Turned down a 6 million dollar deal with and 4 million between his next 3 fights (1 million, 1 million, and then 2 million)
http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/11816572/thurman-turns-roc-nation-sports-offer
your so stuck on that Haymon has last say that you arent even considereing that maybe he wasnt even needed cause Thurman himself didnt like the deal. Al is irrelevant in this. Thurman made the choice but to you this is a lie. Youkids just see the surface and think thats all there is.
And yes roc nation has big athelets signed but this isnt badeball or football. In boxing roc nation has no one and nothing
yea you can't compare boxing to other sports. too much politics in boxing.
Haymon does apparently have complete control over in effect every aspect of his fighters' professional careers, at least according to the contracts that have become public through the ME vs GBP/Haymon litigation.
But, yeah. This ^^.
You seem to get a number of guys signing with Haymon, giving one interview in which they babble about being crossover stars and movie deals and how the big fights are just around the corner, and then they suddenly clam up up and pretty much only speak in obviously scripted soundbites while fighting nobodies once or twice a year.
Shit's all a bit Stepford for my liking.
Maybe it's just part of Uncle Als masterplan, but so far I'm failing to see any Haymon signing of the last coupla years whose career has suddenly taken off under Al, in fact, quite the opposite in several cases. I'm kinda willing to suspend judgement until we find out quite what's gonna happen with Haymons likely broadcast / promotion set-up which looks likely to be unveiled early next year, but TBH 2014s controversies haven't really filled me with confidence..
I think he thought that the Garcia Matty winner would steamroll the comp into super stardom. It would have been true had Garcia handled his papi Herrera. He can't protect his prospects so blatantly.
It's funny how Haymon is always referred to as an "advisor", yet he seems to have complete control over fighters' decisions. I don't know if Thurman's decision to turn down RN was the best, only time will tell. He was offered $6 million for a 3 fight deal, but believes he can make that and maybe more next year. If that's the case, then Haymon will have to make some big changes to the BS career model he has demonstrated so far. It seems like all of the big money is going to Mayweather (and Haymon), while stand out up-and-comers settle for crumbs and few fights. In any event, it's a shame that a fighter's future depends on whether his "advisor" has beef with any prospective business partners knocking on his door.

cant believe you al haymon stans are co signing this obvious duck move !!!!!!! first of all turning down guaranteed money in this buisness is stupid as it is , but turning down multi mil advace money is even stupider !!!!!!! i guaranttee before the end of next year thurman will regret this !!!!!!! matter of fact not only will thurman regret it , so will wilder and quilllan !!!!!!!! rocnation has proved themselve in every industry they have entered !!!!!! they are not like 50 cent in the slightest bit of the imagination !!!!!! just ask .......
durant basketball
cano - football
and that guy in baseball who made 200 mill
Robinson Cano is their baseball guy. You see these contracts that Cano got, that Durant and dez will get and ask yourself why am I only getting 6 mil for? Cano probably makes that in a quarter of a season

Stop, he's not getting the Mayweather fight and he knows it.
Actually, I say if he keeps winning the way he's doing, he probably will get the Mayweather fight (likely in September). Floyd doesn't have many options left.
so he changed his tune about not being afraid of letting his "0" go?? what happened keith??
I don't see how that's "changing his tune". It's been shown many times that having an "0" does help a boxer's career. At this point in Thurman's career, even though he's not afraid to let go of his "0", he also can't afford to lose it to a nobody either if he wants his career to grow.
First person to respond reads my post but didn't hear a damn thing I was saying. I even put that Thurman has NO SAY because he is signed to Haymon, Al has all the control. This is proven fact, not rumor. Anyone signed to Haymon can't do what they want in their career so your entire first point is moot because it's wrong and I already acknowledged it but your lack of reading ability forced me to repeat it, hopefully you got it this time.
I have no clue what your second sentence is even supposed to mean. Are you too dense to realize I bought the real weed and coke, then turned around and sold the fake sh*t to keep my money AND the real stuff all to myself? It's called a hustle, and that's exactly what Haymon is doing to the fighters. The simple fact that you can't see how or why proves your ignorance, especially taking your second point into account.
And, you're right. RocNation hasn't done a damn thing, they're only a agent company for guys in the NFL and MLB like Dez Bryant, Victor Cruz, CC Sabathia and Robinson Cano` Yeah, who the f*ck are these guys I mean Al Haymon is working with All Stars like... Peter Quillon and Keith Thurman, who the f*ck are the other guys right?your so stuck on that Haymon has last say that you arent even considereing that maybe he wasnt even needed cause Thurman himself didnt like the deal. Seems all you kids see is $$ signs and think its a great offer. I dont know the details but Thurman doesnt seem to like it snd he doesnt strike me as an idiot and spoke like he truly felt this wasnt the right path for him.
And as for the oregeno and baby poweder thing you all seem like the kind that say i got a great deal so i took it and in the end found out you got had.
And yea Roc Nation hasnt doen anything

I thought it's all about money for these floydiots. Now they're saying something different.
Has never been about money for me, other than my own, but apparently it is for you all. Upset he didnt take offer like you kids will see some of it.
Just a few thoughts:
To the people saying who is Thurman going to fight... who is he fighting now exactly? I promise you he would get an HBO fight with someone to make him look good then he could easy get in there with Ruslan, Bradley, Rios, Alvarado... I'd love to see Thurman in any of those fights to be honest, they'd be great.
How can people be Floyd fans saying it's all about the money (but avoid Manny's payday) while at the same time say "It's not about the money it's about loyalty to Haymon/Rocnation has never promoted before." So you're saying Al Haymon is a better businessman than Jay-Z now or that Manny is in the right because he is being loyal to Arum and not "all about the money" fighting for Haymon... so which one is it? It isn't like Al has promoted before either, he's an advisor remember, Oscar/Richard did all the promoting and they are gone.
People still think Haymon is some savoir to boxing? It has been reported by ESPN that in every Haymon contract a fighter cannot make any decisions unless it's approved by Al. Thurman could have been offered $100 million and Al still would have said no and there isn't a damn thing Thurman could do about it. The people who defend him are the type of people you can sell oregano as weed and baby powder as coke and they'll think you gave them top shelf because you said so. Tools, all of them.

BOOM! There goes the dynamite

Wtf is wrong with Thurman?? The guy was getting a record contract, these guys with haymon are brainwashed, thug mentality
What is this thug mentality I really want to hear your silly answer. This was no way a record contract
Roc Nations has done quality work for athletes in other sports that involve far greater money than we see with boxing. Their legit and their big time, regardless of them yet to be involved with boxing. This is not another 50-cent situation. As far as them wanting line their pockets, they're willing to overpay for unproven products because they see potential. That likely says their about long term earning and not another typical boxing promoter like Shaw or Dibella who are just looking to cash in for an HBO paycheck at a casino.
But I also suspect they see a ***** in the Haymon armor by offering huge deals to alot of his fighters, and them being forced to turn the deals down. Thurman probably played it in his best interest to turn the deal down before speaking with Haymon. He knew he wouldn't have been able to accept the offer due to his contract with Al, so maybe this gets him in a better situation with Haymon. That said expect Errol Spence to be getting an offer any day now.ive aeen them sign athletes in other sports and big athletes but have yet to see anything come from it. Boxing is an entirely different animal and i agree with Thurman that they have done nothing in the sport and very little in the other sports to show him they are the real thing. If ot were me i want to see what they do first before I sign away with them. What foghts are they offering? What % do they want? How often do i get dates? Does pay go up or is this flat rate? Lots and lots of questions and apparently he saw something he didn't like.
Now I'm not saying they won't succeed but they just haven't yet
Roc Nation has done nothing in this sport. NOTHING!! So lets hold off on crowning them the saviour because for all we know they just want big name fighters to put on crap shows to line their pockets.

Roc Nations will be going through all of Haymon's fighters and offering them sweet deals, and they'll all have to turn them down because Al won't give up control. By the end of next year, if all these different guys aren't seeing this kind of money and who ever Roc Nations picks up is, expect a class action lawsuit against Haymon, getting this turd kicked out of boxing once and for all. Haymon has a long history of milking networks and delivering sh*t fights, back with Andre Berto on HBO.

Your quickly becomig one of the best opinions on this site.Really good post agree with most of it especially the first half.
Like I've said before this just appears to me as Roc sports having the blessing of HBO to disrupt and create friction in Haymons business. Divide and conquer
