.

You guys just don't get it. All those reasons you came up with as to why Pac-Algieri did <300k ppv buys are irrelevant. They have no merit in negotiations. What matters are hard facts, the numbers. Floyd did ~4 million ppv buys in his last 3 fights while Pacquiao did <1.5m for his last 3.
His fights were in China you say? Don't fight in China. He was fighting less known fighters you say? Fight better fighters. Showtime losing money doe you say? Irrelevant.
HBO went How Many Weeks without showing any boxing on its network? But yet it is actually HILARIOUS how some are just focused on what Showtime is doing but completely IGNORING what HBO is NOT DOING!
The Investment was made to finally be able to "COMPETE WITH HBO" so technically Showtime is getting their Money's Worth because not only are they almost matching HBO In Ratings despite having far less subscribers overall, but they're also completely outselling HBO in PPV Buys for Boxing Events
HBO can't even fill boxing Dates so they had to shot everything down for what 2 months? Or however long that was. I don't remember HBO ever going without boxing for that long.

End thread
Dude, do you work for Viacom or something, because that is who really owns CBS, Showtime and many others. So, how can you make these statements?
Name one other personality in boxing that is putting up PPV numbers consistently equal to Floyd. I'll wait while you get lost :sucks:
And here's a parting gift, for you pathetic parrots that don't know what the fuck you're talking about .....

Mayweather brought in more money. How that money is distributed on Mayweathers side doesn't mean anything to Pacquiao negotiations.

OP has a good point
Its clear that Floyd is the one whos desperate. And add in all the lawsuits thats Floyd's facing and he would be lucky to get 50/50.
Add in the fact that Canelo is demanding Cinco De Mayo
50/50 split and Reyes gloves or no fight.
Only in Packland this thread wouldn't be looked as a joke.
Pillow gloves anyone?
How about vampire facial?
Vegetables for good health?
Xylocain?
How about Floyd beating his wife Part 2? That might be a superfight in the works??
Pick your poison Floyd lovers :))

Oh ***** lost millions.
No profit for CBS, no opponent that will make CBS profit aside from Pac. People seeing floyd boxed into a corner and has no choice but to agree to this super fight.
But you know what?
The coward will always find a way to duck. Believe it haha!
Nothing like a thread full of basement dwellers talking business like they know what they are talking about...
Lmao. "Negative profit"..... Manny PPv is nothing but "positive losses"
