So, I saw the Mickey Rourke fight and the guy took the worst dive ever.
Naturally I wondered how much did Mickey pay him?
So I got to thinking...
How many posters on here would've taken the exact same dive for that money?
Questions:
Would you take a dive?
and
How much money would it take for you to take a dive?
Lol at all you and your "pride". If someone flashed a million dollars at you, you'd dive, summersault, back flip, motorboat. Let's be real unless I was some top fighter making millions of dollars, if someone gave me enough money **** the fight I'll dive. I'll wipe my tears with the money man.
Most of these guys probably work a boring degrading job they don't enjoy at all year after year watching their life pass them by but they wouldn't "sacrifice their dignity" by pretending to lose a boxing match......................lol

I would.
Id do it for tickets to disneyland and
3 whoppers with cheese with medium
Cherry slurpy and an alaskan husky for my wife.
I get bought out all the time.
LOL can't blame the dude then. I think he was 1-9 though, still a pretty horrible record.
It's like a win gets him $1,500 and the dive prolly got him $10,000.....got to pay that light bill. :headbang:
Dude that fought Rourke was 0-10, and HE needed to take a dive!

I think it really matters on what type of boxer you are, in terms of whether you are a top boxer at world level or some unknown journeyman. If you aren't a well known or successful athlete in the public eye with a duty to your sport I see why someone would take a dive for money...considering these guys are working even harder to provide for their families in the lower rungs of the sport.
At top level I think it's unacceptable, and you disgrace yourself and the sport. If you have the talent to be competitive at the top level, make your money the right way.
So it would really depend if I was a bum or some championship contender.
On one hand if I was a bum maybe for a good fee, if I was a contender, never.
Good point. I was thinking the same thing, if I had the talent of say a Alexander or Thurman or something, I would not take a dive because I could be competitive with some of the best. If I was someone like Amor Tino, I would take the money and bank roll it.
Depends whether I was intending to make a career out of boxing or not. If I were a journeyman and knew that I was never going to make any money really then prboably I would take a dive for a decentish amount of money.
If i were just starting out and wanted to make a real go of it then no.
