Good performance tonight from the lad but i think people need to look a little deeper into his recent record and you might see a few interesting things.
1. Kell Brook just said that Khan has always been good against Southpaws even in the amateurs. That might explain why four out of his eight fights since he faced Chino have been against lefties.
2. Since he faced Maidana (which he hung on for dear life towards the end) he's fought four orthodox fighters, in that run he got knocked out by Garcia, outworked by Peterson and also dropped by Diaz.
3. So in essence FOUR out of the last five orthodox fighters he's faced (Madiana, Garcia, Peterson and Diaz) have given him problems.
4. Those fights showed us TWO glaring weaknesses in Amir's game...the first being he's wide open to left-hooks from the orthodox stance (Prescott was the first to exploit that and then Garcia) and secondly he CANNOT fight inside which Peterson and Maidana demonstrated.
Since his brutal defeat to Garcia he hasn't shown us that he has addressed those two deficiencies in his game...he's faced two orthodox fighters since then and Diaz had him on the floor and caused him all sorts of problems.
His speed and combo's are to be admired but I'm still not convinced he has an inside game and those guys at the top level will exploit that...the way Peterson bullied him on the ropes round after round with Amir having no clue how to get out of it was incredible.
Lastly just look at the Garcia ko HERE .The same left-right combinations he was throwing tonight is what leaves him open to a left-hook against orthodox fighters...the amount of left-hooks he takes there is just amazing...the kid couldn't adapt.
Maybe Hunter has ironed them out? who knows....but he hasn't faced anyone recently who brings those skills to the table.
Yeah exactly.
His big WW statement fight was Collazo and Alexander? :lol1:
How could Mayweather and the fans not demand that fight now. Wow.
Ridiculous, fight a relevant top legit WW Khan.
My only praise for him tonight is he resisted excessive clinching, kept distance and let his hands go. Then again Alexander isnt exactly a power puncher & had shorter arms. Probably explains it.
^^^^^^
This basically.
The 'new' Khan makes the WW division interesting.
But he is still just another B class fighter.
Putting Khan in against Alexander and Collazo and he will look good.
Put him in with somebody like Brook - he will be tested.
Put him in with Floyd, Manny - he will lose.

This is all 100% right. This is a nice streak Khan is on and it is also good matchmaking.
Khan got Garcia, Prescott and Peterson problems my friend!!...why hasn't he avenged those beatings? :bottle:
He was due to rematch peterson straight up until they found synthetic testosterone in him...
He wanted Garcia too, but daddy Garcia refused...
Prescott I agree, Khan should have rematched.
As for the other statement, Khan she's do well vs southpaw. However he's also changed how he fights, and more importantly train. At welterweight he says he doesn't have to cut too much which helps concentrate on boxing. He said he doesn't get hurt in sparring at a natural weight (dropped)
And he also listened to Hunter won told him to bid just do a 12 week camp, but actually stay in the gym bbetweenfights to master his craft. He seems to be learning each time.
Vs Danny he went attack mode and stupidly for tko.
Even vs Prescott he tried to bang after getting dropped.
He seems to be better now
Just because its true doesn't mean you didn't split atoms to get there. You know what else is true pi.
My point is, you're reaching to discredit the fact that Khan whooped Alexander's ass. No matter what the **** you said in your OP.
You don't have to be "fooled" by Khan. You can take him for what he is. And that's a bad ass boxer who's punch resistance isn't all that great.
That's who he is, that's who he was, and thats who he ALWwAYS will be. Take it or leave it atleast be comes to fight!
He's improved. Last fight everyone cried how Virgil ruined khan. Floyd still beats him easily
well ya there was for sure some rust at the beginning but virgil and roach are so different that was expected honestly leaving roach was best thing khan ever did after watching him tonight. ya alexander is kind of taylor for khan but thats not khans problem and besides he beats almost anyone at 147 tonight
Khan is what he is.
A good fighter, ridiculous speed and athletically with a a lot of holes in his game
If you can punch and you hit him on the chin he will go over.
If you're a boxer and aren't a hard puncher he's going to be a tough fight.
That's why I think he troubles Mayweather.
I am fooled by him. I thought he fought the best fight of his life and he is a real threat to any welterweight alive including Floyd and Pac. I didn't think that yesterday but seeing is believing for me.
He could have gotten KO'ed against Collazo, but he didn't, he dominated. It was a dangerous fight because of what Collazo did to Ortiz, and because he is upset minded as seen vs Hatton and Berto as well. Khan could have let Alexander spoil the fight, but he dominated him. That's what I look at, what could have happened, but Amir Khan didn't let it happen. Also, yeah he struggled against Maidana, who doesn't? Mayweather, Broner, Ortiz all had a tough time with Maidana as well, I don't knock Khan for that. Broner and Ortiz had more than just a tough time with Maidana. Mayweather fought him 24 rounds. Khan also beat Kotelnyk and Malignaggi two pretty good orthodox fighters. I also had Khan edging Peterson.
With that said, I do not want to see Mayweather vs Khan next. I prefer Khan build up a solid WW resume first. Guerrero next could be a nice fight and a much better addition to his resume than just Alexander. He'd also have a much stronger backing of fans for him to fight Floyd.
im sure that will be the new narrative if floyd and manny fight
Fortunately for all us Void fans, we can always count on you for your undying and unrelenting support.
LOLOL that was one of the best perfmorances of the year, Khan making a world class boxer look slow, and out of place from combinations almost every single round!!
Devon Alexander is world class? :pat:
Devon that got two laughable gifts against Kotelnik and Matthysse? Same guy that Bradley made quit (agghhh it burns!)? Same guy that the mindless bull rusher Porter whooped on?
Khan doesn't deserve a shot against Mayweather. But his left over Maidana does. Hype jobs like Ortiz and Guerrero do after beating a ****ty Berto. Yeah OK.
You know Floyd fanboys fear Khan when they start dedicating threads to why Khan should fight such and such instead of their idol
Floyd will duck Khan, no doubt.
#AK47-1
How the hell is it "trolling"? what have i said in the OP that isn't true?
FOUR OF THE LAST FIVE ORTHODOX FIGHTERS HE'S FACED HAVE GIVEN HIM PROBLEMS.
1. Garcia he got ko'd
2. Peterson he got beaten on the inside
3. Diaz knocked him down and kept catching him with clean shots
4. Maidana almost killed him in those last rounds
Those are the facts buddy!!..until he proves he can handle the left-hook and at least develop a clinch game i won't be convinced he can live at the very top of the game.
1. Garcia got him, fair enough.
2. Peterson didn't beat him PEDerson did. Had it not been for his drugs he would have been out of there in 2, like Khan almost did against a roided up version.
3. Diaz got him with flash knock downs, he got up fine after them.
4. Khan basically dominated Maidana that whole fight, it wasn't until those last few rounds where he got. Khan had him in trouble in the very first round by sending him down with a body shot.

Good theory - but Khan bt Maidana. A tough few rounds at the end does not undo the first 2/3 of the fight which Khan dominated. :boxing:
see this is what i hate i dont like khan but when a fighter looks good whether u like him or not just admit dont say its boring or he only won cause a certain style bla bla bla i honestly dont like khan at all but did he ever impress me im tired u fan boys not giving a fighter his due when its deserved
Garcia, Peterson etc is ancient history.
khan moves better, defends better and makes a lot less mistakes than back then. He's far from perfect but has improved a lot since those fights.
As for a Floyd fight he's going to get countered and look silly at times but unless he gets hurt doing it so what ? He's still going be able to get those flashy combos off and even if they mostly miss they are eye catching for judges.
Floyd's not going to force the pace so it will come to Floyd's clean counter pot shots against Khans flashy combos. Unless Floyd can hurt Khan ?I can see it being a close decision.
