If a white fighter (Sergei Kovalev for example) said the things Bernard said in the past regarding race, white fighters etc ..Every boxing board would be trolling with articles/post/ideas about the injustices the sport of boxing subjects black fighters too. It seems the sporting world chooses to forget Bernard Hopkins has made plenty of bigoted statements(And no I'm not just referring to before this fight "to sell tickets") why do people not care about the double standard?
The bottom line is Hopkins has gotten a free pass in regards to statements about race and no other ethnic group would. Historical context is no justification, Jews can't make statements like that... Karma is a *****!!
russians subjugated blacks? when did this imaginary historical event which supposedly makes hopkins comments okay take place?
African Immigrants have it hard in Russia as well. Also instead of using the term black, why don't you use the exact national origin. Why because to americans black simply means speaking about african americans and no other blacks outside of the US
"Every white guy who comes up with that overused "If a white guy said it" argument thinks he's some kind of absolute genius who thinks he just discovered a cure for cancer. It's hilarious because they really are just fools with no clue about history."
Slavery is not specific to Africans. Many other ethnic groups including Irish, Jewish, Greek, and Armenian have been enslaved throughout history. The white man did not invent slavery. History of certain peoples should not be a catalyst to justify Injustice. Please don;t try and claim you know history when you dont!! thanks!!
In terms to colonialism and and the making of nations in the west, yes it is.
The reasons of those groups above aren't the same nor do they have impact today!
Typical Thread from this Forum and of course it will spin out of control and get disrespectful but instead of closing it this thread is STILL OPEN!
Best Boxers Win Regardless of Race, Religion or Nationality!
B-Hop has shown nothing but respect to Kovalev after defeat and been singing his praise, but yet of course and really ONLY ON THIS FORUM, people trying to start Race War based on a Russian guy beating a Black American

Dude, are you really that stupid!?!?! smdh That you cannot even read and understand what is written .... Some of you guys are really neglected.
And I'm guessing by your knee-jerk reaction without a single thought, that you couldn't even comprehend the following:
"He is often doing so with a selfish agenda as motivation. And that is wrong!"

Let it go.
BHops comes out with some s#it sometimes but anything he's said pales in comparison to the virulent racist bullsh#t I see on boxing forums everyday from both sides.
If you wanna start a campaign to clean up racism in boxing, get in touch with the mods or write to your Senator / MP / whatever your elected representative is called where you come from.
spot on.......bhop was classy in defeat, gave kov full credit, what else can one ask for
So, if you were to raise the issue of B-Hop and others incorrectly using faulty race relations for personal selfish gains, I would applaud the effort. But, your methods would have to be genuine also, and not motivated by or presented in a tit-for-tat fashion. Blacks unfortunately, have a historical claim to subjugation, while "whites" have been on the other side. Therefore, no white boxer could ever raise the issue of racial injustice, because it would be judged as invalid due to the lack of historical reference.

"Oh wait, this is the same braindead St0r.mfr0nt imbecile who is trolling up the lounge section as well. Carry on, dirtbag."
Look, i'm bringing up a valid point and i'm not trolling anywhere. What is **********?
"But yeah I'm offended that if a fighter of any other ethnicity acted the same way, he would be handed his walking papers. "
This is my exact point. Its just a bit mind boggling
OK, you've made a point,(Whether its valid, is subjective) but what is it that you're trying to achieve with this thread?
Sure, B-Hop made some outrageous statements pre-fight as he always does. It all goes with the B-Hop persona and for the most part, even though he may have a valid point when elevating race relations and exposing its faults -- He is often doing so with a selfish agenda as motivation.
And that is wrong!

Hopkins gave Kovalev full credit and respect in the post fight interview and presser.
So whatever he said in the past is irrelevant now.
Freedom spot on. Both Hopkins and Kovalev, rumored/alleged racists, handled themselves with dignity and class. They embarrassed anyone expecting the worst from them.

What the hell kind of attitude is that? :lol1:
People need to be more mature about certain things. The fight has come and go, move on and look forward. Not go back to what he or she said to sell a fight. We all know Hopkins history when it comes to hyping up or selling a fight.
Hopkins race-baiting should be condemned. It's poisonous, and there's no excuse in using it to sell a fight.
I don't think black fighters talking in that way is as bad as white fighters talking in that way. The historical context is very different and there's an element of resistance in the black racial narrative that doesn't really apply to 'white' people in the same way.
But it still prolongs the same stupid conversation and it's cheap button pushing to sell tickets. I would associate it more with Don King than anyone else in the sport, and anything most strongly associated with that piece of shit is better off gone.
Many people did come out and critizice Hopkins for talking like that, so I think you're being disingenuous. I heard it being talked about at length last night on Box Nation. It still follows him around and he had paid a bit of a price for it. For example, this thread. He has the right to free speech, other white fighters have it as well...you just have to live with your statements.

its cause black people are sensitive so we treat them like kids to be honest.
We dont hold them to the same standard we hold everyone else cause they speak before think and are like lil kids all emotions no logic.
Has a real life troll name as a user name, whom is also apart of the black race.
You either are very sad or just plain sad.
I'm not offended by anything Hopkins has said, and over the years he's really made a habit of making things racial.
But yeah I'm offended that if a fighter of any other ethnicity acted the same way, he would be handed his walking papers.
It's the unique situation of being the poorest group in the richest country in the world, the best of both worlds.
To the voiceless third world you're a rich God, to other Americans you're a helpless victim and treating you like an adult is viewed as "mean".
Who is left to scold him? Some guys on a forum.
