Sometimes great fighters just come across a guy that has their number, I think that would have been the case with Klitschko-Sanders.
Sanders for me was one of the most underrated HW's of his era. I think his southpaw style would always give Wlad problems. He was a fast starter, threw explosive straight punches and he also was a big guy.
He also had big brother Klitschko in trouble early, but Vitali had the chin and strength, to tire down the South African in a good fight.
Do you think today's Wlad would get the job done or do you think his style would always be wrong for Klitschko?
Doesn't really matter if he was hurt, he was still knocked down by a journeyman.
Wlad is the only hard puncher he's fought really, so it's hard to say if he's got a good chin. What we do know is that Wlad punches extremely hard. It takes a lot of power to put a 250 man with Pulevs frame out with one shot.
Almost every single boxer in the HW division today is a hard puncher.
The average boxer today weighs nearly 230lbs.
Basically the HW division today consists of an era full of George Foremans :lol1:
That is WHY it is no shame to occasionally be caught and dropped by a journeyman today.
In the past, when champs and top contenders fought lesser opposition, they got hit lots. But it didn't matter because the punches were bearable.
Today they are not bearable. That is why todays HW's like WK and Pulev fight more tentatively.
Watch Stivene vs Manswell as well, exactly the same. A single punch can end it. Look how careful they are.
This is a no brainer! As usual!
Todays journeymen are more dangerous than yesterdays champs!
that was an off balance shot to be fair. he didn't look dazed at all. I still thought pulev had a better chin than what he showed against wlad. dunno if wlad is hitting harder in his older years or pulev's chin isn't what I thought it was but he got hurt every time he got touched by wlad. I really thought hed last till the late rounds but wlad proved me wrong

44 times in 4 and a half rounds seems excessive to me. 180 times against povetkin seems excessive to me. henry akwindade cries himself to sleep because he missed out on the henry akwindade era of dominance.
using a shoulder roll and movement are legal. the only difference is what wlad does is illegal. if there was a guy that only threw low blows would you be ok with that? he's just utilizing his strengths after all. he's really good at punching people in the balls it's no different.
Ahahah, funny thing is that Akwindande vs Lewis was not nearly as bad as many Klitschko fights, it surely isn't comparable to Wlad vs Povketin.
Akwindade clinched because he looked dazed and in deep waters against Lewis, basically he gave the impression to be surviving.
Wlad doesn't clinch to recover or to slow down the pace when the pressure is up, he systematically clinches and leans on his opponents to wear them down, which , surprise for Wlad's fans, is illegal. Clinching is tolerated if you are hurt, or under heavy fire, but it's not supposed to be part of your offense.
As for Wlad vs Sanders, I believe any fighter capable of getting on the inside or at least stay in trading range has a good chance against Wlad.
It seems to me it is not much of a chin problem, the Ukrainian seems to fold when things don't go his way and he is not allowed to fight at his pace.
In slow paced fights he can take a decent shot, but if the pressure is up, he just freezes.
wlads left hook is as powerful as any punch in history imo. there's been fighters that have taken his right hand but how many fighters have you seen stay up from a wlad hook? its a damn shame he doesn't throw it often becuz its definitely his out punch
That straight right has put many boxers to sleep as well. Yeah sure many boxers have taken it but have a look at the guys he is hitting with it.
As the punches in HW boxing get harder, so do the chins.
Povetkin and Wach etc took many of them and survived but I credit that to a chin of iron.
I've never seen a better right hand in absolute terms.
Wladimir is possibly the hardest puncher in history of relevance to elite level boxing.
Pulev's chin is of iron but not many can take shots like that and not go down unless you are Marius Wach.

Oh really?
0:45 says otherwise.

Haven't you heard? He'd beat Muhammad Ali now... I just read it.
Sanders would have easily knocked out Ali, perhaps in the first round of course.
And the overwhelming favourite for a second encounter would be Wladimir Klitschko of course.
yeah someone just uploaded wlad vs ray mercer the other day, it was awesome. yeah mercer was shot but it was the offense from wlad that was so exciting, opening up with both hands, leaning forward with his chin out there and not a care in the world.
then wlad got GTFO, he went to steward to tightnen up his defense and steward tought him the lennox jab and grab maneuvers and its been down hill ever since.
thats why vitali was more exciting to watch, he kept his russian trainer and never changed his style to jab and grab. he had an iron chin though
Agreed. Vitali was much better to watch!
You never watched the entire fight or HBO version. Listen to Geroge Foreman.
Wladimir up to Corrie and before NEVER clinched. This is what he learned to do from this fight. Corrie is the reason Wladimir clinches.
Foreman said "The guy has to learn how to hold on, he never learned that"
Well Wladimir must have taken Foreman seriously! :lol1:

How did Corrie react to being clinched? I've never seen it happen to him... at least, not thirty times a round.

after a quick watch of klitschko-pulev, theres no way wlad has an easy time with a guy like frazier. he is simply not used to an effective pressure being applied, and joe would get down low and pop up with the hook, i can't see wlad avoiding it all night.
Another senseless post.
Wladimir just completely shuts down an iron chinned 6'4" 240lb opponent with solid skills and then you base off this masterful performance that Wladimir, who never even fought an opponent as weak as Frazier ever, would have a difficult time belting up a 5'11", 210lbs, chinny, featherfisted, handicapped, punchbag bum dwarf who could barely even box?
That opinion was less than nothing.

Comparing clinching to low blows is just ridiculous! CLINCHING is NOT illegal. You're acting as if Wlad just clinches and doesn't throw punches. Yes he clinches but he also has 53 KO's and finished all of his opponents. he could clinch 500 more times in a fight but he still hurts his opponents and gets KO's
Salido lowblowed (and headbutted) Lomachenko all night.... yet all the trolls who hate Wlad (not you) have no problem saying those low blows didn't matter and it's "part of the game"
Once again.... What's Wlad supposed to do? He has a glass chin. Is he just going to let someone get inside and KO him to please fans who want to see him lose? No.
Is Floyd going to stop utilizing his shoulder roll and get in a brawl with a brawler to please fans who want to see him lose? No. Neither are illegal.... (clinching is not illegal. Every fighter clinches at least once a fight. Besides Golovkin, he's perfect)
