Which fighters have the most complete/widest skillsets?
There is a handful of boxers who do many, many things well and can incorporate defense with aggression.
(not gonna list prospects or guys who aren't already in the top 10 of their divisions)
My list of the most complete fighters in the sport:
Gennady Golovkin
Sergey Kovalev
Terrance Crawford
Roman Gonzalez
Manny Pacquiao
Vasyl Lomachenko
Takashi Uchyama
Kell Brook
Keith Thurman
Floyd Mayweather
Martin Murray
Rigo
Bernard Hopkins
There's a couple of them. Who else?
AMERICANs NEED TO WAKE THE **** UP AND REALIZE IT IS NOT THE 1970's anymore(we don't dominate boxing. Yes its possible for boxers to be foreign and legit) . YES Martin Murray is a top middleweight and beat Sergio MArtinez and has a COMPLETE boxing game. Sorry he's not DRAW ATTENTION to myself all ****ing day FLoyd fanny Mayweather, Americans like drama shows over substance!! Grow up children
What are you talking about?

Rigo, no one is close when considering Methods & Techniques!
If he would press more than he does he could capture more interest but Cubano's are stubborn and he isn't going to step up the way people would like him to.
No one is close to this guys skill level, no one!!
Ray.
His reflexes, body and foot movement and speed are off the charts. The best hand eye coordination since Pernell.

It is too hard to make a list like this, as elite fighters only have to fight a certain way, to beat most common type opponents.
I mean lets take 2 of them as examples. Floyd, right now, in his last couple fights with Maidana, appears to get roughed up some by a fairly basic fighter. If you look closely though, he is not getting beat up really, and seems to be only fighting in first gear, and still coasts easily to the win. I think he could have stopped Maidana in that second fight, but seems to just prefer to stay in first gear, probably in respect to Maidana's raw power. You can tell just from watching him he has much much more, if he wanted to. But, if you watch Floyd vs Canelo, you see so much more of his game. He was beating up Canelo in every facet he tried, changed it up constantly and kept Canelo frustrated and guessing.
Then there is Golovkin. We have only seen basically the same thing from him each time. Methodical beatdowns of over matched opponents. In the time since he hit our local airwaves on HBO, I have been waiting for this dude to even lose a round. He looks like he is in first gear, like it is a casual day in the office. His opponents meanwhile just cannot seem to cope. I can tell Golovkin has more gears and can see plain as day that he is a thinking fighter. It is called the eye ball test. He certainly needs to prove more, but his weight class will not provide that for him. Everyone says he shows no ability to box on the back foot. Well why would he when his opponents are running frantically away from him? I cannot say GGG is a complete fighter, but cannot say he isn't either, but he does LOOK to have much more to his game, but does not need to show it yet. His trainer was disappointed with him in his last fight with Rubio. Sanchez said he wanted GGG to beat Rubio up on the inside and have fun for a few rounds, but it ended too quickly.
Probably Rigo ... almost seems like he is better than everybody at everything.
I'd have ward up there too if he was more active ... the guy really is good just fight goddamn it.
GGG and Kovalev are the 2 most complete fighters???? You must be posting for shock value because even with your blind hero worship, you're not dumb enough to believe this
I want to believe that's what he's doing but you never know with these guys....
It's not as simple as "boxing ability"
Kovalev and Golovkin have elite boxing skills. They can fight on the inside and the outside. Combine that with their constant KO's. Those two have the most complete skill-sets in the sport, but this is just my opinion. Many, many people agree with me, though
where are these many, many people?
Both have them have very solid and subtle defense, you just can;'t notice it because they're destroying opponents while trying to please the crowd.
You don't have over 300 amateur victories without an ability to box. They can both box going backward, you just haven't saw them have to do it because they go for the kill and try to fight to please the fans. DO you think either of them could of made it in America without fighting how they do? They do it cause they have to and they're good at it.... but it's not all they can do.
Abel Sanchez said it best: "When I got Golovkin... he was a boxer, but that wouldn't work with the American fans. We had to change his style to make him a star."
And Max Kellerman said himself that Kovalev has good defense for the style he has, the best a guy with his style could possibly have
That's why these two are on the list..... Hell GGG and Kovalev are THE TWO most complete fighters in the sport.

I forgot Floyd, Rigo, Martin Murray and Bernard Hopkins. Gonna add them now.
Who else?
Martin effing Murray????? I think you're trying to make your heros (GGG) next fight sound like it's more than the cherry pick it is. Martin Murray ! GTFOH
Mayweather and Roman Gonzalez are the most complete fighters in boxing IMO.
This will read weird, but Tim Bradley is a poor man's complete fighter. He can do everything at a competent level, but none of it exceptionally.
So that's where the Khan question came in. Mario Kindelan was about the highest level of opposition you could hope to face in a vest. Khan has a win over him and an Olympic silver medal to boot. That's more than Sergey achieved and matches the top honour that Golovkin has.
Khan beat Kindelan in an exhibition in Bolton after Kindelan had essentially retired. I wouldn't read that much into it.
Yeah I mean clinching the sh1t out of fat bums on the inside is the perfect example of the sweet science in full flow :lol1:
Even the biggest Wlad hater cannot argue with the great showing of the sweet science he has put on full display in his most recent run.
Also... the man is fighting back-to-back #2 and #3 HWs in the world. They're not fat. Pulev and Povetkin are competitive in any era and are Olympic gold medalists.
Furthermore.... Povetkin was in fantastic shape against Takam and in the best shape of his life finally. And clinhing is part of the game. If you can't handle the heat get out the kitchen
Nah. I didn't list Wlad in the OP for a reason. I'm not saying he's a complete fighter.....
In that post I was saying he's the closest thing to a "perfect" or "flawless" fighter as there is today. Nobody else has perfected the sweet science like he has on his most recant championship crusade and win streak and he has hidden his flaws... flawlessly

Who the hell cares about the amateurs? Audley Harrison won a gold medal in the amateurs
Wlad? LOL....the guy can't fight on the inside to save his fuking life. You're trolling now.
