Honestly, it is boxing **** happens. This looked like a ****ty year going in but still some things happened so it was not a total bust~ I would say be patient and boxing will reward you

I'am loosing interest in boxing, it's gotten to a point where it's just too boring and predictable. Fighters are not willing to fight each other since it doesn't make business sense, "why take risk against a dangerous opponent when you can fight 10 bums". Fighters are being brough up extremely slow, only to find out that 10 years later, he wasn't that good to begin with. And promoters letting fights marinate for years, and usually never get made. What bothers me the most is that boxing fans are trying to think like a promoter and agree with them, saying "that makes sense, why fight tougher challanges where he might loose". When it's not their Job to think like a promotor, a fan should act like they're suppose to, act like a boxing fan, a fan of a competitive professional sport. If You dont act like a boxing fan, then who will ?, promoters will feed you bs, wasting your money, and something far more important...time. They're not wasting my time anymore. I'm only watching the most competitive fights. Even if that means watching one event a year, or none at all. In the meantime, promoters can take their sweet time letting fights "Marinate for years", fighting bum after bum, but that will be without me, i'll tune in once the fight i want to see is made, in the mean time i will be saving my time and money elsewhere... .....Just a tired boxing fan. Given that ratings and PPV buys are on a steady decline, you're not the only one. I've definitely lost interest in the sport. I used to tune in to every match possible, but now I only care to watch the more notable ones. Sadly i'm on da same boat

Things are bad right now. Showtime's ramping up of their boxing budget has been a disaster for the sport, not a boost. Haymon and Arum have essentially dodged the problem of having to compete with one another for network slots, and in the absence of pressure to offer the networks good match-ups, have been content to spoon-feed warm diarrhoea to a boxing public starved of real competition. The networks tightening the purse strings is the best thing that could happen the sport right now. Arum and Haymon need to be forced into upping their game, otherwise 2014 could become the norm.

I'm stuck with Boxing. Other sports don't get me as interested.

I agree with the OP. There has been a shift in boxing the last 10 years of so. A boxer's star appeal is becoming the biggest factor these days. I remember when Ortiz was fighting Maidana and Lampley was talking about how people had Ortiz pegged as the new golden boy because he has the Mexican heritage, is good looking, and has a great back story. None of that has to do with boxing, all has to do with generating fans. Don't get me wrong, the idea has always been to generate fans and make money. But its done so artificially now. Before you had to be a great fighter, now its more like a reality show and promoters are looking for crossover appeal. They rarely let the fighters take chances because too much money is invested in them. With guys like Haymon involved its all about showcasing one person.

u picked a hell of a time to compare boxing to the wwe when the ufc just signed a wwe wrestler with no experience. foh Haha. Also the UFC is cheesey as ****. Joe Rogan is a car salesman trying to sell you how good a fighter is even when they are ****. He recently said someone isn't good enough which is great because the way he hypes a fighter is tedious. I wanted to like the UFC but there is too much wrestling, inactive moments and ****ty decisions.

I am tired of it, but it's been like that since time began. Boxing has always been dirty and even in the past it took time to make certain fights. As much as it isn't so great match up wise, I can't follow any other sports. Boxing is what I love.

i agree. boxing is a joke sport for entertainment purpose and isn't really meant to be taken seriously anymore. boxing is basically a less campy version of WWE. if people want to watch serious and REAL combat sports then they should watch UFC, MMA, MPL, etc. u picked a hell of a time to compare boxing to the wwe when the ufc just signed a wwe wrestler with no experience. foh

I still love watching it and find plenty of competitive fights, especially in the lower weights. The problem is the stars of the sport are in uncompetitive matches. This isn't 40 years ago when guys fought often, these guys fight 2,3 times a year and quite a few of them are facing guys they were fighting earlier in their career when they were on the come up. It's a turn off and a waste of time. I doubt many of us would watch an nfl game if we're 99 % certain on who would win. Hell the raiders just beat the niners, that would never happen in boxing. It's too predictable.

This is why I canceled Showtime. The Haymon fighters never lose, and are always the favorite, its pointless.
