I know this is a lik old but it a good article
Are you that thick you don't realize your first sentence is precisely what enables your third one?
Are you always this clueless? Haymon is nothing like UFC. UFC is a promotional company that needs to make money by putting up the best match ups. Haymons is something of an manager / promoter looking to match up his fighters on easy fights.....
Some idiots even compare Haymon fighters with TR's. Provo, Bradley, Rios, Alvarado, Pac, Marquez. They fought each other within a short period of time. Provo got Alvarado after a loss to Bradley. You can also say Alvarado's win was short-lived because he went straight to a dangerous fight. Pac lost in a devastating fashion. He got Rios, who Hopkins and Tyson said was a dangerous fight. Marquez lost to Bradley. Alvarado to Provo. They fought each other.
Compare that to Broner, Matthysse who lost their fights. They didn't fight each other. They've been in two cards fighting other fighters, not each other.
Then there's Peterson and Garcia who instead of fighting each other, fought nobodies. You can add more if you like...
Haymon is a disaster in boxing.
have you guys seen al haymon's standard contract? regardless of how good or bad the matches he puts on, the boxer is practically a slave from the moment he signs with haymon. he giving these boxers these big paydays with **** opponents because it adds at least 2 years to their contract every time. he has the ability, backed by the law, to use up these fighters and throw them away at will.
now if your scenario is this:
al haymon will be the new big show and all relevant fighters will be fighting in his league or whatever. he got them all on his advisor contract and he force the best to fight the best every single fight, forget the tuneups, not to mention he can pay them ANYTHING, the big paydays are needed only to extend the contract. so he has his big league of fighters always fighting the best, he using fighters best prime years and then move on to the next one and hes paying them minimum wage because he LEGALLY CAN. thats the most blatant butt**** in boxing i can think of. but ok sure, i will give you that as fans, as long as we dont care about the boxers, then we are getting the good ****, good entertainment, good fights, and hopefully we can get all this on abc, fox, cbs , nbc or whatever.
No dimwit, they have no relationship whatsoever. There's nothing stopping fights like Kovalev-Hopkins from happening when they have different promoters. They aren't under a single banner.
There are specific people who are in the ducking business and Haymon is one of them. If we had a "Haymon Fighting Championship", it would consist of year-round showcase/exhibition matches and one "showdown" every couple years, just like he does with the fighters he already has. Why would this suddenly change when he "runs everything"? Does some kind of magical spiritual renovation occur when you own every fighter instead of most of them?
You are trying to confuse and overgeneralize to leap to Al Haymon's defense: May I ask why? How did this guy who isn't even a boxer get diehard "fans"?
The only people claiming to know what Haymon is doing are the same idiots who jump to conclusions day 1 on everything. I don't know what he's planning and neither do you. It's naive of you to think that because one decent fight got made it instantly does away with decades of fights that weren't made or were made too late. We were screwed out of JuanMa-Gamboa twice and they were with the same promoter. It's like people on here think because something is new to them, it's new to boxing. He gave us Alvarez - Mayweather, the biggest fight by far in 8 years.
People want to ***** about Garcia fighting a soft touch after a fight many thought he lost, meanwhile a guy like Pacquiao has had 1 decent fight in almost 2 years and it was what most considered an unwarranted rematch. People are mad at Haymon for doing a better job than the other sketchy ass figures in the sport.

Why do fighters need promoters? What integral function does Hayman provide? If he is a money manager, or sports agent then be a sports agent...be a money manager. If he is a manager then lay off the trannies and grab the mitts Al!
At least Dana White manages a league, he sees to it that the best fights are made based primarily on performance. Furthermore White likes the sport. If promoters were not part of the equation boxing would get more coverage because when you are not paying a Greedy bastard you can afford to have the fights on regular television....like they used to.
These guys have everyone brainwashed thinking they add value, if Arum's crusty ass and his like were booted to the curb and fighters had a league and had to fight the best fights, like Danna does, Pac would be fighting Floyd.
Instead the Haymans Arums and Kings have to get paid...
So tell me again....WHAT IN FVCS NAME DOES HAYMON DO FOR BOXING? :firedevil:firedevil
he makes followers follow him"peeleft:
I've found it amusing that for years people cried about wanting a UFC model as well as marquee matchups back on network television, but since it's Haymon and he is associated with Floyd, it has to be a bad thing to the muppets on here. :lol1:
The UFC model is not perfect....But what does that have to do with scumbags like Haymon?

we wanted the ufc model because the best fought the best and al haymond does the oposite of thet:pat:
Haymon and his fans will live off the Danny Garcia vs Lucas Matthyse for 4 years and is the only fight in which Haymon had to put in his toys in to fight each other.
Broner Maidana doe!
I do find it amusing how much faith fans have in Haymon (the ones that do). The rest of us know what he's good for through historical evidence, and we'll believe he'll be a positive for the sport and fans when we have the evidence to prove it. Maybe this NBC deal is going to be it, but until we're proven otherwise he's been a detriment to the sport by seemingly having always been behind match ups not happening that the fans are craving.

Al Haymon doesn't care about boxing so I don't see how he could possibly be GREAT for boxing. He already seems to have his fighters brainwashed that tough fights are not important.
It has nothing to do with Floyd. Floyd is on a different level of the Al Haymon tree and has power to make decisions about his career and exercises that power which for the most part I'm fine with.
Its the fact that that Al has hundreds of fighters but refuses to match up his better fighters more than once a year.
Its the fact that Al has young, talented champions and contenders that are only fighting once or twice a year in mostly tune up fights.
And lastly, the mentality that he seems to have instilled in his fighters is really sickening for a boxing fan to hear.
That's why fans just need to get used to potential fights as mere fantasy fights. The way the rate it's going, fans may never see all these fantasies and it takes years to see them become reality. You'll probably need 5 lifetimes to see them. Even then, by the time your second lifetime begins, most of them are out of their primes... Seeing a guy like Thurman, for instance, gives the impression that he'll eventually fight all the top fighters. There's no way that's going to happen the way it's going. At most he'll probably fight 2-3 top fighters (out of how many?) before he calls it quits. You also have to count the number of tune up fights in between such fights.
It has nothing to do with having everyone under one company banner. Nobody cares about that. People liked the UFC because everyone fought everyone (past tense).
Haymon puts on showcase fights with turds like Danny Garcia fighting turds like Rod Salka when 20 top guys are lined up. The appeal of the UFC model went over your head entirely.
People have such short term memories on here. They act like he's the first champion to have a mismatch. But with haymons nbc deal I think 2015 will be a lot better
