If he beats Kovalev and doesn't retire afterwards, I think that would be as idiotic of a decision as Marquez not retiring after KOing Pacquiao. There is no need to risk facing Stevenson, or anyone else, at the age of 50. Especially since he would've already beaten the guy that was recognized as the biggest threat at 175.
Obviously a loss should end his career as well.
hopefully none, Kovalev is doing us a favor by getting rid of him. He's taking up premium boxing dates from fighters that people actually want to see. Like Gallito Estrada or Chocolatito
Sergey Kovalev and Adonis Stevenson at 50 yrs of age. If he can pull off those 2 wins he will be talked about as the ATG for eternity. I can't see him fighting after that unless for a mega payday with Mayweather at some kind of catch weight.
I think it is safe to say that Hopkins is on a fight to fight basis. He already has blazed trails which may never be crossed again.
Personally, I've had enough and hope his next fight is his last, win or lose.
he started deteriorating in his early 40's, then he learned how to adapt to it and had several great performances. i think he reached a point where no amount of adapting can help him a few fights ago, he has gotten away with it mainly due to lesser opposition like cloud, murat and shumenov.
i think the pascal fight was the last time he looked impressive. then again dawsons style was always made to give hopkins trouble, but even if we give him a pass on that one too he has -3 fights left.
look at roy bragging about how people said he was done and he won X straight fights since then, but we all know he is done regardless of how many bums he beats. obviously roy is shot to another degree, cloud, murat and shumenov would all beat roy easily. but the same principle still applies. kovalev will knock hopkins out and at his age there will be no coming back.
