Kovalev v Ward Who is the A-side now?

Kovalev is the A side. He is exciting as hell and Ward is dull as dirt unless you like a skillful mauler, clincher, wrestler and sometimes boxer. It doesn't really matter because Ward won't ever fight Kovalev at even an ounce over 168 and Kovalev can't go below 175 and still be at his best. This is most likely a fight that will never happen.

At this point I think Mayorga would be the A-side to Ward. LOL

ok it peaked at 1.4, ward-rodriguez peaked at 1.2.. ward has been showcased alot more. people know him.. and like i said 'excitement' doesnt make you the A side. Its close but kov being the a side isnt some foregone conclusion The fighter who generates more money is the a-side. At this point I dont see how Ward would generate more money than Kovalev.

Erm..he has just beaten Hopkins, a fighter known all over the world. Ward was known but the super six was three years ago and unless you are a SRL, Oscar, Floyd or Manny then this sports appeal to the wider public is what you create fresh in their memory. Getting kos doesnt make you the A side if bradley and thurman fought, who would be the A side? In this case Bradley would be. He's the more relevent fighter and has had more exposure than Thurman. He shared the stage with Pacquiao 2x. Bad comparison though. Even when Ward was active he never really created any real buzz accept from the diehard community.

Will be based on how much money Hopkins-Kovalev actually ended up bringing in and at what weight the fight will be fought at. And also how much money HBO is willing to put up for the fight. Kovalev has three belts at light heavyweight (though not the lineal championship) and Ward is the lineal champ at 168, and p4p #2 fighter on Earth. Not any more. He has done nothing in the last three years to consolidate that position.

Surely its Kovalev now. Ward has done nothing to stay relevant in three years and is largely regarded as boring as mud to watch. Kovalev on the other hand is damn good to watch and has just pitched a dominant shutout over a guy nobody has come remotely close to doing that to. Ward fans have been hiding behind that whole a-side excuse and have tried to apply it to the concept of him fighting both Kovalev and GGG, insisting laughably that these two busier, equally well known and more relevant fighters, should go to him in a division he has already cleaned out. I can kind of see that argument for GGG, but for Kovalev its just dumb. For Ward is the best fighter, but if they fight at 175lbs then Kov should be the A side on the promotion bill (not money wise since he is making less then Ward), if at 168lb then Ward is, if at a catch weight Ward should be he has good ratings, #2 p4p and the linel champ at 168lb which Kov is still not the lineal champ, but all this could change soon I am saying this would apply if the fight is signed today.:boxing: Why is Kov making less money when he is the star, so to speak?

How can he be the A-side when the other guy is more well known, generates more excitement and is an active fighter? It just doesnt make sense. Ward has done virtually nothing for three years and still has nothing lined up. Outside of boxing fans, hardly anyone knows who he is. How is kov more known?
