Curious to where you would place him in the current landscape. A lot of the top 10 is now very open to interpretation. How high could Hopkins be placed? Potentially first?
If Hopkins wins convincingly (which he likely will), I hope it forces people to evaluate the caliber of Kovalev and maybe stop hyping some of these guys up. FYI -- look at his resume. Nothing he's done should elevate anyone to top 5 p4p status.
Who has Kovalev top 5p4p?
Yeah it's really a matter of opinion. But your last line says it all. Kovalev has a puncher's chance. That's it.
Yeah it is but I don't see that opinion having strong basis :lol1:
Well it's not just a punchers chance because if he's that hittable in this fight he will get hurt multiple punches.
if b hop wins he should fall somewhere between 8 and 10. beating kovalev isnt that big of a deal. it will be the equivalent of Floyd beating maidana. decent win, nothing special.
my p4p list
mayweather
ward
rigo
pac
wlad
Bradley
marquez
froch
golovkin
canelo
gonzalez
d Garcia
cotto
m Garcia
crawford

this^^^^^^^
It took him 17 rounds and Eric Harding didn't look the same to me after the Roy Jones fight. Plus it's Eric Harding. I cannot see any way Tarver has much more power than Kovalev. I wouldn't even consider that hard a puncher. I think if there's one thing Kovalev can do it's punch very hard.
Like I said I agree I think Hopkins will win aswell but it's interesting because Hopkins hasn't faced this kind of challenge for a long time. Let's say Tarver is a harder puncher who cuts off the ring better, that was a long time ago.
For example if Hopkins gets hit as much as he did against Murat against Kovalev then he might be in trouble.

I think Tarver has much more power (See KO's of Eric Harding, etc.) but it's a matter of opinion really. Regardless, Hopkins has been hit hard before in his life. Kovalev isn't bringing anything to the table but a puncher's chance. Unless Hops shows his age...he has no chance. And he really doesn't. We shall see.

Don't think so. Tarver never showed me real legitimate power outside of a passed it Roy Jones. Decent power but not the kind of power Kovalev has. Kovalev isn't the hardest puncher he's fought P4P but I'd say he is at LHW. He's not a blown up MW like Pavlik or a bum like Tavouris Cloud.
Even if this were the case, that fight was almost a decade ago now. In recent years he hasn't fought many good fighters.
Kovalev doesn't possess anything Hopkins hasn't seen but he does posses things he hasn't seen in quite a while. And that's why I think it's interesting.
But like I said I'm still picking Hopkins.

Yeah man, I'm not really bowled over by what Hopkins is doing because the opponents really aren't that good. I hate to say it but it's true. Like the last guy he fought. They're doing the same thing here again and boy have they found a sweet victim in Kovalev. You're right though it's perception and age factor. And they're milking it.
That's what it has been so far but Kovalev is for real imo. Hopkins deserves high praise if he beats him.

The last guy he fought was Shumenov. I don't think he's comparable to Kovalev.
Kovalev might not be great but he's by far the most dangerous fighter he's fought in a while.
I think Antonio Tarver can cut off a ring better and has better power than Kovalev. There is nothing Kovalev will bring that Hopkins hasn't seen before. And I guarantee there will be more than a few people who end up screaming at their screens Saturday night, wondering why Kovalev isn't throwing punches.

It's all in perception and the age factor. I personally don't think highly of Kovalev or the Light heavy division. But people seem to think Hop can't do it. Now after he process them wrong, I think he should get all the praise in the world. My opinion though. But I get what ur saying though

Let's say decent; I'd say "alright" though. This doesn't spring anyone into the top 5 p4p IMO.
The only intrigue to this fight is if Hopkins looks his age. Because other then that, Kovalev is tailor made for him. I mean you couldn't have drawn up a better opponent for Hopkins to look dominant against.

I think atleast Kovalev has legitimate power, can cut off a ring, is the first real LHW of this kind that Hopkins has fought.
I also think atleast he's looked impressive against ranked opposition.
This reasoning makes it interesting for me. I still favour Hopkins because despite this the style match up suits him.
If you want to draw up an opponent for Hopkins to look good against that's a bum like Tavoris Cloud.

I think Cleverly and Campillio are decent wins. Both title holders (or should have been)
agree people are saying who did he beat like there's a lot of big names at 175

Can someone explain to me who Kovalev has beaten again?
Ahh boxing fans. Fall for the same thing each time.
