Are Al Haymon advised fighter's merely pawns of Al Haymon? What freedoms do Al Haymon fighters get that Top Rank or GB fighters don't get. From what I see these "free agents" are just illegally being promoted or should I say "advised" by Al Haymon, meaning they have no say or credibility in making fights and choosing opponents. Do these guys even want to be in charge of their careers? Was it really there choice to turn down Roc Nation for the ones who were offered opponents? Is it simply the fact that they can duck and pick safe fights while at the same time not taking any responsibility for their match making and still have that status symbol as a "free agent"? What do yall think about this situation? How much power does he really have over Boxer's professional careers that are advised with him? And what is up with Paulie vouching for the Haymon agenda now'a days?
Wait what... Haymon didn't enter the picture until after Oscar I believe. Up until the Oscar fight Floyd was with Top Rank the entire time wasn't he? So it would be Top Rank who made Floyd not Al Haymon.
Well nobody "MADE" Mayweather, he made himself by turning into the biggest Villain in Sports when he went from "Pretty Boy Floyd" to "Money" during the build up of the Oscar De La Hoya fight
But Haymon "HELPED" even Mayweather admit if he would've met Haymon Earlier he wouldn't made a lot more money. Also was it not Haymon who helped him get that Deal with Showtime?
Haymon been with Mayweather since 2005, I don't think people realize that Haymon was Mayweather's Manager even when he was with Top Rank.

The point is that Maidana had a great year financially. And he would have NOT made that money fighting anyone else not named Floyd Mayweather. Ok, if he fought Pacquaio maybe he would have made more money.
But just keep in mind the following that happened with Pacquaio vs. Bradley...
The point which you fail to grasp was that the thread was comparing haymon advised fighter as opposed to TR and GB promoted fighters. would have been better off if he was under TR and fought Pac coz he would be getting a better deal than just 1.5 million.
often than not you are not thinking
They all trust in the man that helped build the biggest Draw in Boxing History in Floyd Mayweather and currently has the Highest Paid Athlete In The World as his #1 Client. The Man clearly knows WTF he is doing.
I think fighters are just waiting for him to put his plan in place and once that happens, not only will his fighters make their money but also I do think the fans will get BETTER MATCH UPS...HOPEFULLY! lol
LMFAO...BASICALLY!

Al haymon is the boxing illuminati.

A manager/advisor is supposed to look out for the best interests of his fighters.
It is impossible to look out for the best interests of all of your fighters if you have 150+ of them.
We're going in circles brah. You said Porter and Guerrero were not interested in Thurman, therefore they were not offered anything. Enter Alexander who expressed interest in Thurman long before the Khan offer, but was not offered anything either to fight Thurman. So...
Did I make myself clear now?
Porter was asked about the fight, his dad said that they are NOT INTERESTED in fighting thurman. Thats duck number 1. Maidana had almost signed to fight thurman, he pulled out saying to GBP that hes not a tune up fighter and has too many ko's. Thats duck number 2. Guerrero was asked to fight thurman after his victory over kameda, and his response was "keith urban? Yea ill go to his concert". Thats duck number 3. Thurman called out paulie in his own hometown, and paulie's response was the basic, it makes no financial sense. Thats duck number 4. The only one that wanted to fight him was alexander, which thurman ALSO expressed interest in fighting him and even contacted al haymon's team for the fight to be made and they never got back to him after they told him that they would do so. Hopefully I broke it down good for you to understand my point of view. IMO they haven't fought each other cuz haymons for some reason doesn't want that fight to happen. I have my opnion on why is that if you wanna know.
funny how ortiz is STILL fighting at welterweight. Yea I guess the money was good. Yes I can imagine that. When has thurman ducked someone? Can you name that fighter that he ducked?

Joselito didn't call out Canelo. He beat Ortiz, the guy who is supposed to moved up and fight Canelo. Fight was fought at welter. Lopez didn't have to move up and fight Alvarez, but he did. You can interpret it as having balls or he was satisfied with the money they offered him. Again, IT WAS MADE without so much fuss. Can you imagine Thurman doing that?

Also, when did lopez "call out" canelo? Dont forget he JUST moved up from lightwelterweight.:pat:

Point is, like I already stated, Haymon can make these fights happen if he wanted to. You're just making it complicated by interpreting "interest" in the way it suits you. I'll make it simple for you. It means they want more monnneeeyy. You're naive to think that all these Haymon fights happened because these fighters did it because they're macho or something. Do you really think Alexander would just fight Khan without being properly compensated? Just use common sense, brah.
Canelo is the biggest money fight for One Time. So why is he not throwing the ginger kid's name out there? Are you saying Joselito got more balls than him?
I agree, haymon can make the fights happen if he wanted to. No, im not "making it complicated by interpreting "interest" in the way it "suits me". Thats just laughable. What is it exactly that im "interpreting to suit me"? LMAO all I did was state FACTS, while you state your OPINIONS.
Your last quote makes absolutely NO COMMON SENSE. He's floyd's mando, and there are ALOT of fights at welterweight right now that he can take. Also, when did lopez "call out" canelo? Dont forget he JUST moved up from lightwelterweight.:pat:
ok, so you should be mad at HBO then for putting those fights on more than Haymon for putting on decent fights for Berto. right?
Dude, those guys are all above Berto at the time. Pwill fought Sergio and winky @154. Margs fought shane, a guy Berto was supposed to fight before Haiti earthquake. cotto fought clottey and many then went to 154. Respectfully, this criticism of both Berto and Haymon is way off.
You have made good points throughout but maybe you have forgotten really where things were back then. Berto had some clunkers, but overall Al did ok by him, HBO and fans.
I would hope seeing exactly who he fought would help you see this.
Good debate. I used to have a Haymon avi so I am biased to a degree. He had a terrible year this year. if he messes up the NBC deal and doesn't give me what I expect in '15, I will be where you are.
Ok lets just call a cease fire, I get what you're saying and if these fights were on ESPN I wouldn't be that cranky....and yes I do blame HBO at the time for this crap too. IMO HBO is back closer to where it should be with it's boxing-it's not perfect, but I don't feel I'm wasting my money.
My problem is that it was taking up dates when better fights could have taken place....we don't get that many fights on HBO in a year and losing them to Berto just rankled me at the time....he just didn't seem that special. There were a lot of fighters he could have been matched against at the time IMO, Cotto, Clottey, Williams, Margs for example would have had me interested at the time.

Fine, but it still isn't as bad as you make it out to be. Who would you have had him fight going back to 2009? Please don't throw out guys who are hot now.
I think, respectfully, you threw Berto out there without really remembering who he had fought. Yes, he got headline fights when he shouldn't of. But he also made great, exciting fights. If not his purse, what problems did you have?

LMAO wow.... theres two videos of 78sports that i put up. Listen to BOTH OF THEM. Thurman clearly states that he's interested in the fight, even let team haymon know about it and they never got back to him. So how is he "not really interested in fighting alexander"?
"Are you saying Canelo ducked Thurman, too? What if Thurman was asked to move up to fight Canelo? What do you think his reaction would be?"
Where did I say canelo ducked thurman? HAHAHAHA keep reaching your arms are gonna fall off... Hells yea thurman would get in the ring with nelo. "Ive got an 0 and im not afraid to let it go". I wish more young fighters had that mentality.

When you look at who else was in the division at the time the answer is no they don't impress me that much

You can say the same thing with Thurman. He was never given any offer (or contract to sign, which is no different from what that guy says in your video) because he was not really interested in fighting Alexander.
Are you saying Canelo ducked Thurman, too? What if Thurman was asked to move up to fight Canelo? What do you think his reaction would be?

That's a good resume. To think if Berto won some of those fights he'd be bigger than anyone else in Haymon's stable except for Floyd. That would be because of the matchmaking. 100 Salka's can't touch a win over even someone like Mattyse.
Exactly, its not nearly as bad a el feroz 82 made it out to be. Berto lost some and one some and made very exciting fights. It wasn't a Gary Russell or Wilder situation.
Lets just see what he does and hope that he throws it all out there on NBC.
ok. if this is your position I can't argue with it. I would disagree about volume of showcase fights. You used Berto as an example. Since Jan 1, 2009 he fought
collazzo
urango
Quintana
freddy hernandez
Ortiz
jan zaveck
ghost
soto karass
Steve Chambers
Is that really as bad as you claim? Some of these have been great fights.
When you look at who else was in the division at the time the answer is no they don't impress me that much
porter and guerrero where never given any offers cuz they were NOT INTERESTED in fighting one time. Shiiit when thurman couldn't get a fight, he moved up to 154 lbs and beat quintana, who was supposed to get a fight with canelo if he won.
