We are reaching and grasping at straws here with this GGG vs Margarito comparison. Look at Margarito's record he has never, let me say that again NEVER beaten a in prime top level fighter at 154, so why are we even bothering about GGG or 160? If a old Sugar Shane Mosley with no stamina could barely get hit and then land the kitchen sink on Margarito at 147 then what is GGG going to do at 160? And look at his face vs Manny he looked like he was Chinese and no one would have complained if that was stopped, even Manny was begging for the ref to stop it.
If he was just mediocre, he wouldn't of been champion for several years. Sure he lost it to Sergei but Sergei wasn't bad himself either. Santos became a champion again when he went to Canada and knocked that one black dude out. Tell me, would someone mediocre do something like that, like being a two time world champion? Was Santos elite? No, but he was decent.
You can watch any fight and analyze the mistakes any boxer makes. Like I said, seeing Margarito develop, it was easier to see his mistakes and improvements. Something that you clearly lack. Oh and I have seen a lot of Santos' fights too, to make that judgment.
I'm not talking about Margarito vs Golovkin. It's a totally unfair poll.
Well I agree on that last part it is totally unfair to Margarito, that is not even debatable.
Santos was a champ for many years but how many fights, he was so inactive, he would win a title and not fight for 18 to 24 months. Which did cost him in the end against Foreman but he wasn't even that good before that. Now compared to an average fighter Santos is someone, and I am not saying he is a bad fighter he is good anyone who makes it to that level is obviously good at the sport. Still he was not awe inspiring either. So that fight is not a total black mark against Margarito but Santos is a run of the mill champ at a weak division, so losing a close fight isn't that bad especially since Margarito was coming on but I don't think that fight said he was going to do big things above 154 at any time. Sure he could beat some fringe guys maybe even a low end champ but no one that I would consider a "real" champion (like Golovkin is a real champion, Quillin is not for example)
I don't think you haven't watched their fights I never said that, I just find it odd that you are that high on Santos. I still stand by what I said though Margarito wasn't anything at 154 and didn't prove much of anything in that class. Sitting here debating Daniel Santos is fun because we both know who he actually is but I still have to say in the grand scheme of thing Santos is meh but you don't have to agree.
read below, so you can see how I told the other clown aswell
End of discussion. Dead Issue to me, you can rant on if you like though.
Clown? I was not the one totally wrong, then name calling because you can't handle getting called on your mistake and you have no real defense because that is a mistake no real fan of the sport makes.
Sorry that you don't like your card being pulled like that, but don't make stupid mistakes while acting like you know something and that won't happen.
When you do something illegal in the sport, what is it called? Ty
If it was illegal why wasn't he suspended? Again, lets talk about this marg "prime" run that he had.
Daniel Santos is mediocre at the championship level, he isn't a total clown and he didn't blown Margarito out but that fight showed a lot of limitations for Margarito. Since he never went back to 154 until the end there were reasons for that. That is why this specific question in relation to Margarito is a joke. In a fight against Golovkin that would be at above 154 this kind of stuff matters. Some people obviously have no clue about what Margarito did thinking he knocked out Rosado faster than Golovkin, so something needed to get said for those that could be influenced by such talk that is in no way connected with what reality was.
If I wanted to be real mean to Margarito in this thread I could because Glolovkin would take advantage of so many things, but I also don't need to do it because it is an obvious question (even a die hard Margarito fan like yourself knows the answer, hence why we are talking about how I view Margarito at 154 not that). I don't really like using those last Margarito fights at 154 that is clearly a non vintage version, but it is not like he changed any views of mine either in regard to his capabilities higher up.

What do you mean busted? Was Trinidad suspended for what he did? Was what they did legal in other states? Two completely different things here. I would tell you nice try, but it really wasn't. Why can't you respond to my marg and his "prime" run comments instead of your Trinidad crap?
When you do something illegal in the sport, what is it called? Ty
oh well..... you got me. We all cant be flomos who has his boxrec tatted on their forearm.
Maybe you should spend some more time on boxrec and such mistakes wouldn't happen. Or you know actually watch the fights, Angulo, Rosado, Margarito are are highly televised guy if you care to look.
It is always a shame when someone has to mock knowledge.
Funny considering you have Trinidad on your AV. How bout we mention the fights Trinidad had in NY prior to getting busted? Thought so.
Margs beat Cotto cause Cotto wanted to be exciting and made mistakes.

So now you don't think "highly" of Santos. He was a champion at the weight on top of having a big weight advantage on fight night. Maybe you have that mentality cause Foreman beat him(he was inactive also).
Cotto 153 and also coming off a beating, on top of that, Cotto corrected many mistakes.

I don't think that highly of Daniel Santos and have watched that fight both of them.
Margarito did exactly what at 154 except look suspect against Santos? At 147 he looked suspect at times also if you really want to get into it.

Daniel Santos he lost to at 154
Manny he lost to at 150 which is junior middle
Cotto he lost to at 154
He beat that dude at 154 pre Manny
Off the top of my head that is 4, 2 I wouldn't include because that was late Margarito but none of those fights proved he was any kind of big dog at 154. If a welter can not make it at 154 and Margarito did not then they will not have success at 160.
Cotto 153 and also coming off a beating, on top of that, Cotto corrected many mistakes.
Margarito never looked good at 154. Did you ever watch his fights with Daniel Santos? Name one significant win for Margarito at 154. I'll wait.
With that said, Golovkin would beat the hell out of Margarito within 5 rounds.
Yes I have plenty of times, which is why I know you bull****ting on your comment on never looking good. That is the problem with many boxer fans on here. You see a fight or two and they make a judgement. I've watched Margarito develop from when he didn't have many fights and watched him develop. He put it on Santos. He deserved a win or at least a draw. I've seen much worse cuts that didn't get stopped.
What is a prime Marg? He he ever had a prime? He beat Cotto with wraps and then got ko'd by an old ass Mosely. Again, what era was marg prime and what run of fighters did he beat that are worth mentioning that made marg prime?
Funny considering you have Trinidad on your AV. How bout we mention the fights Trinidad had in NY prior to getting busted? Thought so.

Lets see. An A to A+ level Middleweight against a B+ level Welterweight.
It is kind of easy. Margarito had a monster level of toughness, but even with that, there are levels to this game, and weight classes. Antonio fought going forward, and he would not be able to against GGG. It would be very one sided, due to styles, size and skill level.
chop it up how you like playa aint that serious to me, I could have easily edited if I cared.
You could have, but it would stay the same in my post so that really changes little. You are really in a ****ty spot, I can't fault you for trying to play it off but any real Margarito fan ain't making that mistake faker~
The Margarito that beat Cotto would go 12 rounds. He'd punish ggg.
Any version of Cotto loses to ggg in 2.
ggg is a middleweight. rito would get the dog **** beat out of him. there's a reason he campaigned at ww.
