Everyone loves Ricky, he was a great personality but obviously his career got ruined by addiction and maybe by not quite being elite....
But truth be told, he was the Undisputed champion of his his division and that's a rare feat in modern boxing.
How good was he? Most people just think of the Pacquiao KO these days but beyond that....
Opinions?
If I remember back far enough (not that far actually) I was really hoping Ricky would beat Floyd, and remember shouting at the screen 'cus I thought Cortez wasn't allow them to fight on the inside.
Hatton is a legend, and one of the best 140 fighters that have ever lived.

I think Hatton was one of those fighters that was overrated by his fan base yet underrated by everyone else. Great body work, great foot work, decent hand speed, and pretty good power. Great motor and a very entertaining fighter to watch
Says the person in RED, who DKSAB... you want a crash course id be willing to teach you about boxing?? Are you interested?

I really didn't rate Hatton. He's adored in the UK, but, ultimately, he was face-first brawler. He never stood a chance against Mayweather; especially at 147.
it is you who don't know crap about boxing PERIOD if you think he was a great fighter what more can I say go watch some WWE that is up your area :pat:

He was a beast at 140, ridiculously srong for his size, and elite level footwork, and good hand speed. Despite being big at the weight he also had t-rex arms which meant he had to fight the way he did becuase his short arms wouldn't alow him to fight on the outside and that became more evident when he started to fight the bigger guys whom could match him for strength on the inside.
His biggest flaw though was his lifestyle, he could've prolonged his career significantly, but then again it's what made people love him too.
Only lost to the two best fighters of this era despite being a limited fighter in terms of skill.
Not an ATG by all means but he's not exactly an "over hyped bum" like many people see him after those losses.

Man, at his best, physically and psychologically ready, he was a beast of a little fighter. How was he not elite? He beat just about everybody that mattered in the division, stopped a lot of guys, was strong, quick and knew how to put on a show. His only losses come to the two best fighters of his generation.
It's sad we never got to see Hatton v Cotto but oh well.
Put him into todays mix and he'd beat just about anybody at 140lb, Garcia would probably be his toughest foe due to his counter punching abilities.
Hatton at his peak (03-05) was a terrific 140 pressure fighter.. He had a short shelf life due to his style as most pressure fighters decline fairly early, but his dethroning of tszyu is one of the best wins in the past 15 years.. Add in dominant wins over castillo, maussa and pauli and hatton had a very good career,, I think he is a hall of famer IMO
Would have loved to seen a faded hatton comeback vs faded morales or Judah
