A lot of his fighters usually enjoy a weight advantage: Margarito, Rios, Mikey, Donaire. When Robert Garcia was a fighter, I was always under the impression that he was smaller than his opponents and not strong enough. Robert Garcia is a smart trainer, he's learnt his lesson. A smart trainer doesn't allow his fighter face to get broken, a smart trainer doesn't allow himself to get punked over sanction gloves. If Garcia held his own he would have took Madaina to the ring and when Floyd fails to show his fighter is awarded the victory by walk over they're still paid their 2 million Floyd loses out of his and he makes Floyd look like coward. A smart trainer doesn't say okay Floyd you get 30 million and we get 2 million and the under card fighter Broner makes more than you yea that's real smart

Pac vs Margarito Cotto vs Margarito Pac vs Rios = Beat Down FMJr. vs Maidana Golovkin vs Veneno All the winners were already huge favorites in those fights. No trainer in the world could have helped those guys win. This Robert Garcia is a great trainer to be able to take Maidana from the brink of retirement to a competitive fight with Mayweather where he did some good damage to the champ

Cool story. He's a good trainer. That goes for ANyone that could make Rios a champion, which still boogles my mind. His Win over Peterson was his best and people overlook, it complete beat down, peterson brothers are good fighters. He took his soul in that fight. Cotto Margarito was what it was because of the way Pacquiao left Antonio. And it was stopped because of it as well. Towards the end Maragarito was gaining momentum and even hurt Cotto. Thomas Dulorme - Great come back win against Mayfield. Clinched to much though. But when he let his hands go he countered Mayfield all night, had him hurt in one round. Pac/Rios: C'mon now, what did you expect. FMJr vs Maidana: Gave him the best fight of his last 14 opponents, alongside Cotto. In the Rematch he was boxing with Mayweather in spots, something i would have never pictured Maidana doing. Even Countered Mayweathers "Pull Counter", and nearly puttin his lights out. Maidana-Broner: "One sided beatdown, took years out of Broners career", as Hopkins called it. Showed great improvement. If you're not impressed, then you're not . But i say he's a good trainer considering the fighters he gets are not the most gifted, but have limitations. Its not about a "cool story" or what not. I listed those fights to get the thread going. You have some contribution. All well taken. Now, on the Cotto vs Cheteao, I dont know which fight you saw....but Cheteao did not hurt Cotto.....not even one time but that's not the point on this thread.

He's a good trainer. Some of his fighters have lost to the best of the era. There's no shame in that. What he's done with Maidana is pretty damn impressive. He beat down Broner and gave Floyd hell. I like Garcia.

As I attempt to research which "Top 10" Ranked and Champions that are under the RGBA I come to a road block since there are lots of websites blocked at work. I as I continue to hear lots of hype regarding his Academy, I wanted to look for his most important fights/fighters and their combined record on "high visibility" or "Championship" bouts. Lets say going back five (5) years.... The only fighter that I can say that has been successful is Mickey Garcia (and even him could be suspect of some great matchmaking, and or cheating the weights), I also got Nonito, but outside that I can recall a few: Pac vs Margarito = Beat Down Cotto vs Margarito = Beat Down Rios vs Alvarado = 50/50 Thomas Dulorme = I was not convinced after his last performance (w/RGBA) Pac vs Rios = Beat Down FMJr. vs Maidana = Fight dirty, not convincing Golovkin vs Veneno = Overweight, not convincing The Russian "Mexican" guy = I have not seen enough of him etc. I have not been able to see where the hype comes from?
